  1. You sound scared. Being 2 games out of a playoff spot has you shook.
  2. The gauntlet kind of extends into the 2nd half of the season too. Home series against DET, TB, and TEX isn't bad, but we then have a TEN GAME stretch against the Orioles and Yankees, with 7 of those on the road. But once August 8th ends, it's a TON of games against mid teams or worse. We get 7 games against the Angels (4 at home) and home series against the Marlins and A's. The only west coast road series the entire second half is the Angels. Everywhere else is in Central or Eastern time. If we can end August 8th a couple of games over .500 I think we will be right in the thick of things. But that's no small task with that schedule (and our roster of misfit underperformers).
  3. The schedule from now to the ASB is pretty tough, but if we play okay it's pretty manageable. @ MIL vs CLE vs BOS @ CLE @ BOS vs NYY vs HOU @ SEA @ SF @ ARI All of these teams are pretty good, but only one of them has been great so far and we get them at home. Would be nice to to start off with a series win. Brewers are tough but we avoid their ace during the series.
  4. He's fine as a 26th man though he was starting to make more than that. Or a platoon player on a bad team. Japan could be good for him. I think best case scenario is to go to a contender with a s*** bench. Maybe the Braves or something.
  5. How can anyone still stan for this guy lol Since 2021, nearly 4 years of sample size, he's been slashing .219/.327/.351 with below average defense. He can take a walk, sure, but it comes at the expense of his BA because he just stands there with the bat on his shoulders hoping to get 4 balls and a walk. He's hopelessly overmatched at the plate and he isn't young anymore. He's entering his physical decline years. He's starting to make money too. 4.21 mil this year and he'd be close to 6 next year. It was time to pull the plug years ago. We let loose guys like Otto Lopez to keep him around and it wasn't working.
  6. Despite what Vlad says, he could end up in NYY some day. A pile of cash will change anyone's mind. So I agree there but I otherwise wouldn't bet on it. The Yankees need a 1B now and will need one this upcoming offseason too. They may lock that position down by the time Vlad is a FA in 2026. Plus, the Jays could also try and extend Vlad this offseason. And if he does hit FA, there will be a bunch of teams in on him. The Yankees might not be able to pay everyone they have, plus Soto, plus Vlad. So if the bet is the Yankees or the Field the Field is far more likely.
  7. Not sure about that. They finished 4th last year and have won the division twice in the past 11 years. One World Series appearance in the last 20+ years. Everyone here thinks Atkins is horrible to at mid, at best. But since 2020, basically the year we started trying to compete after the post-Bautista rebuild, they had 2 more wins than us until this year.
  8. Clement is cheap and hasn't really had much of a chance. There's a possibility he comes back next year as a cheap bench option if he shows something this year. Plus, once we add another lefty in Horwitz he might have a role to get some spot starts when one of our many fringe lefties is sitting. Biggio would make less sense in that regard as he's also a fringe lefty. He's also starting to get expensive, I just don't see how he comes back next year with what he's due to get in arb. Vogelbach could get the boot as well as whatever playing time he gets would likely be soaked up by Horwitz. He has been playing and batting cleanup though. Biggio hasn't really been playing at all. Tough to say, I think Biggio is getting dumped but wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the other two either.
  9. Could it be....could this actually be the end for Craig Biggio's son...???
  10. Yeah Brian Serven has an OPS over .800 in AAA and he might be one of the worst hitters I've ever seen.
  11. Oh hell yeah Reading posts like this gives me a dopamine hit similar to when I dabbled with nose beers in the 80s
  12. Yeah the A's are a little bit better than everyone thought they would be and a 3 game series with them after a game and long flight today won't be walk in the park Would love a sweep to get to a game over .500 but winning the series might be a more realistic goal
  13. Yeah the split is nice but getting blasted 24-12 over the four games doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence moving forward lol
  14. Salvaging the split was huge. 2 games under .500 with a 3 game set against the A's coming up.
  15. I think I read somewhere that he has had good movement on his slider he just can't control it
  16. It was the strikeout pitch to Cowser. Nasty pitch. https://www.mlb.com/video/colton-cowser-strikes-out-swinging-09k9yn?partnerId=web_video-playback-page_video-share
  17. I can't remember who he threw it to but he had a 97 mph sinker that had insane amounts of tail on it and he got a whiff despite it ending up well out of the zone
  18. Zach Pop is kind of good but he also kind of sucks. He's got one really good pitch. It's so good that he can throw it over and over and be a big league reliever. But the fact that he can't throw a second pitch even somewhat effectively makes him suck. Pretty frustrating player.
