  1. I have offers out to Sammy, TorontoFan and Boxy. No one seems to be checking their PMs.
  2. Is it just me or was 2nd Leg to Stanton listed as the letter k for a bit.
  3. I find Sean Ian Reid-Foley to be quite the douche-tastic name and it also seems to fit the character.
  4. I don't get the Sean Connery reference.
  5. Some of these tough signs may simply be insurance against another Bickford scenario with Reid-Foley. That years the Jays gave themselves somwhere else to put the money they saved on Hollon and others.
  6. I probably come closest to that description but FTD's picks are too low for even his highest pick to be of any use to me. Same problem with BTS his picks are so low that a 2 for 1 only helps him and does nothing for me.
  7. I pretty much know who I'm taking with each pick at this point but i'm hoping to bump up some of the earlier ones to avoid surprises.
  8. Pick 37 and/or pick 56 are available for an upgrage on any of my first four picks (4,6, 14, 28).
  9. Do you think you can clean up the OP? Chop it off at the last completed round I guess.
  10. I'm not sure I understand the substance of the discussion above. Is somone not fielding a full roster?
  11. Just activated Nicolino. Dumping Fulmer.
  12. --- Insert old school rah rah ******** about how you want your players to be hungry ---
  13. It really has been impressive. He has quite a few offense first players on his roster and he's found a way to get the most out of them while still fielding a competent defense.
  14. I agree with the first but strongly disagree with the second. Buck is f***ing awful. He goes off on diatribes rather than commenting on the games and even Siddal has no choice but to get roped into it.
  15. Siddall is better than Tabby but it's Buck who is the real problem. He drags Siddal into the same drawn out diatribes that he drags Tabby into. The main difference is that Tabby seems almost gleeful to become Buck's echo chamber and belabour the same points while Siddal is thankfully a bit more reserved.
  16. And you wake up one day and you're over 30 and you're career is over and you have nothing. Minor leaguers are well aware that they are lucky to be living out their dream and they certainly don't have a monopoly on bad work conditions. They certainly are luckier to be doing what they do to be a part of the working poor. It's better than Wall-Mart but that's not a reason to be a selfish jerk and show no sympathy. Baseball is ruthlessly capitalistic. The elite make tons of money and what what trickles down to unwashed masses is basically peanuts. It's symptomatic of the issues with our society at large where there's no real solidarity. It's all about getting ahead and screw everyone else.
  17. When AA became GM, he increased the food allowance for players but a food allowance is a terrible idea in the first place. Every team should have a nutritionist/chef on staff who caters meals. Trusting player's to not eat crap and pocket the money is pointless no matter how high the food allowance is.
  18. My favorite player to root for is Eric Kratz. He's not a guy having a big impact, he's the guy I'd like to see have a big impact. I even considered changing my avatar to KingKratz but decided that I should honour the memory of my deceased cat rather than erase it so that's not happening. As far as players who are having an impact, I love to see Hutch having success. I called him the best pitching prospect in the system a few years back, ahead of the big 3, so in a selfish way I'm simply glad to be vindicated but far more importantly, I'm glad he's come back so well from his injury (something I had huge doubts about) and I think his success is a huge, possibly season saving, break for the Jays. I also want to give out some huge props to Steve Tolleson who has given this team a huge lift. This team is like a whole new team now that they've found a way to deal with the 2B situation and the unspectacularly competent Tolleson has turned out to be a great under the radar pick up for the Jays. Even if Juan Francisco dissapears, the Jays at least have someone who could be part of a solid 2B platoon with say Kawasaki. That's a whole lot better than watching Ryan Goins every day (I genuinely feel bad for Goins for being so miscast, it's not his fault that the team was asking way too much of him). And finally, who cannot enjoy Bautista answering the haters. It's easy to forget the extent to which the fan base was starting to turn on him. Even the usually innofensive Jerry Howarth was on his case. Bautista silencing his critics just feels very righteous.
  19. It sounds like he could really benefit from a demotion but there just aren't any call up options right now. Maybe Korecki when his 10 days are up? Wagner is pretty seriously injured and all of Stilson, Rasmusen, Draberk, Nolin are dealing with lesser ailments.
  20. The key take-away from Lott's piece: The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander, a bullpen stalwart last year, knows he has developed a tendency to drift toward third base as he lifts his left knee to start his delivery. As he tries to compensate, what happens next affects both his command and velocity. “Essentially, I’m going one direction and then I’m trying to throw another,” he said. “It’s like you’re fighting yourself.” He has been working on adjustments, but it’s not simply a matter of going to the bullpen in the afternoon and fixing the problem for that night’s game. For one thing, a reliever knows he must be ready to pitch every night, so regular bullpen sessions are out of the question. For another, like a slumping hitter trying to fix his swing, the restoration process doesn’t happen overnight.
