  1. It's not merely a minor league deal though. It's a minor league deal tied to a 2.5. million dollar poison pill. If the deal becomes bad the second you use the player, what's the point?
  2. Viciedo if he makes the team will make nearly 1 million dollars more than Valencia to be a less versatile version of the same thing. This is not a good allocation of funds (and yes I realize that the funds aren't spent yet but if the only two options are a) don't use him or overpay him, I don't really get the appeal of the contract).
  3. He can only be better than them if he has a huge breakout. He's defensively limited and his only strength is hitting left-handers something the team already can do quite well without him.
  4. I know Pillar is an OF and I forget that Navarro is a switch hitter because he's stronger from the right side. My point is that the team has potentially plenty of right-handed part time players who can DH against left-handers, all of which have more defensive versatility and make for a better allocation of roster spot than Viciedo. Meanwhile, the team doesn't have many left-handed options. Add to that the fact that the offensive core of the team (Bautista, Donaldson, Encarnacion) is heavily right-handed and it's hard to understand why Viciedo would be in direct competition with a lefty and a switch hitter.
  5. Given that Valencia, Pillar and Navarro are all right-handers and already in the fold, why would Viciedo, another right-hander, be competing with the lefty Barton and the switch-hitting Smoak?
  6. What's the connection between Hoffman and Boras?
  7. Yeah hard to imagine that under Friedman's watch.
  8. How many short side of the platoon guys does this team need? There's already Valencia, Navarro and Pillar. Does this team really need to (potentially) spend 2.5. million on another one?
  9. Top 50 in slugging in the AL on the short side of the platoon. Plan the parade.

Demar can do a lot when he drives to the net. He's just not coached properly. There's no coaching Bargs.
  11. About all he has going right now is youth and a decent split.
  12. Hard to believe Viciedo is still only 25.
  13. Fair enough. Brown doesn't have a split.
  14. Is Viciedo really more interesting than Andrew Brown?
  15. I like Karns least of the four but I took him first because he has the most hype.
  16. If he had as spot he probably would have been a keeper for me. Dropping him and getting him back as late as 65 works out pretty well. I've basically been hoarding young pitching as this draft, Karns, Oberholtzer, Desclafani and now Elias.
  17. Roenis Elias selected. Apologies to fans of Justins.
  18. Look up the meaning of the word pathetic and tell me how I'm being judgmental and ignorant? It's a fair assessment. I'm just using the word in its literal sense nos as an insult.
  19. More colour f***ery: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/02/27/12-fascinating-optical-illusions-show-how-color-can-trick-the-eye/?hpid=z6
  20. Despite the talent and the success, he's kind of pathetic. The incident with the father dying just adds a layer of messed up to his life story.
  21. If only I had better more useful skills, like your people skills for instance.
  22. I love this move too. Mostly for nostalgic reasons but I'm not ruling out a resurgence. If it does happen, it would be awesome for the Jays to be the benificiaries. If it doesn't well very little lost other than a maybe a bit of time.
  23. This is a slideshow montage waiting to happen.
