Yeah Terrance Gore is an example of someone who isn't good enough for the regular season. He's played 110 games across the past 9 regular seasons. But he's appeared in the postseason 5 times during that same stretch.
Yeah and it really bit them in the ass in the elimination game. Tapia blew two 50/50 balls in LF and then there was the collision in CF on top of it. If any of those 3 plays are made we win the game.
Apparently Ross was pretty pissed off about that because he acquired not just one but two gold glove caliber CFers. We went from a bottom 5 OF defense to a Top 5.
Romano, Swanson, Garcia, Bass, Mayza, Cimbers, Richards and White are the 8 that Roster Resource has for us right now.
It has Merryweather in AAA but has his options listed at 0. I think that means he needs to be on the 25 man now?
So we've got 39 guys on the 40 man right now.
We have a small squeeze on the bullpen side, with Richards and Merryweather being out of options. I think one of them is going to need to be traded. If we sign another SP, that would push Kikuchi and White (who is also out of options) to the bullpen so we might have to dump both Richards and Merryweather. With Pop (deserves to be up but he has options so I think he's a lock in AAA) and Gage starting off in AAA I think we've got some ok depth to withstand losing those two if we have to.
On the positional side, I think the Jays have some room to make something interesting happen on the backend of the roster. We've got 11 out of 13 position players locked in and have decent enough options for the remaining two spots if we choose to go that route (Lopez, Horowitz, Lukes).
But if Spring Training nears I think we could see a nifty addition of a big league vet who is merely looking for a guaranteed MLB roster spot for a few million. We've got room on the 40-man and sometimes when the game of musical chairs stop these vets only get MiLB offers so maybe Grossman or Brandon Belt or even a guy like Franmil Reyes we could take a chance on. A lot of guys live in Florida so maybe a vet who resides there would be interested as our Spring Training is there and they would get to play for a contender which would have to be exciting.
The teams are pretty similar. It's easier to say 2023 is better but we can look at 2022 with the benefit of hindsight.
s*** is going to happen in 2023 that will bare holes and deficiencies that we might not even know were there. Or, some players could step up and (i.e. Kikuchi puts up 2+ WAR and solidifies the #5 rotation spot) cover what we think is a hole.
So all that said I give the edge to 2023 as it seems to be a more well rounded team but it's pretty close.
Amazingly, of those 17,393 posts only 3 or 4 of them were actually any good. That's a Batting Average of 0.00022305247 for anyone who is counting.
In order to hit the Mendoza Line, you'd need to have about 4,000 good posts in a row.
Good luck Jim.
So right now it's two of Lukes, Lopez and Horowitz. Capra is also an option but he's not on the 40-man anymore so a move would have to be made. Barger will start in AAA because he's an actual prospect.
With two of our outfielders being lefties now, Lukes makes less sense than he did before. He'd probably be a better guy to call up if KK or Varsho hit the IL.
But we basically have everything covered with the 24 guys who are locks. We've got 3 Catchers, 2 Centerfielders, 2 Shortstops, etc. The final two spots can really be used on whatever we want.
Signing a wily vet on the cheap and hoping for a dead cat bounce would make some sense.
In the spirit of Christmas I would like to apologize to the Jansen Fanboys, the Bellinger Stans (lmao) and even the fans of Craig Biggio’s son (wtf).
No matter how cringy you guys are, nothing will top L54 getting a Bauer jersey from Santa for Christmas.
Wow. Believing in Santa at age 13 is bad enough but at least ask for a real ballplayer like Bautista or something buddy. You would have been better off with a lump of coal lmao.
Does he have an agent? If not I bet we could slip some fine print past him in the contract due to his poor eyesight. Like maybe tack a cheap team option on there or something like that.
Ok you guys here's a little holiday advice from The Sheriff for ya. Consider this my Christmas gift to the board.
I probably have more sex in a month at age 64 than you guys will in a lifetime. I'm not trying to talk s*** here I'm just stating some facts. So that probably makes me the resident "sexpert" of the board so to speak.
But anytime a lady asks you to do some weird, freaky or excessively rough stuff to her (whether it's the Cleveland Steamer, the Dirty Sanchez or even something like the Mississippi Handbag) it's either (a) a trap or ( she's probably not the type of gal that you want to be with anyway (i.e. you're going to get the clap).
So let's all do our part where Trevor Bauer didn't and start respecting these ladies out there. They put up with enough s*** as it is.
Thanks for taking the time to listen ya'll and Merry Christmas to you and all your families.
He’s also an idiot for partaking in this s*** with chicks he doesn’t really know and obviously couldn’t trust. Even if it was 100 percent consensual he should know as a rich celebrity athlete that he’s just begging to have a lawsuit filed against him.
I'm pretty neutral on Bauer. I don't think he broke the law, but he bared his ass to the public by having his frowned upon kinks exposed to the public in the Me Too era. He was already a villain beforehand so this just makes him untolerable to a lot of people out there.
At this point, he's a tough sell to an MLB team which is a league that tries to fashion itself to families.
Not upset that we have Swanson and Macko instead but looking back on the offseason, I wonder if keeping Teoscar and not signing KK may have been the way to go if we knew we were getting Varsho.
That lineup would have been insane but hindsight is 20/20
