  1. The Marlins pay out the nose for guys like Espinal and we have several players on the roster that project similarly or better, even at SS.
  2. 7 mil a year is damn near free in this market and on a per game basis Espinal barely projects higher than Diaz. And Espinal isn't garbage but we seemingly do grow these guys on trees. The team seems to prefer Merrifield to him and Barger projects better than Espinal too. Otto Lopez projects similarly too and can also handle SS in a pinch. And then there is board favorite Craig Biggio's son. I wouldn't give Espinal away and he is great depth, something the team should constantly strive to have. But if we are hesitant to make FA signings in this market I think he's a guy we could def look to trade.
  3. Does Ross Atkins even care about signing them to 10 year deals? The odds of him being around 10 years from now are pretty low given the nature of the business and it'd be a couple of feathers in his cap in the short term.
  4. All joking aside it's a perfect time to sell on Espinal IMO. He's a slow slap hitter whose value is in his defense and not striking out. But he also has a weak arm so is best suited for 2B. With Whit, Craig Biggio's son, Barger and others on the team he's also completely expendable. Jays should def look to move him.
  5. We all know that Kim likes her cute slap hitting infielders as she gave up Adam Cimber and Corey Dickerson for Joe Panik (lmao) and then also gave up Bass and Pop for Groshans. The question is, is Espinal cute enough for her?
  6. Seems like Lopez is the guy they'd move bc he only has 2 years of control left and they are cheap. They would no doubt want Kirk or Moreno for the same reasons but I wonder if Jansen and Espinal would get it done for Lopez. I posted a trade earlier where we also chip in Macko and Richards and get Sanchez who has a good batted ball profile which the Jays FO loves. There's got to be something there we could work out.
  7. Bo has to be licking his chops after seeing these SS signings. But if the Jays backed the truck up with a Riley-like extension for 200+ he'd def have to consider it.
  8. Austin Riley seems like a decent comp for both. Steamer projects Bo and Riley to be worth about 4.5 WAR moving forward and Vlad to be worth 5.5 WAR. Riley signed for 10 years, 210 mil and had 3 years of control left. Both Bo and Vlad have 3 years of control left too. Riley is on a similar track to Bo arb wise, both will be making around 4ish million through arb at the time of the extension and both will be 25. Vlad is a little bit different though in that he makes big bucks in arbitration already and is a year younger.
  9. My general sense is that the team is going to approach these two with extensions some time in January when the offseason has slowed down a bit. What do you think it would take to lock them up and would you be comfortable doing so?
  10. I guess the AAVs are coming in close to where we thought it's more the length that has been bigger. So maybe like 7/175 for Nimmo. Sounds nuts to me but so does an 11 year deal for a 30 year old Bogaerts.
  11. Could be an option involving Jansen but given the prices on starting pitching I really think we need to try and work something out with the Marlins.
  12. KK and Conforto seem right, maybe slightly low. Conforto at that price seems like a steal when Bellinger gets 17.5. I think you are way too low on Nimmo given this market. Steamer projects him to out WAR Bogaerts next year. I could see him getting 6 for 180. Maybe even more.
  13. This is a good plan. Gallo instead of Conforto could be an option as well and should be cheaper. If Gallo sucks we can put Merrifield in the OF more to spell KK and Springer and then make a trade at the deadline.
  14. Wakey wakey Ross. I hope you had your morning coffee because it’s time to make some trades. I’d start by giving your gal down in Miami a call and seeing what she wants for Pablo Lopez. Based on your past trades with her she’s probably still interested in slap hitting infielders lol
  15. I might be getting ahead of myself but it seems like extending Vlad or Bo is going to be really tough after an offseason like this. They are going to start making real money via arbitration, especially Vlad, and they only have 3 years to go until they can try for 12 year mega deals. I can't even fathom what extensions would look like at this point.
  16. If Bogaerts is getting 11 years and 280 mil what is Correa getting? Correa is a full two years younger than Bogaerts.
  17. Signing these dudes until they're in their early 40s!
  18. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/as-winter-meetings-come-to-a-close-blue-jays-opt-to-wait-out-other-opportunities/ "The same thing happened in the trade market, where they and the Cardinals both held their ground, prompting St. Louis to sign Contreras instead of trading for Danny Jansen or Oakland’s Sean Murphy. One industry source believes the Cardinals never engaged on outfielders Lars Nootbar and Dylan Carlson and tried to make a deal with closer Ryan Helsley instead." 2 years of Jansen for 3 of Helsley is awfully tempting.
  19. Where did you see this?
  20. Do the Brewers have anything we would want that they would realistically part with?
  21. #11 Prospect and a throw in for 1 year of Jimenez. Given the RP market it seems like a decent deal for both sides.
  22. This isn't a bad train of thought. I think Trollosi mentioned a scenario like this about a month ago. Among the top tier FAs I like Correa a lot.
  23. Yeah there are still some Gibson types on the board.
