  1. Beasley stinks and was taking up a 40-man spot.
  2. Well what about White, Bass, Pop and Merrifield? Surely those guys are comparable talent-wise to the 4 you mentioned? I'm not sure what the Twins gave up either but my guess is they gave up a lot more.
  3. This is just full of doozies. Every time I read it I find another one. Pros: -Surprisingly he doesn't whine about losing Groshans. Cons: -Whit Merrifield is merely a "Bradley Zimmer replacement" -Claiming that a 23 year old A-ball pitcher was one of our best prospects. Buddy, if a 23 year old isn't dominating A-Ball then he isn't even a prospect. The Yanks just traded 3 Nick Frasso's and got a half season of slap hitting Benitendi. -Whines about losing said A-ball pitcher while making no mention of Alex De Jesus who ranks higher than Frasso on some prospect lists. -Uses literally one stat, strikeouts, to evaluate the entire deadline. -Claims that Max Castillo is a better strikeout pitcher than Mitch White based upon 20 big league innings for Castillo. (No projection system thinks Castillo will K more than White.) -Doesn't realize that Bass actually is a strikeout pitcher now because he throws his slider more. -Makes a big deal out of an extra season of control on Castillo over White but makes no mention of every single player we acquired having multiple seasons of control. -Makes no mention of it being a seller's market For the foregoing reasons, I'm going to have grade this post as an F for displaying such a heavy lack of knowledge of the game and an overall whiny attitude.
  4. Pros: -Mitch White looks like a legit backend starter. -Anthony Bass isn't a sexy pickup because he doesn't throw hard and he's old but he was one of the best relievers moved this year. -Pop has good potential he just needs to gain slider command. Even if he doesn't he's still very serviceable. -Merrifield is a very underrated pickup. He was a 3 WAR player last year and outside of a horrid April he's basically been that same guy. Good projections and the dude NEVER gets hurt. Picking up a durable and versatile 2-3 WAR player like this is a great move. -All 4 of these guys are under control and cheap for next year or beyond. The 2023 Blue Jays are just as good from this deadline as the 2022 Blue Jays are. -Alex De Jesus is an actual prospect at a position that we develop pretty well. -We really didn't give up s***. A slap hitting Former Top 100 prospect that is falling fast, Max Castillo a guy who has had 20 good innings after a mediocre minor league career and a 23 year old A-ball pitcher. Cons: -We added White over Castillo which is an upgrade to our pitching depth but it's razor thin and we did the bare minimum to address it. -I would have liked to have seen one more impact player added, probably a starting pitcher, by trading Moreno. I think the problem is that a lot of the impact players were moved by teams that already have young Catchers in place so we just weren't able to lineup. In the offseason perhaps we deal Jansen or Moreno.
  5. ^This guy thought Greg Bird (currently hitting .218 for Scranton LMAO) was a big league talent so take his talent evaluation with a HEAVY dose of salt.
  6. Roster Resource has White in AAA right now. If they bring him up to the big league team they could option Collins or DFA Zimmer.
  7. Lol he does sound better.
  8. He's a fringe prospect but there is enough there to call him a prospect still.
  9. Lol ok Mr. "Hey Sweetie, It's Ross"
  10. Merrifield's stats are ugly but his peripherals aren't nearly as bad. The Royals are also a s*** org and the Jays a good one so maybe they can fix something to get some more juice out of him. Castillo looked good so far but he has no track record and doesn't project that well. He's very hard to stat scout which is what most of us are doing. My guess is he's a guy classically overrated by fans compared to front offices simply because we don't have as much data.
  11. Yeah the biggest things we needed were relievers and starting pitching depth. We got the relievers in one trade and added the depth in White. White becomes our #6 SP with Kikuchi being a very shaky #5. I thought Castillo slotted in nicely as the #7. But now he's gone and Hatch is the #7? Yikes.
  12. But White is a better asset than Thor (impending FA) and Iglesias (expensive as hell) combined.
  13. 23 year old relievers dominating A-ball aren't uncommon at all. The Yankees just traded three of them for a half season of Benitendi and the board reaction was meh all around. But we trade one with both injury and reliever risk and you want to fire the FO lol. Mitch White isn't a nobody either. He's got a 3.58 ERA in 105 career innings, most of which comes as a starter. He's also in his prime and has 5 years of control left. Frasso is a prospect and MAYBE he out-WARs White over the course of their careers, but White can help now and Frasso can't.
  14. I actually kind of feel bad about this one. Somehow along the way my account has turned into a caricature of a 62 year old misogynistic fan. I think I just got board one day and it stuck after trolling Jim and others for a while. The humor isn't meant to disparage women but rather to poke fun at old cranky guys whose remedy to everything is to "man up." Similar to how Stephen Colbert used to be when he hosted the Colbert Report on Comedy Central back in the day. Not sure if this makes it better but just wanted to clarify.
  15. Wow tough crowd! Have you seen the Rocket Raimel thread? There's some bangers in there.
  16. Frasso isn't even a lock to make the majors and if he does he's got a very high reliever probablity. Geezus you guys.
  17. He's a 40+ FV prospect and you're calling for Atkins to be fired. LMAO
  18. Frasso is 23 years old in A-ball. The Yankees just traded 3 Nick Frasso's and all they got was a half season of Benitendi. Mitch White is a 27 year old pitcher who looks like a decent backend SP and has 5 years of control left after this year. De Jesus is a fringe prospect and Brito is a nobody.
  19. White is a better pickup than Thor IMO
  20. Yeah we might as well keep him IMO. Kirk/Jansen combo is working and is want we want for the playoffs. Moreno ain't ready for that yet. And trading veterans at the deadline for other veterans isn't always the easiest anyway. Astros were one obvious team but they already got their C.
  21. At this point the Yankees are just trading for pitchers to block us from getting them.
  22. Rodon is scary with that player option but it also lessens his cost and he could be a game changer as a frontline starter in the playoffs. Cobb's injury risk is high but he's cheap and he's got another year. I agree, both would be great targets. Seems like the Giants might not be selling though.
  23. We could really really use a starting pitcher. As of now we are relying on Stripling and Kikuchi as our #4-5 to carry us down the stretch and that's probably ok in theory. Stripling looks fine but I worry some about his workload. Kikuchi is a total wild card but he's the #5. The real problem is we have only Max Castillo in case of injury or Kikuchi not performing. I think we are a pretty solid lock for the playoffs but a couple of injuries to the rotation and it could tank our chances. We just need someone who can get through 5 innings with an ERA under 5.
  24. That's a 10 second conversation. "Hey guys, guess what. You're moving to Toronto. You're going to live at the Marriott for the rest of the year. We chartered a flight from Miami to Tampa. Prepare to slay the Yankees in the playoffs and win the World Series. See you tonight."
  25. Drive a car, take a bus bus or boat, f***ing swim if you have to but get your asses to Tampa tomorrow. Geezus. Frankly, they should be there tonight. We need all hands on deck against Tampa they own us at the Trop.
