  1. I think this is legit a major reason for this. Not the only one, obviously, but Florida is f***ing HOT in July, dome or no.
  2. You will note that baseball and hockey aren't the same sport. I thought the skates were a dead giveaway...
  3. I won't disagree with that, but we have a sample size of two Florida MLB teams, neither of which can draw fans. That's literally the only data we have. I mean, even the year the Marlins won the WS, they were second last in attendance in the NL.
  4. The agent isn't doing anything without Matz's okay. Matz is the one who didn't want to see what the Mets' counter offer would be.
  5. I hope he's a fast mover. That kid's got swag for days, and it would be a delight to watch him join the core group.
  6. It would be virtually impossible for them to have a better product, and they're simply unable to draw. Also, the Marlins can't draw for s*** either, they're consistently at the bottom of the NL attendance rankings, so it's not JUST St. Pete.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-best-of-2021-yearbook-superlatives Looks like the jacket is popular.
  8. NHL stadiums are like 1/3 the size of MLB stadiums. Minor league stadiums are like 1/10th the size of MLB stadiums.
  9. As long as we could structure it where he doesn't take up a 40 man (or 60 day DL - Since there are times when those have to be returned to the 40 man briefly and could cause us to have to waive someone we otherwise wouldn't want to waive) slot, which I assume would have to be a minor league deal.
  10. Reasonably priced depth. Would I prefer to have Ray or Gausman on the team? Obviously, but there's a place for a pitcher like Matz on every team.
  11. That actually wasn't me! I mean, I fully support the decision to punt all spammy dickfaces to the moon, but I am not strictly to blame here... If only because I didn't see it first.
  12. The only reason he signed for that little was because he failed his physical...
  13. Sal Fassano did the "power squat" at times, depending on the count etc (I don't know when he utilized it, I just remember announcers commenting on it when he was a Jay)
  14. There's only like 4 games in an NFL season, it really doesn't mean anything.
  15. Maybe Boston and New York will have all their players and staff vaccinated if they want to field a full team in Toronto. I mean, there have been issues where players with visa or passport issues haven't travelled with their team to Toronto before, and no games were forfeited in those cases.
  16. Most jobs these days require you to be vaccinated, can't really avoid it. I'm sure some people will complain, but I don't imagine the vocal minority can win on this point anymore.
  17. I don't have any actual information on this, but it really seems like position players in the rule 5 draft rarely stick around, at least lately. It seems to mostly be about teams plucking pitchers they can put into the pen.
  18. Anyone heard anything about Giles? Is he still alive? Could be a nice add on an MiLB deal if he's remotely healthy.
  19. I mean, he's PROBABLY better than Grichuk (though maybe not), but he can't backup CF, so... like, who do you want him to replace?
  20. All those years of Frazier being a "top prospect" based entirely on his uniform for naught, they couldn't even trade him for way more than he was worth! Yanks be slippin'
  21. Nobody wants to rely on Pearson as a lock for the rotation, because most people learn from history, but he's typically mentioned as a "maybe" for the rotation. Selling him now would be selling low, and just a bad idea. Unless we somehow got top prospect value for him in a trade, I wouldn't be moving him this year.
  22. Oh, right, Brad Wilkerson was the other shitbag we had after that that became "Mencherson".
  23. Lots of praise for the city and organization. Nice to hear that Toronto as a whole had enough of an impact on him to make this possible.
  24. Let's not overlook the fact that future money is less expensive than present money. If the last few years of Berrios' contract are ~$25M, that likely has about the same impact on the bottom line as $20M does in 2022 dollars.
