  1. I agree. I'm sure there were some other underlying minor irritants. I now expect if they can find a deal that makes sense one or two of their regulars will be in a deal. They are gonna shake the team up. Maybe McGriff and Fernandez? Hopefully Shatkins had also had enough of some of the on the field baserunning sloppiness etc. This does send a message. Heat does turn up on them now.
  2. My sentiments exactly. Wish him all the best. Move that needed to be made. Now over to the FO to address the gaps.
  3. Hmm. When did they start? I forget. Dec 2015? Bo was drafted 66th pick in '16. 2016 is more like ShAAtkins. What a s*** show that must have been. Anything good/bad you have to give 'em all credit for it.
  4. W is a W when you are struggling no matter how it comes. Great win tonight Jays!
  5. Yep. Will go to my grave regretting we didn't invest more in the pen and impact LH bat with that team. Cheap stellar seasons from Semien, Ray and Matz and a break through from Manoah. Elite Bo and Vlad seasons and overall great health compared to say Atlanta who won the whole thing. And we were hot in September going into playoffs. It's ironic that so far in 22 by almost every metric this team is not doing as well.
  6. How about Alvarez for Zimmer? Both are LHH. Both are tall. Both have blood in them. But Zimmer gives you more speed and is better on defence. Deal?
  7. He lost me at the first line bro. Losing 6/7 is more than luck....and what something like 10-11?? Just bad timing on his quote. Of course he is under a giant microscope because we suck lately.
  8. I can't "thanks" on my iPhone but this is money funny. Bravo Terminator.
  9. Lol. Funny. I'd also say in terms of markets, even the talking heads you mention above are very gentle when looking for viewers, compared to some media markets in our division. It's pretty soft overall. That's ok. But man let's fire this thing up 2nd half! We suck right now.
  10. I agree with this. I was just saying I like Barker better now lol. Not that he is going to Jedi mind game Ross with his barely comprehensible southern drawl.
  11. I agree with this. Last year when he started helping the guys put on the HR jacket never sat well with me. If players want to I guess. It's like he is trying too hard to be one of the guys and liked. I think most of us want Charlie gone. This FO hired him and sticks with him. It's on them as far as I'm concerned. Sutter will joke with his team but they fear and respect him and ya occasionally he f***ing yells at them. He also uses playing time as a reward or punishment. Some baseball managers are same but it's usually harder to see in the dugout or clubhouse. Some of what Charlie may do or say we will never see or know. Yelling all the time has a shelf life. Charlie's comments about how they played well losing 6/7 still ring in my ears.
  12. No. I used to hate Barker, but at the risk or heresy OTB, he has gotten a lot better. He knows he was a top prospect who failed. His technical understanding on hitting is excellent even though he often admits he couldn't get it done himself. I like some of his stories about Winter League all over hells half acre he played in Mexico, Venezuela, DR etc. He is blunt both positive and negative much like Siddall. Blair is just annoying. Rather have that than mushy, empty, cheerleading and clichés from the likes of Tabby all day long.
  13. Ya. Screaming all the time and ripping no bueno. In terms of the offence it's speculation 100% but my guess is the FO thought it would be even better and cover up for lack of arms depth/effectiveness until they could add at deadline. Most of our guys aren't where we hoped they would be at the plate first half. It was a risky calculation but I think that was it.
  14. Well you know I'm same. I never ever tune in just for them but today Charlie was played on Fan 960, Calgary Sports Morning Show I occasionally listen to in the morning, and it was played because it sounded so bizarre.
  15. In many cases I agree but all sports have some managers/coaches that are far more insightful and open. And as a result they have and give the org cred. I live in Calgary and as one example Darryl Sutter is money. He just doesn't give out empty vessel quotes and he is candid/blunt. They still haven't won anything lol, but they get more rope. You didn't pay attention to and respect Gibby's media interactions more than Charlies? I did.
  16. Yep. 100%. Friend of mine was a corp COO in TOR at the time and they bought a lot of Jays sponsorship etc. As result AA had to have obligatory lunches with him. AA point blank told him they got rid of Valencia and kept Collabello that year because Valencia was a complete ******* and cancer, even if he raked LHP. Said he was only about himself and only talking about his deal etc when they were trying to win a division. He also had lunch with Jose and others and got some good stuff. Always loved that gossip.
  17. I know what a leader is and has to do. And I realize public vs behind closed doors two different things. I've been around a few moons. But c'mon. There is a way to face reality publicly that threads that needle. I'm not saying lambast your team. "Everyone in that room knows we can be better, and play better. We are going to take this off day to regroup and refocus and go for the W tomorrow one win at a time". Whatever....lots you can say without the Baghdad Bob routine. What he said costs credibility. Who was it that wrote "the ship in sinking" in Gibby's first tenure? I forget his name. speaking of possible cancer intrigue. Then there was Ted Lilly.
  18. Boone was almost chanted out of town at gms in '21 when the Yanks skidded and the FO was flamed. If we were BoSox or Yanks, heat would be HIGH. In retrospect, in '22 that doesn't look like the brightest thing for media & fans to have done as they now laud the same people running their record breaking team. I do think some heat at Ned Flanders Atkins is more than warranted at this point. I'm not saying fire them. Personally I can't even listen to the guy. He talks in more platitudes than Tabby. But its fine and warranted to continue to have a hard look at the team and direction. Montoyo needs to go, but is a bit player in this years disappointing results to date IMO.
  19. Just heard Montoyo interview quote this morning: "It was a 1-6 road trip, but we played well." Almost spit out my coffee. I don't know how you can square that circle. W's matter and more often than not reflect playing well.
  20. I know. It's the weirdest thing. Mind you I can't stand either team. Yanks for purely selfish reasons!
  21. Such a freak season for Yanks. Pick up Matt Carperter has 10 dingers and an OPS of 1.317 in 62 ABs. At some point this Midas touch has got to go somewhat sideways and I'm hoping it's the playoffs.
  22. So glad there is an off day! This has been brutal to watch. Can't - look - away. 6/7 L to OAK and SEA. Dark forces are at work.
  23. FFS! Just as I hit send we are now behind. Jesus. Back from the dead Santana.
  24. Always love to see the IF running in call off the C on that play. Big out given away.
