    Can we get something clear here... There's nothing wrong with responding negatively to someone else's idea. That IS contributing and no one should feel bullied into silence because they didn't contribute an idea of their own. That's just childish. BBBB, you need to take criticism and negativity better or I will VERY GLADLY ban you again.

    That's usually what happens with prospects though. You rarely regret selling high but occasionally, you really, really regret it.

    Well sure but I think the larger point is that the numbers get more reliable as you move up. Players are more developed and so is their competition.

    The gap between Thole and a likely replacement is probably a lot smaller than whatever the theoretical value catching the knuckleball effectively represents. This seems to be the conclusion that the current front office has come to and it's not a very hard one to come to the same conclusion as a fan if you really consider the kind of value a backup catcher brings to the table. I agree that it shouldn't be considered impossible to train a new guy to take over the roll but it's probably not even worth it in 90% of cases.

    That's the rub. There's already Martin, there's already Tulo. That might all the front office is willing to carry in terms of big contracts to players with declining skills and it's certainly not unreasonable of them to feel that way.

    Backup catchers generally suck and I can't really see ones who don't lining up for the Dickey gig.

    As bad a Thole is, Jimenez is not realistically speaking an upgrade. I'm open to giving the job to someone else but giving it to Jimenez isn't worth the hassle.

    I'm only 6'0" but all my length is in the torso. Pants are always too long and shirts (unless they are XL) are always too short.
