  1. That's sounds like the Jays are in at serious numbers and Springer is waiting to see if a team he'd rather play for matches or comes close, but he would go to the Jay if that offer doesn't materialize.
  2. I agree....Kim and Paxton please......Bauer too if that's not too greedy..lol.
  3. Gray has 3 years of control left and he put up a 3.05 FIP in 2020.
  4. Man by this time last year the top 4 free agents were signed, and 7 of the top 10. This year 3 of the top 30 are signed and 2 of those were guys who accepted the QO and McCann was the first in the top 30 to sign. This off season needs to pick up already.
  5. Is he really that broken? He had a broken arm the same that Pearson had. He had soft tissue injuries, the oblique and the teres which are related, and more concerning. Neither of those really concern me that he can't get back physically to where he was. It's not like he had a rotator cuff injury or surgery for any of his injuries. If he comes out and is still throwing low 90s with his fastball, lots of teams will be offering a 1 year deal for Kluber. The guy had one of the best curveballs in all of baseball. He's worth the gamble.
  6. I'm sure they do. Internally teams make their own evaluations. Why would the mets sign a player for 4 years 10 if they thought he was going to be s***. Steamer thinks he's going to be s***. The mets don't. In a couple years we'll know who's right. Steamer is projecting Nate Pearson to have a 4.86 FIP next year. We'll see if they are right on that one.
  7. I'm pretty sure most teams don't use steamer projections to evaluate talent. They obviously don't project him to be a sub .300 wOBA guy. His exit velocity did tick up the last couple years. His hard hit percentage ticked up the last couple years, his walk rate ticked up slightly. His XWOBA the last 2 years were .327 and .329. He may have made some strides defensively and framing the last couple years. I don't really care how McCann does. As someone said, I'm glad they are spending money on a player I don't want. I hope he doesn't do that well. The Mets are now the Yankees 2.0 with crazy money to spend. I hope they waste money here and there.
  8. I thought the Angels were linked. I'm not sure how serious. I'm glad the Mets are getting their business done. The big free agents seem to be waiting on them.
  9. I'm not suggesting they are. I'm just pointing out the unique difficulties the Colorado players face. People look at a guys home road splits and if he's a .750 OPS hitter on the road, that's the type of hitter he is. More often than not if that player played anywhere else than Colorado his road OPS would likely by higher.
  10. It's the Coors field factor that attracts me to Story. wRC+ and OPS+ are park adjusted. Everything Story does at Coors is discounted. Travelling from elevation to sea level on the road is hard on the body. In addition to that adjusting to breaking balls that break a lot more than they do on the road is a very difficult endeavour. Nothing is added to a Rockies players wRC+ or OPS+ for the unique challenges they face on the road. When I look at a Rockies players wRC+ like Story's that's a career 114 I feel like he's more of a 120 or even slightly better player. You are perhaps right about the connection. They may have a better shot at an extension with Lindor. You have to at least explore Story if you are going to get a short stop. I'm not sure I'd go that route if Bauer was a possibility. We need pitching.
  11. If we are truly entertaining the idea of Lindor I don't know why we aren't also in the mix for Story who probably wouldn't cost us Gurriel and would likely sign a cheaper extension.
  12. I'm not sure how much money there is to be made off the Korean baseball fan and we may already have some of that revenue off just having Ryu. Still, you add one of the most exciting position players with Ryu who is probably the most popular Korean baseball player you would think you could be a financial argument that we could increase revenue by signing Kim to offset some of his salary.
  13. Just go get him. He is the one guy who actually wants to come here. He might come at a discount. The way the market's going 5 years 30 mil plus posting fee might be enough. He stole 55 bases over the past 2 years and was caught 6 times. He walked 12% of the time last year and struck out 10% of the time. You can see he's strong young kid with some bat speed. From what I've read his defense is at least average and he can play multiple positions, but I have read anywhere that claims him to be a stud defender by any means. Still he can play across the infield. Seems like a pretty reasonable gamble over 5 years after we just dumped 24 mil on the tire fire that is Tanner Roark.
  14. JT Realmuto's market has really evaporated. The Mets seem like they are going to overpay to get Springer. I feel like we should trade Danny Jansen to the Brewers for Josh Hader and swoop in and sign JTR for 5 and 90 maybe less.
  15. I doubt investors are concerned with capex. There year over top line was down although much less so in q3. In a absurdly low interest environment the market has chased growth and this is why they are down.
  16. We've had good luck with Koreans. Time for the Jays to sign Kim.
  17. fair enough. If multiple articles about the blue jays willingness to spend and being in on everyone with things being imminent hadn't been written every day for the last 10 days I might not have been such an insufferable prick. I'm not used to having expectations going into an off season. Last year Ryu came off as a pleasant shocking surprise. This year I expect the Jays to do something!
  18. The guy lives in California. He will make more money than any player in baseball history. I'm not sure the words suffering and Mike trout belong in the same sentence. I know. You're a fan of the game, more than a fan of the Blue Jays. I'd rather see the Jays sign Bauer and have a shot at the world series. What a crazy position to have..lol.
  19. So now I'm a mentally unstable drunk because I don't like the Angels and find it ridiculous that someone posting on a Jays fan board would rather Bauer sign with the Angels than the Jays. That's one high horse indeed that you're riding on.
  20. You're the one discussing your beloved Angels in the General Blue Jays Discussion Thread. Seems a bit off topic. I can't help but wonder if you've knocked back a few pints yourself.
  21. Screw the Angels. They've done nothing but f*** up for years. Those poor people in LA need another title. Why even post on the Jays message board? I'm sure there is an Angels message board you can discuss baseball on...lol. You are right. I am more emotionally invested in the Jays. f*** the Angels, Yankees and Red Sox. Go Jays!
  22. Yes, in a general blue jays message board discussion board, let's hope that the Angels blow over the cap and get Bauer and Gray just to make the playoffs. I'm going to hope the Jays get Bauer and Gray and they will still have 50 mil less in payroll than the Angels. Who would the Angels even have to trade for Gray. Screw the Angels.
  23. Come on Ross....the Royals have outspent us by a wide margin! Open up the wallet. Let's go!
  24. Once again, comparing a guy who has several minor league season in and actual experience in the MLB and a guy who has spent 10 minutes in the minors isn't a good comp. Comparing a guy who throws 100 to a guy who thows 92 isn't a good comp. The lower velocity guy may end up being the better MLB pitcher compared to a high velocity guy, but the way young pitchers are viewed the high velocity guys are more coveted and are more often viewed with higher upside. Manoah is 3 years younger.
  25. One thing, the Sox have just made themselves more attractive to free agents for next year. We could do the same by going and signing Paxton!
