  1. You're right. I'd rather have Ryan Goins, Gift Ngoepe, Yangervis Solarte, Darwin Barney, Chris Coghlan, Rob Refsnyder, Cliff Pennington, and Munenori Kawasaki waiting for the inevitable injury to happen instead of a capable MLB player who can also cover the backup catching role. f***. 4,000 plate appearances given away to replacement level ball players at 2B/SS/3B since the day Goins made his debut and the instant it starts to look like the team has some solid depth on the infield, people want to trade it away. Martin is not going to take away any playing time of note from the young guys, unless the team hires Cito Gaston to manage again. He's not even going to take up a roster spot over anyone other than Reese McGuire because you need the second catcher anyways.
  2. Every time the topic of trading away the catcher depth comes up, I'm reminded of those six glorious weeks where AA managed to trade every catcher off of the 40 man roster except Arencibia. The C situation is fine as is. Don't dump Martin for the purpose of dumping him. Now of course if a trade comes up that makes sense, then you look at it.
  3. LOL at the debate if the Lakers are going to make the playoffs. Let's put this into perspective, the Lakers are 8 to 1 to win the Western Conference, behind the Warriors at -1,000,000,000 and the Rockets at 5 to 1. Next up is OKC at 25 to 1. So yeah, the expectation is that the Lakers will make the playoffs. The Western Conference isn't THAT good, in that it's so deep that teams like DeRozan's Spurs, T-Wolves and Blazers are going to keep the Lakers out of a top 8 seed.
  4. No, I just hate people for no good reason.
  5. The one time I was there I felt Detroit was more abandoned and empty than shithole but things seem to be building up. But we can all agree that Baltimore is terrible, even for those who haven't been there like me.
  6. Why must you s*** all over my stereotype with your knowledge?
  7. 1. Aren't you the guy who hates Boston cuz Boston? 2. Judging by your location, you're not exactly in a position to call anything a shithole. You're either on opioids while you're posting or drawing your shotgun to keep all the meth heads out of your apartment and from stealing your TV.
  8. Nope, never cheering for Cleveland. Cleveland sucks, it is a shithole and people who live there don't deserve good things in their lives. Cleveland has been having too much winning recently. But with Lebron gone and the Indians on a downward trajectory buoyed only by their very s***** division, the city should go back to its normal state of irrelevancy pretty soon.
  9. Like what Boxcar said, neutral most of the time. But sometimes depends on the player. For instance, if/when Marcus Stroman gets traded I will cheer for that team to lose every time. Not be a lame tard who boos at the park like what happened to Osuna, but get a sense of satisfaction on the inside seeing Stroman melt down on social media like a little black Trump every time something doesn't go his way.
  10. ITT: BTS jealous of a man who knows how to pad his resume while he's stuck at a dead end job putting out one fire after the next.
  11. This team is going to suck next year as is, but the off-season is a long one. There's a lot of work to be done but that can be said for most teams. The Jays can afford to focus the vast majority of their efforts on the starting pitching because I'm already quite pleased with the depth of talent on the position player side. Ideally the team signs/trades for three SP, carries over two from this year's dumpster fire rotation and tries the other three in the pen or AAA depth. I'm optimistic it can be done given how quickly Shapiro and Atkins managed to rectify the holes in the rotation inherited from AA. Travis should start off in the minors and tried in the OF. There is no reason to release the guy unless Rogers is dead-set on being as cheap as possible.
  12. So is someone going to start an offseason thread now or do we wait until the World Series is over? I don't recall the etiquette on this. I personally can't wait to see everyone's rotation and line-up projections after about half a dozen fantasy FA signings and trades.
  13. I had stupidly posted that in the wrong thread by accident, but it turns out it's still applicable here anyways as Spanky pointed out the awesomeness of Gibby.
  14. FWIW Giles seems to really like it here, let's hope it continues and contributes to rebuilding his value. https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/opinion/2018/09/21/trade-to-blue-jays-career-saver-for-tightly-wound-giles.html
  15. The Sportsnet propaganda machine is blasting full force trying to save the parent company some arb $$$ or convince Randy to sign a cheap long term deal.
  16. One small benefit of getting their guy Wedge in charge is that puts my mind at ease over that stupid rumour that Shapiro is headed to the Mets.
  17. If there is anything that I know from the Kawhi Leonard trade, is that OddsShark is always right. Meh. Sure it's not an optimal choice, but its the GM who should be feeding the manager with decent players. If you don't want your manager to make bad choices, don't put bad choices on the 40 man roster.
  18. If Travis is in the minors next year, might as well make it productive and see if he can still play the outfield. He's not going to take time away from Biggio.
  19. Guys I'm looking for a trustworthy online casino site. Got any suggestions?

Ottawa over 72.5 points is +130. I'll probably lay a few bucks down on that before the season starts. With the way this is going I can feel a fluky season.
  21. Injuries plus Cleveland has had the best and deepest pitching staff over the past couple of years prior to this one. Aaron Sanchez wouldn't have cracked the Indians' MLB roster, certainly not as a starter.
  22. I have my doubts over the truthfulness of this. Unprompted, a Jays official comes out to say basically "yeah, we're stupid" at the worst possible time in the Donaldson saga when the logical thing would be to not even bring it up. Sounds more like trying to sow the seeds of discontent here.
  23. That would be in line with your M.O. being the racistist poster we have here, advocating for Olerud and hating Joe Carter, the greatest slugger and WS hero we ever had, and Cito, the only Jays manager with two WS titles under his belt. I bet you're one of these haters that thought Devo and his perfectly serviceable 108 OPS+ should have been jettisoned to #6 instead of Alomar when the team got Henderson in 1993. Just trying to devalue the black man's worth heading into his free agent years.
  24. The Jays are about $40M/year worth of FA spending strictly on starting pitching away from making Sanchez to the pen a reality in 2019. He's the third best pitcher on this team and I'm afraid to even admit who the two guys ahead of him are. Let's wait until next March before clamouring for this move which you're advocating for.
