  1. That said I know this board actually has taken some steps to de-politicalize which I am in support of so I'll just leave it at that.
  2. I think it has marginalized fan interest in the NBA to some degree in the US. I'm sure China has picked up the slack. But everything has gone woke in recent years. I don't think the NBA (who has probably taken it further than most others) or most of these other company's feel they have a choice right now and they might be right. The left went from kill the corporations during Occupy Wall Street to Political Corporatization in the matter of a handful of years. Nike knew what they were doing when they signed Kaepernick. I mean hell, Kaepernick a couple of weeks ago made two tweets in a row that highlight where we're at right now. The first was him calling the 4th of July a celebration of White Supremacy and the 2nd was that he just signed a deal to make a docuseries for Disney lol.
  3. It's not about the profanity. He's ESPN's top NBA reporter. By definition he should be pointing out the NBA's hypocrisy and asking the league the tough questions. At a bare minimum he should at least refrain from defending the league from any criticism it receives. Instead, he got offended that someone would dare criticize the NBA which means he's failed in his duties as a reporter and is instead a water carrying stooge for the NBA and China. This is why the politicalization of every aspect of life, including sports, has been such a bad idea. Lebron (who laughably started a #FreeWoj trend instead of a #FreeHongKong one), Woj, and all the other woke athletes out there are complete and total hypocrites. The Michael Jordan approach is much better because I don't really give a s*** when he doesn't speak out against China because he doesn't speak out against anything, he keeps his politics to himself.
  4. So after taking a beating for years on end I see that the liberals have finally given up and closed down the political threads lmao
  5. That's brutal but anything could happen in 60 games. So while I think the tough schedule definitely hurts our WC chances, all these division games increase our odds for the division.
  6. How does service time work now? Can we hold Pearson out for a week and get an extra year of him? EDIT: Yep it's one week.
  7. This season is going to suck. I thought with expanded playoffs it might be kind of fun but now I'm not really that excited for it. The positive COVID tests are going to constantly be an issue throughout the year. I hope some shitbag team like the Marlins lucks their way to the WS.
  8. Gotta hold him out for 2 of the 10 weeks to get an extra year of service time.
  9. The 2006 team was also a fun team. Maybe 1 good starting pitcher away from the playoffs. Won 87 games that year and that was the year Towers lost 10 games or whatever it was.
  10. Speaking of post WS teams, that 1998 team was a fun one. They ended the season on fire but it wasn't enough to overcome a poor April. Lots of good players. Clemens won his 2nd consecutive CY with us. Delgado mashed. Green had a 35/35 season. Stewart stole 51 bases. Canseco hit 46 homers. Tony Fernandez balled at age 36. Dave Stieb even made a comeback.
  11. Decent on paper but no depth at all, bad defense and a few blackholes throughout the roster. Had some solid players but no stars providing surplus to cover for problems elsewhere either. Kind of fun to look back on these old teams though.
  12. I think Seattle would smash us. Pitching wise we do probably have the edge because of the two Roger Clemens seasons. Otherwise they have Randy Johnson to matchup against Doc and then Felix and Stieb are probably similar. For position players they have A-Rod, Griffey, Edgar, Beltre, Vizquel, etc.
  13. 1B, OF and SP seem particularly strong. Probably RP too?
  14. Yeah Gonzalez edges him out in overall WAR but he played 7 seasons with the Jays and Scutaro played 2. I would take Scutaro.
  15. Is it just me or are All-Time Blue Jays teams incredibly non-controversial? Just find whoever has 20+ WAR at each position and plug them in.
  16. Bottom of the 7th is on now! Rangers have only f***ed up twice so two more f***ups and then it's the bat flip.
  17. That’s a good point I didn’t think of that
  18. Josh Lindblom or Kevin Gausman? Gausman in the Giants stadium should be pretty solid right?
  19. ESPN released a list of the biggest "one hit wonders" for each MLB team. Aaron Sanchez and his 2016 season was the choice for the Jays. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28941911/the-biggest-one-hit-wonders-every-american-league-team
  20. So how does it work exactly? Can I play in a league with 30 real life people? Or do I just play against the computer?
  21. Not really sure. He must be hurt still?
  22. Boras rules. Think of all the extra millions he's gotten for players by squeezing penny-pinching billionaires who get public funding for their stadiums.
  23. Is there anyone other than Panik who needs to be added to the 40 man? If not everyone should be safe but for Alford. But if someone like Brian Moran or AJ Cole makes the team then we'll have to make a move. Or maybe they put Dolis on the 60 man and give him 2 months to get his strength back and get ready.
  24. Anthony Alford is going to hit .300* this year. Watch. *in the Mexican League
  25. Espinal suxxx. Could be better than Drury but that's not saying much.
