  1. This is ok I guess. He's old and looked horrendous to close out the year. But we had to do something. I'm just worried the wheels come off and he's not even a viable starter for us for any portion of the 2 years.
  2. Lol The Jays say this about everyone, including when guys sign for very little like Gibson or Lindbolm. What was so significant about the Jays offer that he turned it down to sign for peanuts with the Brewers?
  3. I'd like to see the Jays take a chance on this guy. Ive read that he has huge exit velocity. Seems like he has a decent penchant for walks too. Could be a nice middle of the order bat. The defensive limitations are a concern but that'll help drive his price down anyway. Some sort of 2 year deal w a player option would be pretty cool.
  4. Pineda back to Twins for 2 years 20 mil.
  5. I remember him being comically bad in the OF back when he was young and a lot skinnier. I can only imagine what he looks like out there now.
  6. Atkins checking in on 1st and 2nd tier free agent pitchers:
  7. If Wheeler is getting 120 million that Gibson deal is going to look very solid by the end of this offseason. So will the Anderson trade.
  8. I see what you are saying but it's hard to eat ~40 mil a year. I think at bare minimum he can at least be a 4th OF.
  9. I tend to agree that Grichuk would probably be a non-tender candidate normally but his job is pretty safe after getting a 5 year extension.
  10. Lol imagine being his agent in that hearing. Not a lot of ammo in that hearing
  11. I f***ing knew it.
  12. Maile and Law non-tendered according to Davidi and others. Shoemaker HAS been tendered. That's all I've seen so far.
  13. 100% agree. Canceling Sam Dyson over a cat's instagram post would be retarded.
  14. This front office most definitely lacks the testicular fortitude to go anywhere near any player that has ever been linked to any DV matter.
  15. Jays are going to tender Drury. I can feel it.
  16. Dyson is definitely a douche but holy s*** is that post from the "cat" insufferable.
  17. Good post. Anderson does look like a FIP beater and it's hard to believe Steamer's projections for Gibson when they are predicting a career year at age 32. They are probably closer in talent than most think. I think both players and their respective transactions were good moves though.
  18. I'd love to know that offer. Perhaps we did make a sizable offer and he just didn't want to come in which case there's nothing Shatkins could have done.
  19. I don't understand you guys lol. I'm not saying Gibson's a slam dunk, every FA carries a sort of premium that contains risk. But 3 years and 30 million (or whatever reasonable number it would have taken to beat that) is peanuts for a pitcher projected for 3 WAR next year. No QO either. Will be interesting to see what other 2 starting pitchers we get that are going to be better than Gibson and his deal but I'm skeptical that will actually happen.
  20. A man of your talents using ERA? Really? He's better than you think. Uptick in Ks past 2 years which coincides with a 2 year spike in FB velo. Very good GB% and not a ton of walks. Unlucky with BABIP, LOB% and HR/FB compared to career norms. I'm on mobile so I havent checked his statcast numbers so unless theres something there I'm not sure what's wrong with him. He did get nicked up toward the end of last year I guess? Or maybe they think he becomes a 6K/9 guy again as he gets older and his fastball velo declines? He's not an ace or anything but at 3 for 30 he's not paid anywhere near one either.
  21. I would have been fine with it as well. Steamer projects him as a 3 WAR pitcher for 2020. There's still guys like that left but there's also a lot of teams looking for them and we desperately need 2 of them.
  22. Yeah that could be better if they want to focus on developing Biggio's defense at 2B and Villar has a lot of speed that should help him in the OF.
  23. I mean if they are just giving Villar away I'm tempted to take him and play him at 2B and have Biggio become a 1B/2B/OF guy.
