  1. Lol well put
  2. Club options this year for 8.5M and next year for 9.5M with .5M buyouts both years. Not exactly cheap but provides room for surplus and if he sucks we can cut bait after a year. He's starting to get up there a bit in age but this isn't a bad move assuming he didn't cost much.
  3. If he is in fact a FIP beater (as he appears to be) he looks pretty damn good to me. His RA-9 WAR is consistently good.
  4. Yeah he doesn't look bad to me. Projected to make 1.7M in arbitration is what I read.
  5. Oh god please don't play him all year. Very easy way to add a couple of wins is to spend 5 mil on a one year deal for a decent first baseman.
  6. Why do you like Drury?
  7. It's not so much the money as it is the roster spot. Why waste a 25 man roster spot on a 32 year old Ryan Tepera? The dude sucks. We can dumpster dive for someone cheaper and likely better.
  8. Drury is absolute trash. Valera is better and makes 1/3 of what Drury does. I really hope Drury is gone.
  9. Yeah that doesn't exactly scream the words "job security" to me.
  10. What is Shapiro's contract status?
  11. Good question, needs to keep finding work as his production slides which isn't always easy for old DHs anymore. Needs to play 3 more productive and healthy seasons which will be years 37, 38 and 39 for him. If I had to bet on it I'd probably say no he doesn't get there. All it will take is an injury or a dropoff in production where he starts hitting 20-25 homers a year instead of 35 and he probably won't make it. I hope he does though!
  12. No worries! I only know that because I thought about him playing CF too until I looked more into it.
  13. He'd be one of the slowest CFers in the league. I don't think he could do it.
  14. I hate him more than anyone on the team and never liked him from the start so I'm in total agreement. He should be playing in the Mexican League. But despite him being the worst player on the team they never optioned him all season (while Tellez, Teoscar, Gurriel, etc. all were) and kept giving him good chunks of PT. He'd be gone in a second if it were up to me but for some reason Shatkins seems to be higher on him so I'm not 100% convinced he's gone. I really hope he is though!
  15. Wouldn't surprise me if they kept him though, they've given him a long leash so far. Could probably avoid arb with him and sign him for peanuts.
  16. Why do you think he's a lock just curious? He's had over 1500 ABs of replacement level production and is 27 years old. Hell, he's trending in the wrong direction even.
  17. Looking into this some more and Fangraphs gives Valera a 50 grade for defense at SS. I'd obviously prefer someone better but he could be an option for the UT role if that grade is accurate.
  18. Agreed. I'd non-tender Drury too who is looking at a raise on top of his $1.3M. Are there any close calls?
  19. I agree, Urena is trash. Just not sure if Valera can even play SS though. Valera's bat is mildly intriguing. Steamer had him projected for a wRC+ of 88 entering the year. After a solid 2019 his 2020 projections could be ok. Could be some sort of Yankee magic there as well as you mentioned. But like BTS said he doesn't have options so he's very fringe. If he can play SS though he might be worth giving a shot if we want to pinch pennies because if he can't do it we'd prob have to look outside the org.
  20. I quit paying attention toward the end of the year. As of now it looks like Urena or maybe Valera could be the UT guy next year? What's up with Valera? Can he play SS? Is he a viable Ut guy? Bat looks ok enough if the D is there.
  21. Here's some offseason roster talk to get this thread back on track. Let's say Teoscar, Gurriel, Grichuk and Fisher are all on the 25-man next year. None of them can play an acceptable CF full-time can they? But if we do acquire a CF that would mean carrying 5 OFers which makes no sense for an AL team that sometimes had a 2 man bench last year lol. So either one of the previously mentioned 4 would need to be traded or optioned or something but I don't see why we would do that. I suppose one could DH too. But what about Gurriel playing 1B and becoming a corner OF/1B? Leaving the DH spot open and having Gurriel play some significant time at 1B could help the logjam a little bit. Is that a good idea?
  22. Jim I said I was sorry
  23. Assuming my risky pick actually hits I'll take the Astros
  24. You're right, sorry Jim that was rude of me.
