  1. Brace yourself for Tabby commentary. He is gonna bust a nut over this. "Romo is a veteran. He is a guy who has done it...who has been there before...he has been a winner...and he knows how to pitch".
  2. vetrin presents Charlie's new toy. Hair on fire series coming up.
  3. Jose Ramirez BABIP is .279. He is hitting .303 with a 7.9% K rate and a 180 wRC+ 4 fWAR already with negative D contribution. Man, what a hitter.
  4. I agree on Manoah. I just threw him on the list so a Walker fanboy wouldn't post "ya you forgot about Manoah". Guy threw like 25 minors IP. If you look at Minor and MLB pitching development, Walker or not, body of work, I'm not sure how you can make the case in 7 years this FO has done a good job. I just don't.
  5. He would be the big LHH threat in the middle of our order I think we need badly. I can't see them dumping him but with Harper out and their season going up in flames, maybe we can work out something reasonable for him. He sucks on D but we can work with DH to get him PAs.
  6. FWIW I think Walker is a good pitching coach but its been way overblown. For every Ray or Manoah over his tenure there have been a lot of toads. You can't give credit for those guys without criticism for the other body of work. I just think it gets over blown either way with tons of bias. Same for hitting coaches. This phenomena seems worse for Walker though, where CW is he has some kind of magic pixie dust to "fix" pitchers since Ray. Read the posts in reaction to the Kikuchi signing. A lot of people thought he was Ray/Walker V 2.0. Worse on social media. Mr. Walker, please "fix" Kooch, Pearson, Berrios and Merryweather and ensure Gausman has no more dud outings. Borucki is gone. We wont fix him anymore than we did. The list is getting longer.
  7. I agree if that was a full year it probably would not have ended well. As it was, he got lit up by the Rays in the 1 game WC that year.
  8. About the best news was we only had to pay him about 7 and not 20 for the short year he was great.
  9. Lol. I felt like this this morning. This game has only made it worse. It's Happy Inflamed Over Reaction GDT.
  10. no chance. Robbie Ray made Walker immortal. We don't talk about the less successful outcomes.
  11. Agree. Well the good news for the pen is Berrios is at the same pitch count through 2 than Kooch is usually at after 1.
  12. Im tired of hearing about the Taj Mahal training facilities we have built that will help us attract free agents such as Kikuchi.
  13. I don't think many did. Jonn and others were correct he is a 2/3 on a contending team. Right now he is an inconsistent mess.
  14. Watching Kirk is like watching the Rudy movie over and over. It's insane. And I am very happy about that.
  15. Been on the need for an impact LHH bandwagon since last year. I like Biggio and always thought he could be/is a big sleeper part of this team. But against high V in the playoffs, even though he is raking now, he isn't something I'd keep a lock on if we got more win now back. He looks good right now. Good to see.
  16. Oakland loves a Biggio type player don't they? A throw in in the upcoming Montas deal.
  17. Must be interesting being GM of a team in TOR. You can: - 7th season in the job now - Basically take lighter fluid to a pile of $140M and burn it – Roark, Kooch and Ryu - Get blown out in a 1 gm WC and miss the playoffs by one game when you had numerous ‘21 unicorn seasons - Assemble mediocre pens in seasons when you wanted to compete in the AL East back to back. - Hold on to JD in a non compete season to later trade the former MVP for Merryweather - Fail to develop much swing and miss stuff pitching - We'll see how the $231M works out for Gausman and Berrios. Its early but so far Berrios very underwhelming. Gausman has been money. And many will say you walk on water. - While another GM gets you well into the ALCS back to back years, re-energizing a stagnant franchise. - Pushes in all the chips to sign Vlad, and bring in other key pieces - Locks up Jose and Edwin, Acuna, Albies etc to under market long term deals - Gets a WS ring while missing 3 of your best players - Acuna, Ozuna, Soroka And many will say you sucked. (Being facetious. Lots of good moves have been made but feeling frustrated this am as we slip behind the BoSox with a tough stretch of games ahead with rotation and pen issues)
  18. Good. There is no way this guy can be given the ball in a Win season again until they see something that says he can compete at an MLB level again. People talking about him finding his command likes its his iphone he left in the basement or something. He may never find it. Just reality.
  19. Lots of ball left to turn it on, but ya so far when you look at the WAR leaderboard there is nothing indicating massive long term deals for our elite players. 2021 was the movie? Nobody has gotten scorching yet. Kirk leads the team. Devers Xander Judge etc etc all way up there. We need those guys to rake but I really struggle with signing Bo's pitch selection long term coupled with his D.
  20. Charlie bats Espy lead off because based on this its important he gets the most PAs. Right? Biggio has always been a key piece given our LHH pathetic situation. Its good to see him barreling balls and BB'ing again. Espy is a solid piece, and I expect he will rebound some, but we need to be smart and ride the hot hand.
  21. hand yes. precaution i think/hope
  22. No kidding. What a gm baseball is. Biggio hopefully continues to come around and Lourdes is now raking being Lourdes hitting everything everywhere. I like Biggio turning the line up over. Espy shouldnt be in lead off ever. Tapia and Biggio both swinging it a little better from the left side deepens this line up so much. Zimmer is the eternal black hole.
  23. Is Kirk just scorching hot or really this good at hitting? Or Both? The bat to ball skills and eye just elite.
  24. Joke. Eddings should get a 10 game suspension for sucking so incredibly badly affecting the outcome of a MLB game. The accountability here is misplaced. Props Martinez - it was worth it.
  25. I have recency bias, but for the most part all he has done since he came up is hit with no AA or AAA time. And now we know he can actually also play some D. He is a great story. His swing and load are a thing of beauty. Simple and quick turn which allows him to stay back and be so selective. Don't laugh but it reminds me of Paul Molitors'. Its just a quick turn and the bat path through the zone is so good. He zones up and crushes a 3-0 the other day against the ChiSox. I mean...thats about as good as it gets for me. I would trust him more than any other hitter on this team to zone up 3-0.
