  1. I don't want to her to change her mind. I want Philadelphia to burn to the ground for this.
  2. Reading these comments I see a lot of people here are born yesterday. Disrespecting a widow? Oh boo-hoo. Unless Roy was putting on one of the biggest for-show stands for the Toronto media and fanbase and deep down didn't give a s***, she is completely disrespecting his wishes and legacy. Someone who is grieving the loss of their soulmate respects that deceased person's wishes. A money-grubbing opportunist or a dummy who doesn't give a s*** living off a sweet inheritance, doesn't.
  3. f*** America. This is the decision of some dumbass white woman MAGA supporter (probably) that doesn't know a damn thing about baseball other than it was the method in which she will now have a sweet life sipping martinis guiltlessly banging poolboys as a widow for the next 40 years. I hope Trump pushes the United States into civil war and the epicenter is in Philadelphia. Doing this for what? To respect the Phillies? That piece of s*** franchise that leads the universe in sports losses, took 90 years to win any sort of championship and will probably take another 90 years to win anything again?
  4. Barry Bonds was a legit Hall of Famer back in 1993 when he was 180 pounds. Clemens would be in if he never pitched again after the Red Sox dumped him. When they took what they took, yeah it was kind of against the rules but nobody was checking and there was no explicit line in the sand like there was with Pete Rose and gambling and there still really isn't given the guys who got in. Bonds and Clemens were already legit superstar players and if you look at the money A-Rod got, f***, who wouldn't want six extra years of 8-digit contracts if they can extend their careers to age 42 instead of 36. If you want to punish Clemens and Bonds for what they did, I want to go back in time and give you a traffic ticket every time you went over the speed limit or did a rolling stop through a stop sign. Every. f***ing. Time.
  5. I enjoy looking at the full list to see who got a pity vote. Polanco got two. Poor Vernon couldn't get any, not even from Richard Griffin.
  6. He maxed out his 10 choices so I don't really see anything wrong with it. Ten defendable choices. It was McGriff's last kick at the can, Rolen has a lot longer to go. There are more factors to consider when voting than sorting the players by WAR and picking the top 10.
  7. David Wells should be up there as well. Playoff hero. Not quite hall worthy but I was surprised he was jettisoned from the ballot as quickly as he was.
  8. Basketball and it's not even close...also fascinating debate over the last few posts mostly because both sides are making good points.
  9. Over 75. .500 team here we come. The young guys will impress on the offensive side.
  10. I don't get this. Are you being sarcastic and you think Sanchez will will miss more than a week? Or are you being serious and think that Sanchez and his 5+ ERA through 30 starts and 80 innings pitched is the worst case scenario for this team?
  11. Stroman has the innate ability to look like a complete douche even when he is doing something meant to be nice or supportive: https://vancouversun.com/sports/baseball/b-c-tattoo-artist-inks-toronto-skyline-on-blue-jays-pitcher-stroman
  12. The Yankees will be good, that ship has already sailed. But can they at least have a s*****, underperforming BP this year? That's all I ask.
  13. It's a catch-22 situation. For the team to be able to move assets, those players would have had to perform well. And if those players perform well, that increases the chances that the team outperforms expectations for the first half of the year. No one is trading for Smoak or Morales at anything less than a 120 RC+ year. Sanchez won't have any value if he's injured or s***** and it's less likely the Jays trade Stroman if he's garbage. That leaves bullpen guys as the only trade fodder in a down year.
  14. Whenever I read the Martin trade thread and giving Danny Jansen a chance and how it doesn't matter if the Jays are dumping a vet with versatility in a waste year, I think that this team is not nearly as bad as everyone is saying. Then I read stuff like this and I'm reminded of why this team isn't expected to compete this year. That rotation is absurd. Does anyone outside of Stroman even crack the top 5 on any team with a shot to be in the playoffs? I'm hoping the FO isn't done with fixing this. I think I'll be only watching the Jays hit this year. I don't want to get an ulcer watching them pitch.
  15. Good thing for his sake he didn't say that in 2018. Twitter would have found out a way to spin that as old white guy racism and get him canned within three days.
  16. Dick Pole was #4 to sign and I still see 4 signees so I'm calling out your ******** unless you were #2 or 3 before me yesterday. I don's see my comment though. I guess my name didn't get by the moderation team
  17. We should only be so lucky that the team has so much depth behind the plate that he doesn't even cross my mind anymore even after this trade. This has been about as good as catcher depth the Jays have had since November 2012.
  18. Nice bit of intel.
  19. This is obviously the right move for the team, but I can't help but feel lukewarm on this.
  20. That's rich coming from the board's MRA who liked to dig around the bowels of social media to find the feminazis who outed some poor schmuck with an opinion on Twitter and got him fired. You should know as well as anyone that these things can spill into real life nowadays. I can imagine that this chick got at least one rape request.
  21. Meh. I don't see the outrage here. If someone is getting wailed on in a boxing match the ref is going to eventually intervene. Bauer saying "enough is enough, let's all move on with our lives" is hardly succumbing to SJWs.
  22. What I have learned is that I am *just* good enough at this trolling thing to mask the fact that I don't really know anything about baseball.
  23. The Raptors have played without two of their best three players in any given game for the last month and there are complaints about the decision making of a couple of 2nd/3rd year players who have been exposed during that time. Meanwhile the team has put up a winning record against a tough road-heavy schedule. This is pretty much what the Raptors would be like if/when Leonard and Lowry are gone, a 45ish win team. Plus whatever experience those guys pick up in 1-2 years plus cap space to go after Antetokounmpo or whoever else Ujiri targets. I'm quite pleased with the overall position the team is in. Let's hope everyone is healthy in three months.
  24. Raptors have the easiest remaining schedule in the league. Unfortunately the Bucks have the second easiest, not too far behind. I guess that's a function of having an East schedule where you face one of the top two teams only once more because you're the other top two team.
  25. I'll go on record to say I think this team gets to 81 or more wins. This team is not very good as of January 1, but there are plenty of other teams worse off than it and it has a ton of depth with nearly MLB ready prospects. If the Jays were in the AL Central with the privilege of facing the Royals, White Sox, Twins and Tigers for half of their schedule, it'd be a playoff team.
