    Is it possible that Eric Sogard could actually net some sort of nominal return at the deadline? Slashing .305/.376/.495 in over 250 PAs. Maybe an NL team would give up a lottery ticket for him?

    It kind of is actually. When a large portion of the team is young players there's a huge correlation between how well they are playing and the W-L column.

    It's remarkable at how this season went from absolute dread to the optimistic rebuilding year we were all hoping for in about the span of a month. P2F talked me off the ledge back then so props to him for seeing this season coming back around a bit.

    Yeah Cocaine seems pretty likely to me. Can bounce back and pitch every 5 days. Opiods is possible too, seems a lot harder to pitch while doing that but you're right, athletes can and do get addicted to that. Brett Favre was a pretty famous case of that happening.

    Why is Sogard playing in RF instead of Biggio? Are they showcasing Sogard in the OF before the deadline or something?

    Agreed. I'm not expecting Top 20 or 30 guys but I want a top 100 guy for each, plus some Top 10-15 org guys thrown in as well. Position doesn't matter a whole lot but we all know what our needs are. I don't even care so much about age either, they don't have to be close to big league ready. Pay salary, throw in Sogard or Galvis or something if you have too, but the goal should be quality prospects. No more Drury's.

    Orelvis Martinez is off to a hot start in the Gulf Coast League. Slashing .333/.406/.667 in his first 7 games as a 17 year old. I didn't realize how big his bonus was. Long way to go but he could be something special.

    Yeah seems like that is really an issue for him. Also seems like Lebron has identified this and is trying to ease his concerns about it. This sounds really really close.

    Lol I can't wait. He's kind of a clown. I hated him ripping on Alen Hanson (who we all know was going to be demoted any minute) earlier this year like he's some ace who is only not winning because of the defense behind him.

    That's pretty crazy. If the Lakers miss out on Kahwi wouldn't they have to at least kick the tires on giving Boogie a 1 year deal worth something more than the vet minimum?

    New article on Fangraphs about Gurriel. His success this year is largely due to the fact that he's mashing Sliders. He's had 45 ABS end with sliders and 7 of them have been homers.     Starting to get more caught up on these. You guys are doing a great job. Stick with it and go ham on twitter trying to promote this. I loved the Bauer discussion. Even though you guys probably don't agree with him politically you are able to compartmentalize that and still offer your true opinions in that you think he's good for the game. I feel like that's rare among baseball writers these days. Quick question- What are the real life/board names of everyone involved? You guys all have good radio voices too, damn!

    If you're a hardcore armchair GM like most of us are this one of the best times of the year. I thought this might be a useful thread as the trade deadline is going to be heavily discussed in both the Around Baseball and General Blue Jays Discussion threads. I figured we could post all trade deadline stuff here including rumors, hug watches, hypos, etc. When an actual Jays trade is made it will likely get its own thread. The General Jays and Around Baseball threads can still be used for all other every day baseball talk like on-field play, injuries, call-ups, etc. If this is a bad idea, everyone can tell me to f*** off and a mod can delete this thread.     Yeah Dudley is a pretty solid defender. That Daniels guy is a good shooter. Kuzma is an ok starter. Then the two stars. They really need a PG though.

    That's exactly the type of realistic deal we should be trying to get. A legit Top 100 prospect and a couple of 45s on top of it.
