  1. That's okay man, don't get upset. These closet racists would rather have prime Tulo hitting leadoff than Ben Revere. Just trying to keep these poor black men like Revere, Juan Pierre and Vince Coleman from maxing out their MLB earnings potential.
  2. Damn you Jim!
  3. The two issues are: 1. Teams manipulating service time to get more than the six years they are allotted. 2. Teams that suck delaying service time because they have no incentive to roster their best players now. Issue 1 seems like an easy fix to me, if a little controversial. Service time clock starts on day 1 and control ends after 6 years, regardless of timing. That means players can start arbitration and attain free agency mid-season. That would make teams s*** their pants regarding in-year budgeting and marketing and at least eliminate the May/June call-up when the player is deserving of a roster spot out of Spring Training. It would also hurt mid-season/September call-ups but I have an idea for that. Give MiLB players the right to waive starting their service time clock through to the end of the year if they are deserving a mid-season call-up. My theory on this is that it's better to earn MLB minimum than be paid MiLB salary if the team was going to delay service time under the current system anyways and that is the only roadblock to the call-up. Eliminate incentives for teams to suck like a lotto draft and I think it was Boras' idea to compensate teams for finishing higher in the standings? I like that idea. Right now there is no incentive (other than pride) for a team to finish 20th over 29th in the standings but lots of incentive for a team to finish 29th over 20th. Eliminate that gap and you'll see a reduction in issue #2 I think.
  4. Am I the only one who heard this rumour plus the Shapiro rumour and is getting very, very nervous over the potential direction things could take here? Edward Rogers needs to go play in traffic, put a bag over his head or whatever cliche is needed to get a very stupid adult who was rich from birth out of the picture. The Jays have a perfectly good coaching staff and FO right now. I don't want that f***ed with.
  5. Ehhh... Wade Davis Zach Britton
  6. I smell conspiracy. No way could he have changed it that fast. Shapiro, Donaldson and the Indians have been working on this for weeks. TheHurl too so he hits on his $20 bet.
  7. Is there something wrong with the water in Toronto? Why is everybody on this team a douche? Ah well, another guy who I'm a lot less pissed off about leaving than I should be because of his behaviour. Next up Stroman the instant his value is back up. In the world of social media, how is it the FO's fault that something went public? Donaldson is obviously trying to prove something here, what do you want them to do? Tape his mouth shut and hack his Twitter account to lock him out?
  8. Yes, actually, I did not say that clearly, but what I mean is within the scientific community things can and should always be debated. Outside of it, it would be wise for the layman to accept the consensus until further notice. And if the layman can't accept that, then they should go ahead with the schooling and learn enough about the subject at hand so that they can contribute a worthwhile opinion.
  9. Well it's always good to be skeptical of any individual scientist (or study), who might have their own personal agenda on the line when they speak. It's the science where there is group consensus that should not be debated. The funniest thing about the anti-science conspiracy nuts (in this example GMO) is that they don't realize that there are likely scores of scientists whose wet dream is to prove that GMO shorten the lifespan of everyone who eats them by 10 years and have every expert in the community begrudgingly admit that they are correct after scrutinizing their paper.
  10. Anti-Semitism + JD hiring Kawhi Leonard's agent. But f*** it, unless there is a serious injury at play, the FO should just swallow their pride and QO the guy even if he shows up every day with a picture of Atkins to wipe his ass with. But it sounds to me like there is going to be a team very happy to get JD on a discount contract next year. QO comp + injury concerns + potential clubhouse issues/desperation to leave does not pay out top dollar.
  11. Anti-GMO morons are basically tools who can't distinguish between GMO and food processing.
  12. Pretty much the only rule I follow on this board is do not get into a debate with metafour. You guys should have learned by now, this is not the first time this dude has gone off like this.
  13. tercet will not be pleased with you.
  14. Since the debut of Ryan Goins, this team gave something like 3,000-4,000 plate appearances to replacement level players at SS/2B/3B. I'm surprised that people are viewing this depth issue as a "clusterf***" given the recent hardships this team has had filling those spots. The depth issue at MIF is a good thing, and I trust that the FO will be able to maximize value for redundant pieces through trades. The only thing that concerns me is the direction they seem to be headed with on Donaldson since as an outsider, QO seems like the very obvious right choice to me. Not a trade. But I have to trust that they are working with a lot more information than I am on that front.
  15. Morales > Edwin, and at a cheaper cost too. The one black mark on this FO's resume has been erased. Except, you know, all those unilateral sell-now fantasy trade scenarios that the armchair QBs come up with on here. Like how the team should have traded Donaldson on June 15th, 2017 at 12:25pm to a contender for three top 10 prospects.
  16. 4-2 vs White Sox is pretty good too!
  17. https://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/head2head.cgi?teams=TOR&from=2018&to=2018 Those are some ugly, lopsided numbers. Can't say that the team isn't doing what it's supposed to do - beat up all the crap teams.
  18. I can't wait to collect my $100. So when he throws a no-hitter, but strikes out a lousy 8 and throws 88 pitches, do I win or does Deadpool?
  19. 9IP 0ER 0H 0BB 27K 0HR 81P Let's just say I'm optimistic. Also, f*** BTS that bottom-bitch-crosses-his-legs-like-a-woman-cuck for being the first person to feed this guy's pity money attention whoring two minutes after the thread was started.
  20. It feels good as a Jays fan that our team is single-handedly determining WC2.
  21. It seems like Blue Jays and Rogers agents infiltrated the Astros ball club and media outlets to destroy Giles' value right before this trade. I knew getting a Jew for President was going to pay off for this team. Incredible job by Shapiro and Atkins to win an unwinnable trade.
  22. I hope he blows his first save opportunity with the Jays on a four K inning with a passed ball....
  23. This trade could not possibly have gone down better for the Jays. Chalk up another win for Shapiro and Atkins. I'd have to look up Mike Tyson's career boxing record but I can imagine their record for trades and signings is something similar to that. Overlooking Osuna's recent issues, I would guess Giles has more pitches left in his arm than Osuna does, plus two prospects. And that ridiculous career FIP and K/9.
  24. Do people just learn a term like "service clock" and apply it blindly everywhere to sound smart? I don't give a s*** about when Jansen's service clock starts, and I don't think anyone else should either. If he can contribute and/or learn something backing up Martin this year, and Maile can be traded for useful assets, you make the move. You don't hesitate for a second about putting him on the MLB roster strictly because of service clock concerns. If he becomes the next Posey and the Jays have to pay big bucks a year earlier in arb and lose him to FA, let's just be thankful for the unexpected uptick in talent for the years the team did have him.
  25. You were practically pissing yourself at the prospect of trading Pillar...just cuz....as well. Pretty sure other guys are on that list too.
