  1. Yeah he doesn't seem that good to me. xFIP was over 5 last year.
  2. I agree that you've characterized the discussion around Vizquel, and what writers think of him, as being accurate but Ozzie Smith was significantly better across the board. Better baserunner, better hitter and better defensively. The gaps between the baserunning and offense might be even greater than the defensive gap. Vizquel was simply a good player and nothing more!
  3. That 2015 one is pretty nails
  4. What I'm saying is that James Paxton will be a Blue Jay next year.
  5. Seeing lots of Boras talk lately after this signing. He's not exactly the guy you want your favorite team's players to hire but otherwise the Jays should embrace him. He cares more about money than anything else so all the talk about free agents not wanting to play in Canada or sign in the AL East for a losing team doesn't matter as much. Just be the good old fashioned highest bidder and you've got a great shot at getting his guys.
  6. Puig rules. Would love to sign him.
  7. Geezus will someone please take the bongos away from the guy
  8. I know this won't ever happen but the Jays should just get this Vlad at 3B business over with and sign Josh Donaldson to a 4 year deal. Would take us from a .500 team to legit WC contenders.
  9. This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
  10. Olney deserves an "Ok boomer" for that one. Yeah there is risk for Ryu and every other FA out there but he doesn't even need to hit 160 a year to earn the contract. He's super talented and can crank out a lot of value even if he's not pitching a bunch of innings a year.
  11. Has some upside but he probably sucks. Would not be upset if they got a legit CF and got rid of him.
  12. Ryu is getting a straight 20 mil per season. Seems like a good deal for the team moving forward instead of the usual escalation.
  13. Now that we got Ryu can we all stop pretending that Tanner Roark is serviceable?
  14. Been harsh on Atkins lately but he deserves props. He did the ole "trade a player and then sign another" move that fans always suggest but it rarely works out like that. Traded Stroman for SWR and Kay and then used the money that would have gone to a Stro extension anyway to replace him with Ryu. Impressive.
  15. Good question! I think they probably should shore up the roster as much as they can. If the young guys explode next year we could be pretty good.
  16. The playoffs will be easy to make
  17. Scherzer fears Ryu. Atkins got a steal.
  18. Ryu is a stud. He was an ace last year. If he averages 120 IP a year he likely provides surplus. Very good signing.
  19. Yeah with Price it's all about how much money they eat. He makes 32 mil a year for the next 3 seasons. How much would he get on the open market?
  20. EE could still be possible but I think this probably makes it less likely. But they could option Tellez, dump Drury (I don't think his salary is guaranteed), and sign EE. EE can play 1B and Shaw can move to 3rd or 2nd when needed.
  21. No one, and I mean no one, will deny Ross Atkins in FA.
  22. The rotation and defense look really really bad even if you consider Roark and Anderson upgrades. So does a bullpen without Giles as you mentioned. We might be the worst run prevention team in the league. Gonna be a rough year unless Atkins has some big things planned for the rest of the offseason but with few viable FAs left it will take prospect capital to do so.
  23. Significantly upgraded from last year? No, not really. And definitely not the 10 wins Shapiro claims the FO has added lol. Stroman gave us 3 WAR and Steamer doesn't think both Roark and Anderson combined will do that. Anderson is probably better than Steamer gives him credit, but still, we added 2 backend SPs who project pretty poorly for 21 mil AAV, while losing 2/3 of a season of a legit #2 SP. That's not exactly groundbreaking improvement.
  24. Do you believe Shapiro when he says that? We may improve by 10 wins (which takes us to a whopping 77) but it isn't due to anything the FO has or probably will do. Roark, Anderson and the Japanese guy might not produce more WAR than Stroman did in 21 starts last year. Any improvement at this point is almost entirely due to young players improving. There is still time to improve the team but there are maybe a handful of FAs that would actually make a difference. We'll see if they actually use prospect capital to improve the team but that's a lot trickier for a franchise whose true window of contention is probably more next year or the year after. I'll gladly eat my shorts if they do something though. There is still time. I just don't think they will.
