  1. Lol Phoenix is a shithole. It's a concrete jungle filled with ghettos, traffic and crazy amounts of senior citizens. Scottsdale is the one "nice" part of that town and it's full of degenerate ASU sluts with chlamydia. Pass.
  2. Lopez has been optioned. Zimmer survives! Our bench right now is: 2B/OF- Biggio (L) OF- Rocket Raimel (L) OF- Zimmer (L) OF- JBJ (L) All hail the left handed hitting outfielders!
  3. Curious move. They both suck ass and Steamer projects them both for a 73 wRC+. Zimmer seems to be the better baserunner and JBJ seems to be the better fielder. I like what Brownie said, given the low impact here you might as well keep the guy you have if he's comfortable with the limited role. But maybe Zimmer wasn't happy with his limited role? These guys often overestimate their own abilities. Seems like the Jays always liked JBJ and tried to sign him at different times. Maybe they think there is something there that they can fix.
  4. Even if Kikuchi was just pitching like he did previously it wouldn't be that big of a deal. A 1 WAR #5 SP isn't the end of the world and they obviously thought there was some upside there. Instead he now throws strikes less often than your average high school pitcher. It's like he has the yips or something.
  5. I'm just curious what your definition is and how good someone would have to be for you to think he was a real closer. Was 2021 Romano a real closer?
  6. What is a "real closer"? Who in MLB fits this definition?
  7. You do this thing where you assign the FO as having X position, and then everything must be black and white within that position. In this case, they haven't invested major money/trade assets toward the bullpen (thank god), but then every single thing must fit within that or it's "odd" to you. It's just not that black and white. No, they haven't doled out 60 million to Rasiel Iglesias but that doesn't necessarily mean that they must also play games with Romano to get his arb number down a couple million bucks.
  8. Merrifield can play 2B though and if Espinal continues to suck there's a good chance that Merrifield will see a lot of time there when Springer is back. Laureano can't do that. Also, if Bo or Chapman gets hurt then Espinal can slide over there and Merrifield can play 2B. His versatility is going to come in really handy. Giving up Castillo was a head scratcher with our SP depth but the Royals probably really wanted major league ready arms and he's really the only one the Jays have. It could have been as simple as the Royals saying ok if not Castillo then we need Zulueta or something like that. I really think the Jays just decided to roll the dice on the SP depth this year because all the sellers wanted pitching prospects. The Jays are light on them and if they keep trading them they will never build up SP depth. By biting the bullet this year, they will have SP depth next year as both Zulueta and Tiedemman will be in AAA.
  9. I don't think it's that odd for a contending team to use their best option for CL as their closer. You're overthinking it.
  10. He's 25/29 for saves on the year. Who would you make the Closer instead?
  11. Franmil Reyes was recently DFA'd. Not a great fit for us but I'd take him over Zimmer as a reclamation project.
  12. Atkins is rolling the dice on the rotation staying healthy. Not only was Mitch White our lone SP acquisition but he also traded away Max Castillo. If we miss the playoffs it will be because of injuries to the rotation and Toronto media and casual fans will be calling for him to get fired.
  13. Are you guys going to go on a date now? Geezus
  14. Get used to riding pine Espinal! You suck dude!
  15. Didi is also the poster boy for becoming a low exit velocity power hitter by pulling a ton of fly balls and plopping them down into the first couple of rows in left field. Yankee Stadium and a live ball was a perfect combo for him. Deaden the ball and he is probably one of the guys that is affected the most.
  16. He at least got it in time so the team could maximize his trade value. And I doubt the KC FO even cared anyway. There's a reason some teams have 0 unvaxxed players, some have a few and others have loads of them. It's because the FO puts varying levels of pressure on their players to get it. In the Royals case, they aren't going anywhere so if anything it helps their tanking and also means that they don't have to pay their veterans for the series. Probably only saves them a couple hundred thousand but that pays for a low level advanced stats guy for a few years.
  17. Probably found the Saul Goodman of Kansas City doctors to squirt the shot into the air and fill out the vaccine card for him. GO JAYS
  18. I don't know if I'd say "very strong" but I do think it's pretty solid now.
  19. Lineup looks DEEP. Manoah on the bump. New relievers are ready to go. The Twins are getting wrecked tonight.
  20. Merrifield is starting in CF tonight. We could see a lot of that with Springer playing hurt. When Springer is in the OF Merrifield probably plays a lot at 2B. After an awful April he's been really hot, hopefully he can keep it up.
  21. Since neither of them ever play they went with the defensive replacement/pinch runner over the emergency catcher. Also Collins has an option and Zimmer doesn't.
