  1. I'm rooting for him. In my heart, Syndergaard and D'Arnaud are still our guys. I'm not going to let AA ruin that for me. I really hope I can cheer for both of them in Montreal.
  2. A good ole' Etobicoke guy like him would waive it for the Blue Jays right?
  3. Yep is was bad but the team had backed itself against the wall with the Marlins trade. They took on a bunch of salary and sacrificed a lot of future and they needed to make sure it worked so they kept adding. Truth is if they were going to do the all in thing, they should have done more. Trade Sanchez too, build a truly great team, one with an actual starting catcher and an actual starting 2B. I wasn't crazy about the direction they took but once they did, they should have been even more aggresive. They left too much to chance and they are doing it again. If the plan isn't to trade Bautista while he still has value than build around him properly. They keep half-assing it and it's getting the team nowhere.
  4. Nice that the lackey also seems to understand why he lost. #nerdpower
  5. Jays just asked what it would take to land Dickey and the answer was Syndi + D'Arnaud and the other prospect. I'd like to think they would have accepted Sanchez as a 2nd choice but that wasn't necessarily AA's preference.
  6. If he's smart he'll let the lackey handle this and keep his raging private.
  7. So what's the deal with Paco? Is this just about the youth and K-rate or is there more to the story?
  8. I did a bit more research tonight and I basically concur. You can pretty much ignore value at this point and draft for need.
  9. The tune sure has changed. Earlier ITT it was all about the hidden value and the interesting guys.
  10. Now there's a comforting thought.
  11. His feed must be just the most unreadable stream of Twitter diarhea. Pitty the poor lacky if he has to actually read it.
  12. It just seems like your taking a stab in the dark to me. I don't see a rationale for the optimism.
  13. I don't mind that. It's the follow back stuff that's pretty pathetic.
  14. From what I've heard he's had a good winter ball season but other than that I can't see any reason to have that kind of faith in him.
  15. I was suprised he was still around. Haven't thought about him in a long time.
  16. The club's plan to get the most of out of Happ was to change his arm angle.
  17. I wouldn't rule anything out. Spring training results will weigh in the front office's decision (maybe more than they should). If I'm right that he still has options than there's no way he's a lock although he's definitely a favourite in spite of what we saw today.
  18. Which affords you some patience... One of the things that makes trading prospects tempting is to simply pass on whatever decisions may need to be made about a guy's viability to someone else.
  19. I'm pretty sure Happ had an option last year which is why he was originally slated to start at AAA. He ended up pitching 5 games in the minors but that may habe been considered a rehab assignment. It might still tecnically be possible to start him in the minors. Whether the alternatives would actually make that desirable is questionable. It would piss him off but I don't really care about a 6th starter's ego.
  20. It's much easier to trade prospects when you're in a race and you're only focused on your short term needs. You just accept that you might be sacrificing the long term and don't dwell at it. It's much harder to move prospects in challenge type trades although those are utlimately more fun, rewarding.
  21. I don't know how rewarding it is when you're just doing it because you're out of room. I guess I'll find out soon.
  22. I'm in full on prospect hoarding mode. If nothing else they make good currency.
  23. Market value on prospects has fluctuated in this league. It has fluctuated throughout the year and I will probably fluctuate from year to year as well. I wouldn't assume they will alway be overvalued. They might be but certainly not always overvalued to the same extent. Some of the trades that happened early in this league's history may never be repeated.
  24. We both lost that trade in a sense but you have a longer window to work with and win a championship anyways. I have already cashed out on my half of the trade which sucks because the combined value of my return on Zimmerman and Lester is far lesser than Fernandez (unless someone like Odor or Glasnow breaks out in a ridiculous way). I'll pat myself on the back for making the Fernandez pick in the first place and hope lightning strikes again.
  25. Dominguez was the top projected player on the board, he's only 24 and only blocked by Middlebrooks on my roster. That was a fairly easy pick but I didn't have much of a Plan B. I had a few other names in mind but I'm not convinced they made any sense that early in the draft. Heck I may have jumped the gun on Dominguez but it's hard to go against a logical fit. With this not being a snake draft, there's a ton of time between picks so I should have time to gather more information. I'll trade down if I don't feel up to the task.
