  1. Back to back joey Bats and Votto would pretty much be a pitchers worst nightmare with their pitch selection abilities. Dare to dream.
  2. ...he is still a maybe. Until he proves his 84 wRC+ is real he wont be. Last season his wRC+ was 28....the year before 63. He was a 1.5 WAR with 428 PAs this year. Penny was 1.6 in 2014. Goins had encouraging signs with his BB rate 2015. The glove gets him in the everyday player discussion but he hasn't proven he can hit enough.
  3. Brunt is a careful and considered journalist. I've heard him twice now talk like he knows something we don't regarding AA's future with the Jays. He is not the type to just swim against the current unless he thinks there is a material reason for it. He inferred it may still happen but he has a view that there is a good chance it wont.
  4. WAR: 2013 - 1.7 2014 - 1.7 2015 - 2.1 We have to pick up that option for the 200 IP even though we all hate the KB.
  5. all wanted back....just one big happy expensive family.
  6. I like Tulo and don't think we are in any rush to move him but I don't see him as someone who would veto any deal out of Canada if the right opportunity came around for he and his family. His deal is longer but its much more of an asset than Reyes if he can stay reasonably healthy.
  7. Good examples. Somebody may pay a premium for that...but we shouldn't go there.
  8. I think CHP prevail with Marco. I remember when we let Villanueva walk for 2/10. Estrada is more accomplished for sure, but the emotion of his unbelievable starts in the post season needs to be left at the door. Id love to see him come back for the right deal, but he lives on the edge all the time with little margin for error. He is the type of fly ball pitcher with reliance on spotting a 90 MPH FB who could easily regress from being close to this season.
  9. Feel same. Yes we had a great season ya da ya da. Yes, we didn't hit well with RISP but Jose gave us enough. The "HR" call and the 9th inning expanded zone stick in my craw because they had a dramatic impact on the outcome...and they shouldn't have.
  10. CEO to Wal mart greeter. Good for him though to swallow the ego.
  11. They all have better things to do. This punk kids antics aren't on their radar.
  12. They all have better things to do. This punk kids antics aren't on their radar.
  13. Tulo was a longer deal and not cheap but unlike Reyes contract, he is a potential moveable asset for us if need be. There is value there. I love the guy. He is a warrior.
  14. That has a pleasant ring to it....
  15. Love ya BBBB....but ya should probably lay off the rum in the early mornin' sun. Not sayin' Just sayin'
  16. They aren't stupid. I'm sure they do. Martin and Tulo, although younger, with the $ they eat up could end up also being part of the issue if they can't stay healthy/productive at premium athletic positions.
  17. In fact I'd be surprised if he wasn't trash talking. To the victor goes the spoils. There are more mature and classy players on that team than those 3.
  18. as if I wasn't pissed off enough today..... I hope they get crushed in the WS....swept.
  19. You know I would have thought this too....but they signed Martin...they made the moves at the deadline. Then they got a taste of what the fan base for the Jays can be again from a business perspective....right across the country if we put a truly quality product on the field. I felt so long out in the wilderness as a fan in Calgary where so few I know seemed to care about the Jays, I wondered if would/could come back. It did. Its going to be interesting regardless.
  20. Id trade anyone for the right return...but Pillar is cheap and relatively valuable. there is 0 point in moving him unless he attracts the right asset(s) as part of a package. On his own value wise, we gain more by keeping him than what he would bring in a stand alone trade likely. He played his heart out this year and in the post season. In the end....the guy was even taking some key BBs. Great season for that under dog. Proud of him.
  21. Why bother? Some people want to believe the narrative that KC has a better formula than us "for the playoffs" when the simple reality is they were hotter than us at the right time....and they caught some breaks we didn't at the right time. As you said last night they hammered 1.95 HRs. Is that bad? I don't concede that they are a better team in any way other than the pen and maybe a shade on D.
  22. Great story. love to hear this. More the merrier! (and more fans=more revenue and hopefully more invested in the Jays)
  23. for sure there is and ditto. Fantasy ball helps as it forces you to really evaluate the game/deals/stats. I don't do it anymore...too addictive. even marginal posters on this site know much more than the casual fan about ball I think.
  24. 1B wastes his + arm but it has to happen. His routes and D just seems to continue to slide. He will fight it I think. Last time we played him at 3B he missed time for his back and made it clear he preferred the OF. I love the idea of Heyward but we are also going to need some pesos given we will likely lose Price, Estrada, Mark B and RA if we don't take option.
  25. Squeeze? They aren't automatic. Even a safety squeeze isn't. There are risks with those calls too. Gibby made the right call. 2 contact hitters who got affected by bad strike calls and the MVP were up. We used speed to "manufacture" scoring position, which we heard endless fapping about the Royals over. All we needed was a fly ball or a ball hit to the middle to tie it....or a hit from the best player in the AL this season. We didn't get it.
