  1. Pumped for this Canada Day game even if I can't watch it. Berrios got the home opener this year packed full and was horrendous only to have the offence bail him out. Great chance for him to get some retribution today against a big rival. It's going to be an electric atmosphere. Hope we bring it!
  2. Just checked score. Wow. kooch! Always loved that guy! 3 more outs! Go Jays!
  3. We have gotten to his poo a few times but ya he can frustrate this line up. All about the chase because he will try to throw nothing with any of the plate. We always think we should crush him and then...not so much. We will need to rake in this series.
  4. I’m not underestimating luck bro or the volatility of pen arms. You always need some found money too from performance you never expected. At the end we knew the pen assembled wasn’t strong enough with inevitable injuries. And it hasn’t been. I hoped for a cautious showing of value from Pearson but Merryweather I did think when and if healthy would be more effective. How many playoffs have we watched since 2015 ish where the pens played so much in the outcomes? A wipe out pen has pretty much become an essential element of any run. In other words it needed more focus and attention IMO. Let’s see what the deadline brings and at what cost.
  5. I mean it’s a giant f***ing hole for us the last two years and for me that’s on him. Not like they haven’t had development time or financial resources. So for that and other decisions it’s a reasonable conversation after this season.
  6. At what point does this FO, 7 years in, become accountable for the impact of these 21 and 22 pens? They have had time to develop and acquire without having to pay through the nose with assets at deadlines.
  7. Yep. If Vlad wants it to be "my house" and call hits he needs to do better vs the Strahm's of the league in the 9th with a W on the line, consistently. No wonder the BoSox were chirping him. He got a little BABIP luck the night before on the walk off. With Bo I don't expect nearly as much. As you said he is Baez +1 on hit - 1 on D.
  8. Those haunters are starting to add up. Eerily familiar to 21. The no sunglasses game, these and a couple others stand out. Poor ABs vs the LHP in the 9th by Bo and Vlad are all too representative of this season. Missed their pitches. Chase. Rinse repeat. I know Vlad has been hot. Bo had his moments. But unfortunately we need them to be elite pretty consistently. 1/10 with 5 K between them. Especially with this pen and Kooch/Berrios issues.
  9. The pen isn't good. In fact it's bad. But some better at bats by our 2 and 3 hitters and this isn't even into extras. It's a W. Game was right there for us.
  10. Contrast the Vasquez and Springer ABs with Bo and Vlads. Frustrating.
  11. Late twice on 94 and then chase. Let's go Vlad.
  12. Got it done ugly Romano but this pen no bueno. Romo No No!
  13. Not getting the no Teo unless it's a message about last nights double off. Which seems self flagellating are this point with a W on the line.
  14. f***. June feels like October. I want us to win this game so badly. Bo almost got that through to tie it. Nice play.
  15. Agree with this except Richards cost us Tellez and he wasn't really awesome. He was pretty good and an upgrade over Chatwood et al to be sure but during the late run he regressed overall. He gave up a particularly majestic home run to Stanton in a game I made in Tor in Sept that we had to win to make playoffs. That performance wasn't an isolated enough occurrence.
  16. A SP of value/control will cost the most. Pen arms of value and an upgrade on Tapia should cost less and can offset to a large degree the Kooch and Berrios factors. We need to pray big money and prospects signing Berrios finds it because if he doesn't it's simply a very steep hill to climb for our Jays. Without a pen remotely resembling the Braves pen and their performance in the playoffs last year we are not going anywhere.
  17. Hard to believe the names Thornton and Refsynder almost settled a big game between Jays Bosox and it's almost July. Makes me over joyed a certain someone didn't come in to pitch for Boston.
  18. BoSox have some mashers mashing this year. Strip giving all anyone can ask. Props.
  19. Not sure all the reasons here for discipline. Sure it can happen. human beings. do the crime take the time. MLB is always going to crack down on negative interaction with fans like that by players 100% of the time. Even if its egged on by the fan. Why? Because they are fans/customers. Its a slippery slope for players they don't want to see ever get out of hand. As an aside, as a Bruins fan I remember Mike Milbury climbing through the stands in his skates and hockey gear pounding fans who threw something at them lol. Its not a good look for the brand.
  20. Interesting. I think the value of Guerrero and Bo is going to be a hugely interesting issue/question over the next couple years. Things can change some over the next 80 games but whats a reasonable AAV and term for a wild swinging barely adequate defensively SS? Its a position that usually doesn't age that well. 7/200? I have no clue. Seagar, Story, Simean, Baez deals all over the place. He has some rare talents but I wouldn't want to give Bo that.
  21. Berrios has been better but its only because of a couple of elite deeper starts mixed in with the stinkers. He has been dogshit and his savante page confirms it.
  22. Goldy has a 199 wRC+ . Another big season he is putting together quietly. Makes me think of that brilliantly managed game by Charlie when he maneuvered Borucki vs Goldy, which ended with a walk off GS. I think about that game and the lack of sunglasses game sometimes and hope I'm not having to do that on Oct. 2nd. We end the season with 6 against BoSox/NYY.
  23. Phelps? What is he really? Seems like a smoke and mirrors high wire act of impending doom to me. Saw some analysis Laika posted last week that I think answers the question. Is he someone with stuff in his arsenal that we can actually count on in playoff type leverage or is this just going to end badly?
