  1. Most premium free agents go to the team that give them the extra year and money. Everyone wants to play for the Yankees. They gave Cole 9 years and 324! There's hardly a Yankee discount there. That deal is insane for a pitcher. It's not my money. 6 years 30 30 25 25 20 20....get Springer in a Blue Jays cap!
  2. 5 and 35 is a lot for Bauer. He's got a career 3.85 FIP. You can say he's been really good 2 of the last 3 years, but last year was hardly a year and he pitched probably the softest possible schedule possible. I just don't see the teams that are going to bid bauer up to a 35 AAV. I think he's better than his career numbers(which are still pretty good), but I don't think he's Gerrit Cole either. I'm intrigued at where his number will go. There could be a team that goes 5 years and north of 30 AAV, but it would shock me if he had to take 3 or 4 years to get the AAV he wants.
  3. Bryant could be a fantastic pick up for a team that has the money to spend. He's a pretty good player going into a contract year. It would seem that the cost to acquire him won't be that high. The Jays could do a lot worse than trading for Bryant and putting money into pitching.
  4. Bauer pitched against the Sox once last year giving up 2 runs on 2 solo home runs striking out 5 over 7 innings with one walk. That was the only decent team he faced. He faced the Cubs twice who finished 20th in runs scored. He faced Milwaukee 3 times, Pittsburgh twice, Detroit twice, and the Royals once. He's obviously a very good pitcher, but where does his AAV land? I can't put him at 36. I'm not sure I can put him at 30. Somewhere between 25 and 30 over 5 years. It seems all the big free agents are asking for the world and there just aren't a lot of spenders. Are we going to wait until the end of January before their asks come down and guys start signing?
  5. He was 2nd on the Jays in wRC+ and 29th in the entire league last year. 138 is bordering on elite. It's how you view him. Is he on a trajectory to improve on this or sustain these levels or was it a small sample size and you expect him to be more like a 115 wRC+ guy? This guy hit at the end of 2019 on one leg when he came back from a hamstring injury and had no business being in the lineup. I feel like he can be 35% plus better than league average. You can't ignore the 5 mil price tag. It's not easy getting a top 30 hitter for 5 mil, especially one who can hold down a position. Sign DJ for 20 and keep Gurriel and I think you're stronger than getting Lindor for 20 this year, 30 next year and giving up prospects on top of that.
  6. I would deny this, but I'm afraid my wife might see the post.
  7. and I'm guessing you're single.
  8. I'd be more concerned they react and sign Bauer and Turner!
  9. seems like an odd place for the player to sign. He's fighting for playing time. If he gets off to a rough start he might find himself on the bench most days.
  10. 4 years 25 mil for kim....ahhh..
  11. Trading LGJ scares me. This kid can hit. I don't think last year was his best offensive year. Trading a guy who could be 40 to 50 percent better than league average with his bat when he makes 5 mil a year just seems wrong. Carrasco has to be included in the deal for me if we're trading LGJ.
  12. Sign me up. I'd do that deal for Darvish.
  13. He's 34 and his velocity ticked up last year and his walk rate was a career low. He could double up on what he did last year and provide fantastic value. I think he's capable of 5 to 6 wins next year. I just like Darvish. I could be wrong. I think this was a great deal for San Diego. The Jays have money to spend. There's still targets out there. We need to land some.
  14. He put up 3 wins in 60 games last year. He's owed 20 mil a season. I can think of worse value..lol.
  15. I choose to believe twitter. It never lies and I'm pissed that one team accomplished so much in one day and still held on to it's best prospects.
  16. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if it's so impossible for the Jays to attract players, why the hell did we let Kim get away because of a minor league clause? We need to get some s*** done soon.
  17. That feels a lot light for Cubs.
  18. He had a .996 OPS coming into tonight and he dances. Ang...cut the kid some slack!
  19. I can't see any way the Jays won't do something given all the talk they've done in the media. My fear is that they over pay to get lindor. I would rather they overpaid with dollars to get Bauer, Springer, or Lemahieu
  20. This better be a big haul for the Cubs! I wanted Darvish.
  21. You're right. It was a flippant response. I was just thinking what do they have left to get Darvish? Wasn't even thinking about Cronenworth. Plus I really like Darvish. I think Darvish is going to be a cy young contender for the next 3 years. A tick up in velocity and better command for Darvish is a scary thought. Darvish might be the fine wine of pitching. He could be getting better with age.
  22. Cronenworth could be really good piece. Late bloomer, but 6 years of Cronenworth could be perceived with a ton of value by the cubs. They probably can get it done without Gore, but yeah, they will have thinned out their farm to a large degree. If you still have your top 2 prospects after it's all said and done, that's pretty nice work.
  23. I feel like Gore will be traded if they get Darvish.
  24. The Padres are starting to piss me off! I really thought the Jays were going to get Kim. Ok, that path is dead. Atkins, so something now!
  25. Crazy to think that they're still in on Darvish! Are they trading Gore now? Preller's never been afraid of making a bold move. Lots have backfired, but Darvish and Snell sure will help out a rotation next year! At least they are in the National league!
