With all due respect, ********.
I mean, are the rules of this forum "virtue signalling" or rules that we have in place because we're trying to create boundaries for posts on this board? Defining what you will and will not put up with doesn't mean you're "virtue signalling", it means that you have a clear idea of the kind of crap you won't put up with, and don't respect.
Are there people who do that performatively? Of f***ing course there are, but the Jays not wanting to sign Bauer (which, y'know, they haven't actually said, so what is the "signal" there?), or getting rid of someone who wrote a gay slur in their eyeblack, or not wanting someone who beat the f*** out of their girlfriend on the team isn't some sort of show for others, it's the values that the team is trying to foster. It's creating an inclusive workspace for others on the team. It's meting out consequences for actions.
This idea that people are only "good" for show is f***ing stupid.
