  1. So is Westhead a reliable source? That reads a lot like someone pulling something out of his ass.
  2. Well trade was brilliant but somewhat marred by the fact that the money wasn't re-invested and Napoli was flipped right away.
  3. Acta has history with both Shapiro and the Jays Dominican players and no he's not managing anywhere. He and Sandy Alomar would probably be leading candidate if Gibby is let go. I think Gibby stays though. The team will want to establish some kind of continuity with the team that went to the playoffs.
  4. He was talking about Duquette.
  5. Demotion? Where are you coming with that? He was only being asked to work under a different Team President and we know that he went to Beeston with deals. There's nothing to suggest a demotion.
  6. You think only 3 people dislike you?
  7. Free agent season is about to start. Shapiro doesn't necessarily have time to clean house. I think it could go either way. A manager search probably is probably pretty low on the list of priorities.
  8. Did you forget about the part where they already tried the ass backwards approach of hiring the GM first and ended up with Beeston? There's really no evidence that Rogers handled any of this wrong this time. You make your hires from the top down. That's just sensible. If AA ended up being the collateral damage of taking the right approach, that sucks but it sounds like they wanted to keep him and he just didn't play ball.
  9. You're saying that the org should have given Shapiro less authority so that more authority could have gone to a GM that wasn't even signed.
  10. I don't think it was fishy so much as ill thought out and stupid.
  11. Beeston says a lot of things.
  12. AA wasn't under contract. What was Shapiro to do? Put a gun to AA's head and say sign here?
  13. Bringing in Duquette to be Team President did not imply they wanted AA gone. I mean SOMEONE had to replace Beeston. You're reaching.
  14. This was the second time that the Jays were trying to get the new President to work with a GM already in place. That's a tough trick to pull off and it's how the Jays ended up stuck with Beeston in the first place. If Shapiro was willing to compromise and keep AA around and not bring in his own guy and AA still wanted to take his toys and go home, what more was there to do?
  15. He was just as likely to pull a terrible one as an incredible one and he also had two off-seasons where he was nearly completely asleep at the switch (2013-2014, 2011-2012). Don't get me wrong, he had his strengths and having him work under better guidance might have been the best of both worlds but I guess he's a bigger prima donna than he let on. Well if that's the case, I don't see what the Jays could have done. Giving him more authority would have been disastrous and this situation couldn't be allowed to linger any more.
  16. Well if AA wants to be a dummy about this then let him. He needs the Jays more than the Jays need him. Lacava and Tinnish are still around and will presumably get promotions.

Can someone explain to me the rationale behind drafting guys like Caboclo and Nogueira? From my perspective it just seems like a huge Hail Mary, the basketball equivalent of signing that Belgian baseball player (Sam Buelens). Why would you invest a top pick in what's basically an experiment? Do NBA teams have a track record of success with these kind of guys?
  18. Boys, if you can't play nice, go play outside.
  19. Well I'm not going to subject myself to this much longer.
  20. Wouldn't it make more sense to use a LH outfielder to platoon with Cola rather than another 1B? If you put Revere (or Saunders if he comes back from the dead) in LF agains righties and push Pompey to RF, you can then slide Bautista to 1B or DH (with EE in the other position). I thought people wanted to transition Bautista away from the OF and yet I see lot of suggestions that involve bringing in more 1B/DH types and sheding OF depth.
  21. Though I agree with you that wasn't the point being made at all.

So what purpose will the divisions serve then?
  23. I'm torn, on the one hand I think he's full of s*** enough to just make this up but on the other hand I think he's enough of a piece of s*** to have actually done this. He even pulls the douche-tastic "I had to do what I had to do to support my family" even after explaining that he could only do this once he had a lot of money.
  24. Kratz in an interesting option but the ship may have sailed. He's going to be 36 in 2016. That's awfully old in catcher years.
  25. I'm assuming you mean the good kind of Smarties, the Canadian kind, not what Americans call Smarties which is what we call Rockets (and might as well be chalk).
