  2. That kid Yan Gomes is pretty good. Wonder if we could trade Esmil Rogers for him and some middle infield help?
  3. + 1.6 runs so far this season. Exactly the same number as Yan Gomes. This team doesn't value (or doesn't know how to value) catcher defense.
  4. Oh and let's not forget Yan freakin' Gomes.
  5. Wastn't there an issue with Larusa in the World Series where he and the bullpen coach couldn't understand each other on the phone?
  6. That .056 number is sure to regress (positive regression in this case). I would consider that a cause for optimism more than one for concern.

I'm a casual too. You forced me to look it up because for a second I thought I had somehow miscounted the games.

BRK hasn't lost yet. The series is 3-2 in favour of Toronto.
  9. Tolleson / Getz is basically the same thing.
  10. Dat power http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=32452275&sid=t422
  11. After smoldering for awhile, things are heating up in the AGon sweepstakes thanks to the emergence of a new frontrunner.
  12. Agreed. Reservations about Ramsus aside, CF is one of the positions the Jays can most easily afford to not address. There's Gose, there's Pompey, there are a lot of other CF prospects in the minors while there are other positions where the cupboard is about to become completely bare. Middle infield is already a concern and the offensive postions like 1B, DH and the corner OF could dry up very shortly if they aren't addressed.
  13. I'll take the Clevelands.
  14. Yeah kind of surprised Gose got this assignment instead of Pillar or Mastro. At least this means no Bautista backing up CF.
  15. The backup SS job is becoming a real problem for the team. I think it would have been a good job for Goins but he was set up for failure by being miscast as an everyday player. I don't know anything about Tolleson's defense. If it's really good and he's a bit more fundamentaly sound at the plate, it's an upgrade. If his defense isn't good than the move is pretty pointless. Like Diaz, he bats right-handed so at least he's a platoon option. Getz/Tolleson might be serviceable. I think a lot of us would have preffered to see Shimpf get a look even though he's left-handed. He and Burns are the only middle infielder in the minors with any kind of bat and Burns has been flat out terrible so far this year.
  16. Tolleson is all kind of yuck. A 236/.345/.333 line in AAA from a thirty year old? Only the OBP is decent and even that is really nothing for AAA. Garbage in, garbage out.
  17. Holly s***! Did not expect this. I guess Melky's injury finally forced AA's hand. This really should have been done when the Rasmus injury happened but at least it's finally been done. I hope Sierra gets claimed so that AA isn't tempted to use him again.
  18. When Rasmus looks bad, he never just looks bad, he looks so terrible that you wonder how the guy could ever get a hit. If there's a reason for optimism with Rasmus, it's basically that we've seen him look like this before. Even when he had his best season last year, there were points where he looked this bad. If there's a reason for pesimism, it's that he's had seasons where he's looked bad pretty much the whole way through. At the very least, he's showing us the kind of risk you take on if you extend him. That being said I hope he at least bounces back enough to at least be worth a qualifying offer.
  19. It's hard to get a feel on the whole situation. McGowan seemed to cross a threshold in terms of durability in his last start but he still wasn't all that effective and his overall numbers are still bad. He's probably done no more than earn himself another start. If McGowan is over his fatigue issues, that's reason for optimism but optimism has to translate to better overall results at some point. He's still very much on the bubble.
  20. Pompey is one of the reasons why losing Kenny Wilson is a non-issue for this team. Centerfield is probably the best position of minor league depth for the Jays.
  21. I was going to say he must have had one hell of a lead but that's against a righty!
  22. No amount of shuffling is going to change the fact that the lineup is one player short. Shuffling your established players out of position just so you can try a different unestablished player with a limited skill set will probably just compound the problem. Who would have imagined when Kelly Johnson left that two seasons later he would still be missed.
