    Yankees have a brutal remaining schedule too. 3 @ Boston, 3 @ Toronto and then the Rays for 3 in NY.

    So even if the Yanks win tonight we will still be tied with them in the loss column and our remaining schedule is more favorable. Jays: 4 @ the Twins, 3 vs Yanks, and 3 vs the Orioles at home Yanks: 3 @ Red Sox, 3 @ Jays, 3 vs the Rays at home The Red Sox also have an easy schedule (Yanks, Orioles & Nats) and will be 2 games up on us should they win tonight. We might want to cheer for a Red Sox sweep (sorry Grant!) when they play the Yankees. Today's game sucks but eeking out the W last night was huge. We are still in a good position to make the WC.

    I used to hate Gurriel's defense until Dickerson started a game in LF and there wasn't even an attempt to throw a runner out at home on a single to left with a runner on second. Gurriel's glove is a frying pan but he's not a complete statue and he has a cannon.

    Lol @ the Yanks and their 300 million dollar man Stanton trying to dunk on sorry ass Lindor (the 2021 version of Odor) and failing massively. I really hope they back in to the 2nd WC spot. The Wild Card game will be easy to win.

    If we make the playoffs Montoyo could win back to back MOY awards. He’d be ready for a fat extension at that point.

    So when we win home field for the WC who would everyone prefer to face? The Red Sox or the Mariners?

    It's more Yankees benefit. Replace Walker (I only used him because they are being inducted today with similar WAR) and insert any 70-ish WAR player into the conversation and it's still the same. Just using MIF and Barry Larkin, Lou Whitaker, Craig Biggio, etc. were all close in value but none are considered his peers talent wise. Cal Ripken Jr. (92.5 WAR!) was the far superior player and he isn't either.

    Yeah and Richards who could be used in a big spot as well if necessary though I wouldn't normally use him in that way. My guess is Mayza, Soria and probably Romano aren't available. That leaves Richards, Merryweather, Cimber, Pearson and Saucedo. Not sure how I would stack that group up. Probably like this: CL: Cimber SU: Pearson SU: Merryweather MR: Richards LOOGY: Saucedo

    It's amazing how much being on the Yankees propelled his career/stardom. He and Larry Walker put up about the same WAR and Jeter is treated like he's on the same level as Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Wayne Gretzky whereas Larry Walker barely made it into the HoF.

    Mayza threw two days in a row and Romano warmed up one day and then pitched the next. Could see Pearson and Merryweather in big spots today.

    Lmao, one of my friends is a Yankees fan and he posted that story to our fantasy league group chat like it proves that Derek Jeter is the GOAT or something.

    The worst one is the Cubs' drip hat. It's a C that's dripping with white stuff. I'll let you guys make the implication.

    Oh they are 100% making it. MLB will no doubt try to rig it to get that Yankees-Red Sox WC game but the Jays are too good to let it happen.

    2.5 back of the Yankees and 2 back of the Red Sox. The playoffs will be easy to make.
