  1. I agree...while dare to dream having that LH bat in our line up no way I want to sign him for that kind of clink.
  2. He is going to get 5/100 min $ from someone.
  3. Fair assessment. Hard to replicate this season on D for Pillar. Also don't know how he stays healthy playing that aggressively. You are probably right that he is worth more to us than anyone else.
  4. Me too. I don't often agree with GP, but when I do it usually involves me saying goodbye to players I really like a lot. lol.
  5. I think the only one "fired up" about moving these two is GeorgiaPeach and he has been consistent, if nothing else, for about 3 yrs now. He fancies himself to be the one member of a true race of superior and elite baseball connoisseurs. I think that most fans, including even casuals, will reluctantly accept moving them (assuming they waive veto) based on a number of important considerations that have been mentioned ad nausea.
  6. I cant believe anyone ever would have expected Price back. That kind of 6-7 year deal for a 30 year could be crippling.
  7. I'm a big fan of those two but to me its a question of: Where the teams sits competitively What they bring back in their final year as a rental Their veto What assets can we backfill their lost offense reducing net loss as much as possible. These are elite bats. What the market is for an extension with that kind of production (my guess it is will be outrageous even for aging players given Beltran deal etc) What the direction and plan of the org Its not just a simple matter of just dumping them off for a package of prospects. Done for the right reasons, the fan base will get over them the same way they got over Doc. AA will soon be old news.
  8. Lol. f*** off. I can like a player emotionally and want the right busines move made for the "big picture". Period.
  9. Pillar had a 4.3 WAR this year. Never saw that coming but I doubt he ever matches that again. If Shapiro believes that he may sell high in a package. I just wonder if any other GMs see any further upside in Pillar though. I think Pompey could get a consistent 3+ WAR performer.
  10. It surprises me a little how quickly many fans that supported and loved the run through the 2nd half and the playoffs are now attacking AA for spending the assets he did to make the run possible. I get why we want to build a "sustainable" winner and its counter productive to move the future and accomplish that. But you either supported the moves and live with consequences or you didn't. I did.
  11. And so he should be. He seems to be a genuine and authentic very nice person who is loyal to a fault. Very likeable. He sucks royally as a Mgr sometimes and cost us some games, but we could do a lot worse.
  12. Sept 30th 2015 Look at your first comment on Sept 30th and then your next 2 from yesterday. We don't become AL East champs without the deals AA made. You cant have your cake then and eat it too now after the fact. It was a gamble and we came within 2 Ws of the WS.
  13. Aging players signed to monster contracts you say? Yup. Going to be hard to say goodbye to Edwin and/or Jose, but we are going to have to face that sooner than I care to.
  14. Its a done deal and I'm taking it as a total positive. Shapiro has balls to go with talent. He has put it all on him right from the get go by sticking to his guns on areas of authority. I like that and I'm excited to see what moves are made as a long time fan.
  15. One is trading from strength and the other is getting the best you can before they may walk as more power shifts to the player.
  16. Could be lots of factors/scenarios. Could be 2017 and we are out of it and a contending teams SS goes down that needs one badly.....and is prepared to pay for Tulo. Who knows.
  17. The Tulo contract is a better asset than the Reyes contract for sure. The issue is what we gave up over the swap of those two players vs what we might get back for Tulo.
  18. ok. I'm obviously missing something. nevermind...just googled it. lol. Sorry.
  19. Ya...me too....because he is an underdog who doesn't get a ton of notice. But KK is a lock.
  20. Even without Shapiro/AA news I'm not sure many people give a s*** about GGS bud.
  21. Agree with that bud....except we wont be signing Price. Too many older expensive players on this team and 2017 looming large.
  22. I don't totally disagree but its not that cut and dry. Hindsight is 20/20. I remember some saw the MIA deal as so lopsided for the Jays MLB might not allow it at the time. It didn't work out well for reasons we all know. Some would argue he built up farm assets to use to acquire talent that contributed now and in 2016 that put us within a couple games of the WS this yr. IF KC wasn't on an unbelievable hot streak we would still be playing. It was a calculated gamble. I remember you posted when we were rolling after the break in 1st saying you thought you were wrong about AA and his moves were solid. I need to dig that out.
  23. I wonder if that is what Beane is saying after the JD trade (and there were other good moves that have been mentioned endlessly). AA was far from perfect but I think your comment is an overstatement.
  24. .....And then you get killed by OJ for banging hot MILFS
