    Going to write a piece on baseball books as Christmas presents when we get closer to the Holidays and further away from having interesting things to say. Since I never did do that book column I promised, I now have a backlog that I could cover in a survey piece.

    Would someone mind taking the first "and" out of this sentence (alternatively, someone more fluent in English could just rewrite the sentence. I find it awfully hard to parse and I wrote the damn thing.): When faced with multiple worthy candidates, I prefer for the player who I expect to have the best career and to be rewarded and that would be Correa who I think will be the franchise over in Houston.

    The Dickey effect suppreses fly balls (that's basically what it is) so Estrada benefits in either scenario.

    Yes that's what I'm saying. What I'm asking is WHAT DOES have to do with his bad defense. Just age doesn't really satisfy me as an answer. Age shouldn't rob you of all your instincts which seems to be what's happening. We're not talking about loss of range which obviously would get worse over time. It's like his judgement is gone.

    Popular stocking stuffer for sure but I wont shell out for anything less than Blu-Ray. Paying money for less than broadcast quaility is anethema to me.

    I'm a bit confused by Bautista's play right now. His shoulder is healthier and his throws have gotten better but his ability to field balls seems to be getting dramatically worse for no apparent reason. Not sure what the deal is.

    Of the two, I'm not sure Estrada is the one with the better FIP beating track record.

    I think Dickey in the dome tomorrow following a lot of hard throwers today is a good formula.

    Oh I agree. I think it's generally terrible. I hate the slavish devotion to the 100 pitch limit and the rigidity of the bullpen roles.

    Giving the Royals a free look at Osuna is dumb. This is the same mistake the Rangers made in the ALDS.

    No big surprise. Zaun always takes the player's side in a dispute with an ump.

    Well that would be a disaster. Pillar would basically have to cover the entire outfield.

    I hope he's okay too though to be honest he's one of the most easily replaceable players at the moment. Drop-off to Pompey would be pretty manageable.
