    C- Elite 1B- Elite 2B- Average 3B- Above Average SS- Very good LF- Above average CF- below average with Kiermaier but more moves likely put Springer here a decent amount RF- Very good DH- Very good So to answer the question pretty much everywhere.

    If Conforto is worried about a 28 year old career minor leaguer then we don't want him anyway.

    Yeah that makes sense to me. Tendies would be signing a longer term deal so just maximizing his contract would be wise. If we offer the most money, he'd probably take it- playing time concerns be damned. Conforto needs a showcase year so I do think he's going to consider playing time. Even if he's projected to play 80-90% of the time he could find a team that would play him 100% of the time he's available. Might be able to say the same for Gallo who would have a longer leash for a bad team. As for Brantley, since he's old he is probably fine with resting once in a while too. Who knows how much longer he'll be signing these MLB contracts anyway. Why worry about tomorrow if someone today is offering you a couple more mil? So he probably takes the most money as well.

    I'd say we have 4 legitimate OF options. But even if it's 3, there are some teams out there who only have 2. Some contenders even. If you are Michael Conforto and you need to rebuild value with a big year in the worst way and see this depth chart: LF: Gurriel CF: Kiermaier RF: Springer DH: Jano/Kirk Other options: Whit, Biggio it would give you no pause whatsoever? Particularly when there are other contenders out there who have more clear cut needs in the OF? I agree with everyone that it makes sense from the team's perspective and I think the AB's would be there in the end. But Conforto probably deserves to be in a platoon if he signs here and everyone is healthy. And that's just Conforto. Brantley who is more of a DH would be in a cloudier situation. I don't think it will preclude the Jays from making any moves but it could make things a little tougher on them.

    Could playing time be a factor in signing an OF bat? As it stands, whoever we sign will be competing with Gurriel and KK for playing time in the OF and then will be competing with Jano/Kirk for AB's at DH. Merrifield is also a factor in the OF. I think when it all shakes out in the end there will be plenty of ABs to go around but could this give some FA outfielders some pause before signing here?

    Fangraphs predicted 2 years 20 mil and Atkins got him for less than half of that.

    Yeah he'd probably get 4 years close to that AAV anyway. We're just on the hook for 6.

    Also from the Nicholson-Smith article: "One source with first-hand knowledge of the catching market described the Cubs, Diamondbacks, Tigers, Giants and Padres as interested teams at that position. It stands to reason the Astros would also be in that group after seeing Vazquez leave for the Twins." We've talked about most of the other teams. Do the Tigers have anything we'd want? Kerry Carpenter maybe?

    I liked him as depth after getting him from the Brewers but he's been crap since the trade. Where's the helium coming from? He pitched in the Dominican League this winter right?

    He should sign for a 1 year deal. Fangraphs said 12 mil, the crowdsource said 8. On a 1 year deal I don't think it'd matter too much so long as it doesn't preclude them from getting an OF. Could probably do a team option with a buyout to stretch the dollars a bit if needed.

    The Giants completely s*** the bed by not retaining him. What a steal.

    Yeah I think getting someone to be the #5 would be smart. Even a shitballer like Cueto. I'm not even sure he's that much better than Kikuchi or White but it adds to the depth as much as anything. Our fringe prospects in AAA all shat the bed last year, completely wiping out our SP depth in the process. Zulu and Tiddyman don't have enough experience to comfortably rely on them either. So by signing a cheap #5 like Cueto it pushes Kikuchi to #6 and White to #7.

    Yep, 9-3 with a 3.53 ERA in 89.1 innings against the Jays.

    Yeah they've got Descalfani, Junis who may have had a talent change with his new slider and they are the go to spot for mid tier SP so they could easily sign a guy like Wacha. Their offense needs some work and their defense definitely does so a guy like Jansen could help on both fronts. But yeah, it's not likely to happen even though it makes sense. BUT- We all need to keep in mind I'm the guy who has been pushing KK over Bellinger all offseason and that ended up happening. I know there are rumors going around that Atkins reads the board for my posts and that's why we've never paywalled my posts. I don't know if it's true or not but it is quite the coincidence that we passed on Bellinger and went for KK instead.

    They should trade Cobb for Jansen and then sign Correa, another mid tier SP and then figure out how to get another OFer in the fold. Probably just sign Conforto? If they did that they would be WC contenders.

    It's a foregone conclusion so it didn't need to be mentioned.

    He's kind of like a very risk-averse version of Atkins.

    The Giants' main problem is that their GM is a coward. Most of their moves are good in a vacuum but if you add it all up it's not enough. He's great at squeezing the most out of veterans and older fringe prospect types but he is so scared to pull the trigger on big deals. I can understand his hesitancy when it comes to handing out larger contracts but he's running the team like they are a bottom third market when they should be in the top third. Letting us have Gausman was a huge mistake on their part and probably the best example. Now the market has exploded on them and they are either going to have to pay through the nose for some top tier talent or will have to trot out another collection of misfit vets and fringe AAAA players and hope that they can overperform again.

    I'm not claiming a win here (yet) but you gotta admit I nailed the Kiermaier/Bellinger situation!

    Yeah I agree. We'd have to add quite a bit. Or maybe even take Yaz out and do Cobb for Jansen close to straight up.

    You guys make so many damn excuses for Bellinger it's hilarious. But guess what Jim? Kiermaier has been hurt too yet he's been THRICE the player the past three seasons. No excuses necessary for Kiermaier because his play on the field has proven he's the better player. The guy was playing through a bad hip and despite his game being built on speed he still gutted it out to produce on the field. And Ross Atkins and Andrew Friedman agree with me. The Chicago Cubs, the worst franchise in sports history, agree with you. Enough said.

    Is the Starting Pitcher market starting to cool down a little bit? Bassitt and Stripling both signed for reasonable market rates after Walker and Taillon got more than expected.
