  1. Agree. Not sure if this LOL in the title of this thread was meant for him or just the general state of the Jays. Either way it's kind of stupid. Redmond pitched better than my expectations for him and I think most people feel the same. LOLing at a weak rookie getting the ROY for the team is also stupid. Lots of good teams don't necessarily have a good rookie representative and winning ROY doesn't really mean much of anything. Look at Alfredo Griffin, he won the ROY for the Jays in 1979, the worst team in the league that year and he turned out one of the worst careers you can have with any sort of longevity. You LOL at Todd Redmond? Well his WAR at zero is already pretty close to Alfredo Griffin's career. Could hit, couldn't play defense...and one of the worst base stealers ever.
  2. I think it's about time you change your avatar given that he's gone....really getting sick of seeing that guy's squinting, mouth-open dumbassed look every time you post.
  3. When people talk about his 20 HR, they are forgetting he hit like half of those in the first 3-4 weeks. JPA's full 2013 season was historically bad. JPA's last 300 plate appearances were much, much worse. It's debatable whether he can hit 20 home runs - can he even make contact 20 times a year anymore? That's only half sarcastic. It wouldn't surprise me if he has vision issues that are getting worse with time and he's too stupid/arrogant to get it checked out. The way he flails at a pitch when trying to catch it leads me to believe he has problems with depth perception. Now that's affecting his hitting as well. If this is what it ends up being the problem and some other team fixes it, I 100% agree with Hurl's cleaning house comment above
  4. Are you JP Ricciardi's lover or something? The Jays haven't had anything close to a Carlos Delgado or Roy Halladay type of home grown prospect for a decade and JPR's s***** drafting and player development is front and center in that. He did a half decent job on the free agent market, not much else.
  5. Navarro is 23 months older than JP. Subtract a couple days from that too.
  6. They have to compete with the teenie boppers who want to be first on this board to report on every minor MLB deal possible I suppose.
  7. 55? For a full time player with 500 PA? Meh I suppose that's pretty good...for a catcher from 1988. I mean, not Pat Borders good, but still pretty good. Ok just checked...I take that back...Pat Borders good.
  8. lol so much ball-licking for Beane on here. Added a highly paid closer and now JJ's a candidate for the saves record and this will end well for Oakland. One of their top paid players is now a closer. Given their relative lack of payroll flexibility this is a mediocre trade for them. There's no guarantee that they can or will trade him at any point in time during the season. If Amaro did this he'd be laughed out of this forum. Weeks is a non-issue. Now the question is if AA actually approached them with a cheaper option or not. Let's hope he did and just couldn't work things out.
  9. Last night I was out with some people and the topic turned to the Jays. The conversation was just so idiotic I couldn't even participate. That group involves chicks too, and they are even worse than the guys. Gives me new appreciation for this place, and some insight into how AA's mind works, if his goal is to put asses in seats (at least in the short term) instead of building a winning club. Please don't subject this place to allowing those types of fans too much freedom.
  10. I have mixed reactions over the CFL becoming an official feeder league as opposed to its current status as an unofficial one. The league overall would become stronger but any hope of the league being "uniquely Canadian" or different as opposed to inferior through reasons saskjay pointed out would be gone. Personally I'd love to see the NFL players play the CFL game if only for a short time period. Particularly the play of the top QBs and to see which coaches can quickly adjust to the new style.
  11. Anything with compensation or some other type of personal benefit to the perpetrator always results in making less of a statement. This writer could easily go to Deadspin or somewhere else and offer his vote for free to the fans if this is how he truly felt. Nah, he just took the money then made this excuse after the fact. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm morally higher than this guy. I'd take the money too if the opportunity was there and the price was right. But don't go around making lame excuses like trying to expose how flawed this voting system is if you're going to do it for money.
  12. I make money betting on NFL games. I make money betting on CFL games. I have no problems with either. The CFL has attracted a lot of good talent over the years. Is it going to attract top talent? Of course not, the payroll structure will disallow that. But to suggest the CFL is some sort of bush league is ludicrous. It's a league with a greater tradition than the NFL. The Argos are the oldest pro football team on this continent. Anyone who thinks they are a pushover should get a bunch of his beer league buddies together and challenge the worst team in the league and see what happens. Anyone who can suit up for the NFL, the CFL, Arena league, the old NFL Europe or even that XFL back in the day is definitely in the top percentile or better of the population who have ever played football. They will have above average athletic ability suited for their positions. Regardless of who is right or wrong on the intricacies of each game, JugglingPitches reeks of being a self-righteous wannabe-American-big-city Torontonian. Praise the NFL and spit all over the CFL for no good reason other than it's a big cool American game while the Canadian game is meant to please all the hosers while they fight in the military, dig up the oil and potash and farm the food to feed all of us. The CFL is saskjay's only game in town...so what. No need to look down on him and be an ******* about it.
  13. Love it...some greedy ******* wants to sell his vote then hides behind an excuse that the voting process is unethical or outdated. If you truly believe that, just rescind your right to vote. Or if you're being an opportunist, at least stand up and say, "hey yeah I put my vote up for sale, because I can get away with it".
  14. Yankees don't have teenagers posting on their message boards who aren't familiar with playoff games for their team.
  15. I would think he's more likely to be seeing cent signs...like Cletus from the Simpsons.
  16. Hehe this thread is funny. Kids, do you really wanna be a baseball writer so you can vote for the MVP? Here's all you gotta do in three simple steps: 1. Go to university and get your journalism degree. 2. Learn something about baseball. 3. Suck some editor's dick. And voila you are a baseball writer. You too, now have the privilege of voting for the BBWAA awards where your selections and reasoning can be criticized by 10,000 douchebags online who think they know better than you! As an added bonus you will get to determine the fate of Jack Morris' Hall of Fame candidacy where your choice, one way or the other, will end up with your getting death threats or your house getting egged!
  17. I don't really see the point of trading Happ just to free up salary. I'd rather have him under his contract than say, Santana, at whatever insane contract he is going to get.
  18. you can tell he grew up watching far too much American trash TV...Maury, Jerry Springer etc...just by the way he talks...overusing words like haters and such. They're called critics fool...use the proper word once in a while.
  19. In 2013 JPA gave Matt Harvey tickets to the Jays home opener. With any luck, by 2016 he'll be joining him in the stands.
  20. I would say anyone who has a somewhat sensible Twitter account is at least functioning in society enough to not be institutionalized. I would guess that those "extreme autistics" like Rain Man wouldn't even have Twitter accounts because they wouldn't care about normal human interactions in any form.
  21. The best thing about him being traded to Philly...there's almost no possibility that he will have some kind of Bonafacio-like turnaround, no matter how brief...and in the off-chance that he does...meh...let him take it out on Atlanta for all I care. There is no downside to this.
  22. You'd be talking about casual internet fans...anyone who has seen more than 5 games this year will know he's had a shitload of errors. The HR and RBI may be a bright spot, and people may think he's doing alright at offense, but there's no way with all those horrible passed balls that people can say he's an appropriate catcher. Up until him, the Jays have had a track record of catchers who can play decent defense. Casual fans should know he stinks behind the plate. At a bare minimum, I would expect most people to agree he should be relegated to DH/PH type of duties, even if that's not a particularly smart response.
  23. I can understand Matt Harvey being loyal to him, he got free tickets out of the deal. AL East pitchers will also be saddened to miss out on JPA's generosity.
  24. AA probably paid this Philly reporter to post this rumour so when Bautista gets traded for s*** in reality, there will be less uproar because it was better than this trade. We have been conditioned now for low expectations.
