  1. My fiancée bought herself one of those when she was drinking.
  2. http://gifs.houseofthebluebird.com/wp-content/uploads/StoetenEatsDotGIF.gif
  3. I like Choice. He's definitely not a guy to write off and McGuire certainly is.
  4. I enjoyed the hell out of Aaron Hill's steal of home. A bright spot during lean times.
  5. Choice isn't really a big deal either. That still left Trout on the board which was the real issue with that draft.
  6. I wonder how many of those were on the Jays radar. In 2007, just about every mock had the Jays selecting Mesoraco and in 2008, it was thought the Jays would draft Wallace or Lawrie if either of them fell to them. I don't remember how closely linked they were to any of those other guys.
  7. The deadline is July 18. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?page=mlb_calendar
  8. Jays are not in a position to take on a contract if rumours are to be believed. If anything they may have to bundle dead weight like Romero along with prospects to off set any salary coming in.
  9. That was what I was reffering to when I mentioned the Junior Varsity league.
  10. I mean with Hurl not being available, I think it's a no brainer at this point.
  11. The minor league numbers were never that good and I tend to think scouts are full of s***. The reason I didn't like Drabek is the same reason I don't like Sanchez now. Too much conjecture and not enough results. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=drabek001kyl
  12. Was Carlos Gomes like that? lol. I'm just kidding but at the same time given what we know about Gomez it really wouldn't surprise me.
  13. Let's just move it to the deadline. It just makes sense that way anyways. Let's us know which of the draftees signed and gives us a bit of extra minor league data to go on for the non-draftees.
  14. This quite simply is not true. Only people who were responding to hype were in love with Drabek. Anyone who looked under the hood noticed that the numbers really didn't support the hype. If his last name wasn't Drabek, there's no way he would have cracked any top 25 prospects lists. Some prospects that look totally legit bust (Snider) but Drabek's prospect ranking was B.S. from the start.
  15. I'd take Lind and Skaggs. Lind's number are a bit depressed right now because of time missed but I could see him bridging the gap between him and Morneau by the end of the season. If if he doesn't, the gap would have to be awfully big for Skaggs not to make up for it anyways.
  16. Thole and Francisco are probably it as far as lucky hitters good. Obviously, someone like Encarnacion won't always be this good but he is a legit grest hitter. To doubt that at this point would be pretty idiotic.
  17. Yeaht that's an interesting comparison. Gomez finally broke out when his coaches gave up on making him a slap hitter and let him swing hard like he wanted to. Is that what's holding back Gose? I kind of doubt it but it does show that just because a guy has speed doesn't mean that a typical leadoff hitter approach will work. Everyone's wired a little differently. Gomez maybe more differently than most.
  18. For some reason, I thought we had already implemented that change but maybe that was our Junior Varsity league. I thought the argument for doing it later was pretty sound but maybe the counter-argument is that a month might be enough time to forget what you thought you knew about the current draft class as the draft coverage fades in the memory (this may only apply to olds like me).
  19. So what's the rush to have the draft? Shouldn't we wait until the signing deadline?
  20. So there's been interesting developments with my farm. With Profar out and Odor starting to hit, it might actually be viable to activate him. Combine that with my recent trade of Ed Rodriguez and I suddenly have a bit of room to work with on the farm. I might actually take on some extra picks for MLB assetts. Nothing sexy just rosterable players for late picks kind of trades.
  21. Probably true but who really cares? Every team has to d0 81 of these ceremonial first pitches in the season. A majority will be done by people we don't give two f***s about. It's a cute little P.R. stunt and good on the girl for nailing the pitch.
  22. The problem is that no one is going to trade you immediate help for Rasmus. Anyone who wants Rasmus for half a season will want to deal in prospects and keep their Major League assetts. Best case scenario is a three way trade but I think in all likelihood, Rasmus gets a Q.O. from the Jays at the end of the season. Gose could still do a lot for the team in a reserve role.
  23. Given how much value he can provide defensively, I might actually be fine with Gose every day and Pillar used strictly as a reserve or a platoon DH. Whenever Gose isn't in CF, I miss having him there. The Jays may grow to feel the same way.
