The Angels are going to finish with 70 wins and the Jays are going to threaten for 100 so Vlad Jr. is my heavy favorite. Ryu is a prohibitive lock for the CY.

Dylan Bundy or Eduardo Rodriguez in dynasty?

Thanks for the participation ya'll. Just kind of something I was pondering earlier today and wanted to see what everyone though. It's crazy how fast things can change with pitching prospects. If you told someone before the season that you thought Manoah was the better prospect they'd think you're crazy. Now it looks like it's trending the other way.

Manoah or Peason?

I don't think the technology is 100% accurate. It has produced some very odd strike calls from time to time.

Really nice work there. Crazy how many close calls he got exactly right as well, down to a half inch.

I think they are a pretty decent team. Suspect pitching but a solid lineup could help them ride a hot start into year long contention. Despite their recent penny pinching, if they are in it I bet they'll add at the deadline too.

The best example of this is when AA, who inexplicably used the 25th roster spot on washed up vets, signed Omar Vizquel who put up -0.9 WAR in 150 ABs. If I remember it correctly, it was later revealed that he carried a "get off my lawn" type of attitude while with the team and was also accused of multiple domestic violence incidences.

Sign me up. Get him some reps at 3B and he can be our new UT guy.

Completely changes that AB.

I can't help but think that outside influence (media/fans) played a factor during this whole debacle. I'd like to thing the injury just created a hazy situation that was tough to navigate but why would they lie about the "fatigue" excuse? That part was to obviously save face. -Hurts his oblique. Then he hurts his quad as he's nearing a return. Media and fans getting really antsy at this point. -Plays full intrasquad games but then they didn't call him up during that Tampa series even though they teased like he might. Why tease his return? That whipped everyone into a frenzy. -Then they finally bring him back but he's a DH only? If he's not ready for the field then why bring him back? Could it have been to appease the fans/media after teasing that he was coming back? -Then as a DH he basically wins us that game he hit 2 homers in but later on he starts grabbing at his leg a couple of different times. He has the awkward flailing AB and is removed right after for "fatigue" which we all knew was BS when the excuse was given. -Then rather then putting him on the IL and getting another bat up here (Tellez was optioned bc of Springer and can't come up for 10 days) they run the "fatigue" excuse again. So we run a two man bench for one game and have installed Joe Panik as an everyday player yet again, even getting him starts at 1B. -Why make up the fatigue excuse? Seems like because they didn't want to admit that they rushed him back too quickly until they had to. What a mess!

Springer beyond the 10 days? For f***'s sake. And lol @ the fatigue ********. They really screwed the pooch on this one.

I always thought Valera might be a potential guy. If you look at his stats he saw a jump in homers in AAA in 2019. It's probably due to the AAA ball and everyone getting a jump in homers but I do remember reading on how the Yankees changed his swing to produce more LA. I'm sure Atkins is all over it but I wouldn't mind giving him a try at some point.

I'm sure they kicked the tires on Miller. It seems like they did with Marwin Gonzalez too. But sometimes it's tough to get guys to take your money. We had a starting infield, outfield and DH all accounted for and the Sox and Philly (especially when the universal DH seemed like a thing) were better bets for playing time. I'm sure that's partially why we went with Panik is because he came for cheap on a minor league deal.

I'd say that theory certainly passes the eye test. Seems like he hits tons of those floating line outs to the OF. Doesn't hit them hard enough to get over their heads and not soft enough to fall in front of them. Even in yesterday's game we saw it in his final two ABs. His game log is filled with them: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/joe-panik-605412?stats=gamelogs-r-hitting-statcast&season=2021

Yeah he's young enough that perhaps he could be a passable bat and we just don't know it yet. Given his track record the odds aren't in his favor but it wouldn't hurt to give him more time right now while we are so dinged up and have such s***** infield defense.

Yeah Panik, despite limited playing time, has provided the most negative defensive value at 3B the past couple of years. I could see putting Panik at 2B over Espinal but I don't think I'd play him at 3B over him. As for the bat, I think they both suck but Panik has a better eye/bat control and bats left handed. No idea why he bats ahead of Gurriel though.

I think he has to be down for a minimum of 10 days but yeah I agree. If Panik and Jansen are going to get a lot of ABs moving forward then Tellez will always have some use.

We essentially had a 2 man bench tonight with Springer being unavailable. I assume we'll see some moves tomorrow.

That's not bad at all.

I usually cringe at my posts when old threads like this come up but my posts hold up pretty well here. Just thought you guys should know.

Exactly

They look pretty decent to me. I think they might stick around.
