    All good, I've started using Steamer600 more because the normal projections fluctuate so much depending on the playing time. Regardless, you're probably right to just keep Serven ROS anyway. No sense locking in the 2025 backup C spot this early since they might be able to find someone better than McGuire.

    Lol imagine if they do all the fanfare like they did for Romano and Yimi *Jays up 3-2 entering the top of the 9th *the lights go dark *AC/DC starts blaring through the loud speakers, lights start flashing blue *Zach Pop jogs in from the dugout *promptly gives up a walk, 2 doubles and a bomb and the Jays are now down 3 as Schneider calls for a pitching change

    He's really really bad. Nothing redeeming at all about his stats and the eye test matches as he looks horrendous anytime he plays. He's fine as a 3rd C I guess because he's literally replacement level but anything beyond that is asking too much of him.

    No they don't. McGuire projects for 1.5 Steamer600 and Serven projects for 0.7. https://www.fangraphs.com/projections?pos=c&stats=bat&type=steamer600u At this point it doesn't really matter unless they have on eye on next season. But I suppose they may not want to lock in the backup C spot this far in advance so why bother. But McGuire is actually a pretty good player against RHP. .260/.310/.378 slashline against RHP with his defense would def play as a backup.

    Joking aside I would take him. He's a lot better than Serven and could be the backup next year.

    Yeah Romano is very iffy at this point. I’d have a hard time tendering him a 10 million dollar contract. You could probably do better in FA.

    Well yeah, we may not have a roster crunch right this second but add a couple of guys at the deadline, add a few FAs, add some prospects that need to be protected from the Rule 5, etc. and it will fill up in a hurry. Fans always underestimate the value of 40 man roster spots when it comes to trades but it means everything when you’re talking about fringe relievers like Pearson or fringe prospects like Rivera. The fringe non-40 man guys >> fringe 26 man guys in arb

    Jonn isnÂ’t completely wrong but the problem with Pearson is that he has to be on the 26 man roster. He might have negative value because of that. Rivera I donÂ’t think has to be on the 40 man and the Dominican guy just has to be on the 40 man starting next year and has options. Both kind of suck but are in situations where can take a look at them without running into roster crunch problems. And donÂ’t forget, we are going to be adding plenty of guys to the 40 man this deadline. Dumping Pearson frees a spot.

    His ERA is 4.75 now lol FIP and xFIP are good but still, if anything can go wrong this season it will.

    Sure we can do that. Clase & Sharp = 11 foot 3 inches tall and 330 pounds Alejandro Kirk = 5 foot 4 inches tall and 335 pounds In a race I think I would take Clase running with Sharp on his shoulders over Kirk.

    They seem pretty similar but Gose had that 2011 season at age 20 in AA that had him jumping into the Top 40-60ish on the prospect lists. They actually look really damn similar if you factor in their ages appropriately. Basically the same ages at each level but Clase gets classified a year later because he was born just before the June 30 cutoff. Gose was born just after so he looks to be a year younger at each level.

    He doesn't have a ton of pop but 10 homers and a .209 ISO is impressive for his size.

    Fangraphs had some article a while ago about how relievers who see a sudden performance spike rarely net a large return. Add in Yimi's injury and I think this is a fine return.

    I would want to know more about his defense before I move him out of the nobody category.

    Clase is 5'8'', 150. Sharp is 5'7'', 180. You could combine their weights and Alejandro Kirk would still outweigh them both by about 5 pounds. They are about 2 or 3 inches taller though.

    Yeah Clase doesn't look that horrible. Started off the year in AAA at age 21 and is putting up respectable numbers. He has cut his K rate from where it was in AA the year before which is a good trend. I'm reading that he didn't start switch hitting until later than most so perhaps the hit tool will continue to improve.
