    Would you guys do the Berrios deal in fantasy? I have Martin and SWR and was offered Berrios for the both of them.

    Hand and Soria are clear upgrades on the slop we’ve had. Also, we have 6 starters now and Stripling has a lot of experience in the pen where he has a 3.28 career FIP. So acquiring Berrios is likely to improve the pen as well.

    Dodgers didn’t give up as much for Scherzer and Turner and the Jays gave up a whole lot more for Berrios than they got for Stroman. Crazy

    We’d only trade for Yan if a Catcher was on the move which would likely be Kirk. Twins have decent catching options so not exactly sure they’d want Kirk. But you know who doesn’t really have any catching throughout their system? The Indians....

    Riley Adams sucks and we don’t need 5 Catchers on the 40 man anyway. Hand hasn’t been great but he’s still better than 4 of our current relievers and has some upside. The only crappy thing is we aren’t getting any salary relief at all but who cares we are a big market team. It’s a solid trade.

    Luzardo sucks. He can't even get outs in AAA. Billy Beane sold the Marlins a bag of fool's gold. He gets Marte for the rest of the season and doesn't have to pay him and then gets a pick after the year is over.

    Don Cherry, Pierre Trudeau and Wayne Gretzky are all greater IMO.

    Friedman doesn't care. Or at least he didn't used to. He's the guy who signed convicted rapist and fringe major leaguer Josh Lueke in the hopes that he could squeeze 50 mediocre innings out of him. And Friedman did it 3 years in a row. Things are different now but if Bauer avoids charges he will be back.

    Reese is a good enough backup (hitting left handed helps there) but there's no way he should be playing over Kirk. And that goes for Jansen too. Now that said, if there are defensive issues and "young catcher stuff" that Kirk needs to work through then I can see sitting him more than your average starter. But otherwise he should be playing.

    Ain’t nothing about that story is funny. I feel bad for the guy. Ended a very solid career on a sour note and by all accounts he seems like a standup guy. In some ways he was the sabermetric poster boy for his era and he deserves better.

    A 6th rounder who can hit 98 and signed for under slot sounds just fine to me

    Ah yeah I vaguely remember that. I was pretty young so I don’t remember a ton but the general consensus (which didn’t mean much especially in ‘98) was that he was a good manager bc the team won 88 games. But that team was stacked. Clemens had an all time great season to go along with big years from Delgado, Green and even Tony Fernandez.

    He's not a guy you bank on to shore up 3B but he is the type of guy that's good to have in the system to provide depth. He could suck sure, or he could turn into an MLB starter. He'll probably end up somewhere in between. Seems like every other week the Dodgers call up some fringe big league 25 year old like Smith who then goes on to contribute in part time roles for the team. We need to strive to have that kind of organizational depth and guys like Smith is how you get there.

    He was awful here. Carried a "get off my lawn" type of attitude that made him anything but a locker room benefit. And then yeah he got MeToo'd recently which hopefully keeps him out of the Hall.

    Why is everyone not ranking Tim Johnson? He came after Cito so he is recent enough.

    Yeah Tim Johnson was probably the worst one we had. I don't remember if he actually knew the game or not but his constant lying got him fired after just a single season. I remember some of the players talking tons of s*** about him on his way out.

    When the news broke, 53 year old Albert Pujols immediately logged into his Instagram account and unfollowed Bauer.

    Yeah and on top of it how many of those guys even run their own Instagram account. Clearly Bauer is a big instagramer bc that’s where he macks on chicks but a lot of them are run by marketing teams.
