What do you think of the Vikes drafting Bridgewater?

I don't know that anything's really changed about Seitzer. The idea that he could fix a s***** hitter like Goins was proven to be ludicrous. The team's s***** hitters Sierra and Goins hit like s***** hitter. The good hitters have hit like a good hitters. The only exceptions are Melky, Lawrie, Francisco and Thole. Melky was only a s***** hitter when he had a tumor so to give Seitzer credit for that would be a real stretch. Homeruns aside, Lawrie actually seemed to have a better approach under Motolla and we don't know what if anything Seitzer has done to fix Francisco. You'd expect a guy with his kind of power to go through hot stretches. Maybe what Francisco is doing is like Bautista breaking out in september of 2009 but it could just as (if not more) easily be a repeat of Randy Ruiz that same September. It's not necessarily because of Seitzer either way and it's way too early to tell. Thole will not BABIP nearly 500 all season. That much should go without saying. It's a good offensive team overall. That's not something new. Mottola seemed like a good coach and the change still reaks of pointless favoritism. It doesn't really do much for my general impression of Gibbons but it's basically inconsequential. Other managers staff their teams with their buddies all the time. I guess that's their prerogative.

With this draft being as deep in pitching as it is, this would not be the right time to swith philosophies. Eventually the team will have to stop handicaping itself this way but this would be the worst year to make the change.

Of the starting pitchers, only Morrow has underperformed. Dickey has been frustrating to watch but overall he's about as good as should be expected at this point. McGowan has had issues but to call him an underperformer when he's pitched so little over the last few years doesn't really make any sense. No one was even counting on him to make the rotation. Hutch has exceeded expectations. Buehrle has been very successful but for the most part, he's basically pitched like he always does.

There were four prospects that CatAss wanted: Betts, Rodon, Urias and Glasnow. Glasnow was the easiest to part with of that group. Maybe that's what Cat's was banking on when he put him on the list with the other three. In any case, Rosario blew any other secondary piece I could have gotten right out of the water. He actually becomes the primary piece and reduces Skaggs to secondary. I was willing to be generous to get that package. Glasnow and Rodon were about to get squeezed by the upcoming draft and DL returns repectively so it made sense to use them to get what I hope are core pieces.

The key to the AGon sweepstake is a big time prospect who is in the majors, close to the majors or at least far enough along to be activated. There are two offers on the table both involving a pitcher who fits the description. The haggling has involved me trying to get the most value out of the secondary pieces.
