I have mixed feeling about this. As a dirty capitalist pig, I see the merits of trying squeeze every last penny in ad revenue. As a baseball fan, that looks stupid. Soccer may have been doing this for decades but it's also tastefully done to the point where a Man U AIG jersey, for instance, looks desirable to wear for someone into that team. That Ford logo on the other hand....
Also I don't see the benefit of putting Ford on the helmet. That shot aside, I mean, how many times is that logo going to be visible during the course of the game? It's on the side of the helmet facing the backstop...unless there's a logo on both sides....which....is......FINE....I....guess *suppresses rage*.
I'm also surprised that Manfred would be the one to experiment on this. If anything it would be the NFL with its rock solid fan base that could get away with this potential landmine as the guinea pig. MLB is desperately trying to attract dirty hippie SJW Millennials to the game while keeping its legacy 60 year old KKK fan base. The only thing I see those two demographics having in common would be their mutual hatred of ads on baseball equipment.
