  1. Listen...I love to watch young talent develop and its been a total pleasure seeing early days with Sanchez and Stro...I just want to be realistic; not naïve and not a donkey chasing a f***ing carrot every year. We had a real shot THIS YEAR in the now...not in make believe land of our future glory.
  2. totally agree with this....I also think we should have gone for it...this was the year in AL East. I don't share the optimism of some for the next 2 years.
  3. Like a new chick the first few times are always usually the best...
  4. Our savious cometh....Im not as excited as some on here about the Norris, Sanchez, Stro next year and year after blue sky "cheap young rotation of the future". Seen enough Hutchs, Drabeks, Romeros, Morrows etc to know one or two of them will get hurt and/or not be as effective as we would like to hope. This was our year to make a run and in the last off season and again at deadline it was f***ed up beyond belief.
  5. I don't know - he does kind of resemble a hot air balloon...he may be able to self levitate.
  6. or even more challenging on the turf - in Canada - on a team with an ever more confusing sense of organizational direction (to many)
  7. Assuming this year production ish continues "he is fine as a DH". His OBP has really taken off the last while 2014 and it was .390 in SF - but I still would call him a pretty free swinger. He had an OPS of .800 just in KC- then PED year in SF - then his 1st year (injuries) with us now so far a premo 2014. I think 3 years is a big risk on continued production and I don't really see him as a solid DH in AL East (but that also depends on the production of your position players). LF-DH morph sharing those roles isn't bad idea. We are buying high if we extend, but he has played his way to it.
  8. If we can get 3 with a 4th year option at that price Id be surprised. I hate that kind of commitment to a player like him (aside from last night doesn't BB much - not that much pop and sub par D). Respect his abilities and his toughness to play through a tumour last year and he has played 118 games this year. His OPS is .850+ I don't buy the arguments FAs play this way solely for a contract - otherwise Colby would be lighting it up. I think this is the real Melky, sans PEDS, since his KC debut. I lean towards QO - just don't like the 3 year deal with him in OF and he isn't a AL East DH.
  9. Lawrie has now played 60% of the games in his career. 2 oblique strains in 2 seasons?! Consistent strains and other issues. Jumps at the ball so his hands are hit fairly often. He looks like one of those guys who will never realize his offensive potential as he cant stay in the line up. Still young but the issue is concerning. Makes me appreciate Melkman more for playing in 118 gms this year.
  10. That was a perfect bunt by Reyes....stay calm boys and finish this.
  11. I take back all those horrendous horrible things I said about Jenkins in the past. I feel shame.
  12. Martinez....just an unreal professional hitter.
  13. Heart stopped. Colby hasn't made many tough chances but that was well done!
  14. Juan sucks most of the time but he hit a bullet to RF....hell of a play by Hunter. How can you complain about that?!!!
  15. Now be patient Jose...get a pitch...or load em up.
  16. 0 out he jogs into 2nd with Kawa up...worth the risk at 3rd? nope. Kawa needed to get him over. We blew that 6 ways to sunday. now Jenkins rolls dice again. He is looking solid.
  17. I HATE bunts giving up outs especially in AL...but ONE guy I thought could move him over was Kawa....ok...MELKMAN ....do it.
  18. Gose - this is your moment....gap one. ....or not.
  19. Move him to 2nd...agreed. Still too expensive but less of a loss on D assuming you have someone that can field to backfill. A red pylon with a f***ing glove stuck on it would have a better defensive WAR than Reyes this year.
