  1. True...to be sure...but whats done is done.
  2. I agree with you...the call that has to be made if are we completely screwed now anyway with the rash of injuries, which increases the risk that moving assets wouldn't bring success anyway. I don't know the answer but it doesn't look good right now.
  3. Jays don't have to do it right now but if we can stabilize this ship and are still there in it, that's the risk you take moving assets. Nobody ever has guarantees....and there is no guarantee Norris is going to be a CY award winner either, or even close. Ya, this Board would light up moving him...but there is a irrational prospect love affair imo. I understand why...but don't necessarily always agree. There was nothing like seeing the young Jays and Expos when they emerged with all the cheap, controllable A talent, but this team is in a different place.
  4. To me this half pregnant approach guarantees perennial mediocrity. Other teams in AL East have prospects too and dough to stock up on FAs. If we can hang in there go for it and live with consequences. This is the year in the AL East im afraid.
  5. Cant see them selling him given their talent and a shot at next year, but what would it take for Beltre?
  6. Rasmus is streaky enough to put together a .950 OPS month or more before its all over. Last year .850 overall. OR....he will end up where is he is now....sub .700 OPS 2012 Colby. Toss up
  7. I, for one, would be ok with that. You cant have it both ways. We cant win without upgrades and we cant acquire real talent in the middle of the season without using farm assets. We have a shot this year and if Tanaka is out it just got better. (not wishing injuries on anyone). When do we think we will have a better opp to get into post season in AL East? I get it...everyone loves to drool over the potential of our prospects...cheap, controllable and talented. But they are simply just assets and potential. I think with the injury trouble we have now we may be too big a risk to go for it. But if we can stop this latest skid and get back on top or very close, I know its a minority opinion but Im ok to go for it and live with the consequences. Flags fly forever...not into being the neverwin Cubs or the Ms.
  8. If TJ NYY place muzzle to skull and pull trigger...man, what a shocker that would be to lose this expensive stud. They too have had a very rough go on the FL front. Os have had Machado and Weiters out but stayed relatively healthy.
  9. Lawrie, Lind, Edwin, Reyes, Jose, Colby....make you realize how lucky we were in 92 and 93 on DL front. I didn't check back but with WAMCO nobody missed any time all season that was serious all season that I can remember. Same for core nucleus in 92. NYY faring no better if Tanaka is TJ - that would be a shocker.
  10. WTF is this ramble?!! "dislike"
  11. Tough loss today...like the optimism above. Why not? Didn't see the game but heard Reyes had a couple more hits and another E that cost a run. Stro didn't have it today. I was using score app but Kawa bunted with 2 on and Narvarro at 2nd in the 6th. Force at 3rd. Tell me that wasn't a sac bunt attempt please!! Kawa has been hitting the ball well and you would have to place the ball where you want it with your hands to ensure Navarro doesn't get thrown out on wheel play. If we had sac on I HATE that call. Right after that Reyes and Tolly were toast and promising inning over. Also heard Loup faced Pujols....strange call. Is there a match up there Gibby was playing?!
  12. Jesus...things are going so bad if Davis tweeted that Jose Bautista got eaten by Godzilla I would tend to believe it...
  13. Not trying to be pious but I sincerely agree. Never see the humour in making light of someone specifically who has been sexually abused and has guts to come out. Do some service work with and know Sheldon Kennedy pretty well here in Calgary who gives a lot back but the stories he hears and shares are troubling of how many kids this happens to.
  14. Don't you know that Wilner says he is "Robbie Alomar with the bat"
  15. Missed the game on a Calgary Stampede "date". Caught only one AB when she went to washroom and it was Reyes tater. Checked stats and Dickey looks like he pitched a gem. Dude takes a licking from the fans but that was a big start for us. REYES finally doing what he can do tonight. Keep it up boys! NYY lost. 14 hits??!!
  16. Selling Edwin and/or Jose with those contracts now is insane when we are 3 games out imo in an AL East where we have a shot. This streak of chaos will end just like the euphoric stretch we had where we won on things like a walk off sac bunt. Our talent needs to start hitting and they will. They are proven producers. We weren't that good and we aren't this bad.
  17. He is labelling himself with a .260 OBP and 70Ks plus showing himself to be an injury risk. This is 2012 Colby with a sub .700 OPS and a billion Ks. That throw last night was atrocious on sac fly. Honestly...that was bad. I was hoping for continued upward progression from 2013 from him this year...lots of ball left but he has major hill to climb.
  18. Your last sentence is the bottom line. Last year Colby had an .850 OPS. This year sub .700 like 2012. Melky, Reyes and Jose as well as Navarro have to do more especially with Edwin & Lawrie out. So apparent how important Lawrie is to the team stabilizing the D and adding some more cred to the bottom of the order. Lind, Juan and Colby are never going to hit LHP well, so those RHH sticks have to produce. Adding marginal pieces wont change that reality. We have swung down 8 games in standings to Os.
  19. shhhh....don't jinx him He is looking solid. Best fastball command ive ever seen from him lately...with a couple notable exception starts.
  20. .268 OBP Colby and 69 Ks - approaching JPA territory.
  21. cmon Happy...good inning. nice job Pitch count climbing early...
