  1. Skenes and Jared Jones both pitched today for the Pirates in their doubleheader so we won't be seeing them this weekend
  2. Rockies players are weird. Their home stats are obviously juiced. But their road stats are depressed more than normal due to the "Rockie Road" effect. I don't think it's totally understood but the pitches they see in Coors don't move as much so when they hit the road it looks like everyone's got better stuff than they actually do.
  3. Yeah surely a guy who can play a good SS for league minimum can stick around as the 26th man.
  4. I always knew that Gibson guy was a great player. Just wasn't sure how good. But obviously one of the all time greats. Would have smashed MLB pitching. Too bad he never got the chance. Great player. I love Josh Gibson and all Negro League players. Have you ever seen Ken Burns' Baseball? Great documentary and it gives a lot of deserved attention to the Negro League players. Great players and even better people. Nothing but respect for them. Josh Gibson.
  5. What sabremetrician has the balls to publish an article where he assigns MLB equivalencies to Negro League players' career stats by adjusting their numbers down? lol "While Gibson slashed .374/.458/.720 in his career, his MLB equivalencies suggest that he was a true talent .249/.345/.468 hitter. Certainly above average, but not nearly as good as his reputation would suggest."
  6. Fantasy analysis is completely different than real life.
  7. I am definitely a lot of noise so no argument there. And there is some truth to the team being filled with mental midgets but this is the positivity thread. If it were in the Ship is Sinking thread I would give this a like.
  8. Yeah if a pitcher can spin a breaking ball through the very outer edge of the zone, to the point where the ball is only in the zone for split second it takes to trigger a strike by the roboump, the pitch will be very difficult to hit. You'd also think it would help the stuff guys in situations where they miss their spot but the ball is still in the strike zone. If the Catcher has to flail to catch the pitch, the umps now generally call it a ball, even if the pitch was in the zone.
  9. I don't know what's going on with our hitting and RISP. It's probably just noise. Matt Chapman was brutal with RISP last year but was great otherwise. Belt had a 176 wRC+ with the bases empty but 93 with RISP. Those guys are gone but we suck again with RISP. This year Bo seemingly can't hit anything, yet with RISP he's hitting 147 wRC+. 2023: Overall- wRC+ 107 (7th in MLB) RISP- wRC+ 102 (14th) 2024: Overall- 100 (16th) RISP- 90 (24th)
  10. Doesn't seem possible but the Jays now have a 100 wRC+ as a team on the season.
  11. I think there's a good chance it's not the real city connect. The source for some of this stuff is apparently that it's being sold in Mexico? I see all sorts of whacky unlicensed crap being sold in Mexico all the time. But Laika's counterpoint is effective, all the other city connects suck and the leaks are very on brand in that sense.
  12. Yeah that makes sense. That said, the source for some of this is stuff being sold in Mexico and I've seen all sorts of whacky unlicensed s*** being sold there. Even so, the purple is probably wishful thinking because other teasers seem to invoke exactly what has been leaked:
  13. I guess injuries? He was a Top 5 prospect and 65 FV at one point. Put up a 3.7 WAR season as a 22 year old.
  14. Holy s*** they are acting like they won the WS lol
  15. He was laboring but doing that thing where you can't tell if he's mad at the PitchCom, himself, the offense, etc. It was a little more general annoyance then normal and the broadcast team speculated something was off with him. I think they ultimately thought that maybe it was illness or something like that.
  16. It's pretty amazing actually. Since his debut in 2013, he has been complete s*** in odd years while being pretty good in even years.
  17. Yeah no one on this board is surprised but on twitter and elsewhere people are showing dismay. I am starting to wonder if the red, blue and black hat/shirt that we've seen is the actual city connect jersey though.
  18. A lot of people were thinking that the City Connects would have purple because the players have been wearing a lot of purple accessories this year. Then the team releases this teaser and we also see purple. Maybe the "leak" of the hat and jersey that we've seen isn't actually it.
  19. I assume the pants will be black with the red and blue piping running down the leg
  20. Yeah better than most City Connects but that's not saying much.
  21. Yeah trading for a franchise player like that is definitely more realistic then signing them outright.
  22. Quick re-tool: -Trade Bo to the Dodgers -Trade Koochi, Yimi, Romano, etc. -Sign Kim in the offseason to replace Bo -Extend Vlad (An extension might lower his AAV) Between the MLB ready guys we have in Buffalo and whoever we acquire at the deadline, that could be a lot of talent to fill whatever holes we have. Sprinkle in a few more bucks to paper over whatever holes we have and WC3 will be easy to make.
  23. Yeah I agree with this as well. I don't think we will ever get the top FA on mega deals nor will we ever even try for them. But we can compete for good FAs who are shooting for ~80-150M. Guys like Bregman or Kim could be options next year, Soto is not.
