  1. I would be disappointed if they tender Shaw a contract.
  2. Why has the MLB not made a decision on the National league DH? It's ridiculous.
  3. 15 mil a year for Segura to provide depth...If we sign Wong and trade for Segura I will lose all faith.
  4. He's basically Randall Grichuk, but younger and the market values that player at about 5 or 6 mil now.
  5. I don't want to overpay but if a Rosenthal could be had for 7 mil a year and only a 2 year commitment that might intrigue me, especially if we signed a springer and another starting pitcher. Jake Mcgee's velocity ticked up last year and he could likely be had cheap. Darren O'day, Yates, Greene, Melancon, Bass, Holland. There's quite a few decent relievers that could come at a pretty decent price.
  6. There are quite a few relievers out there. We need to get one. Trevor May on a 2 year would have made me happy. I'd be just as happy with Trevor Rosenthal as well who will likely get a similar contract. It will be interesting to see how much he got. I'd be fine with a couple relievers even further down the list.
  7. It's a hypothetical endeavor at this point. Nothing has been announced. Colour me skeptical about your knowledge of what the funding will look like for a stadium that may not be announced for several years.
  8. I have no problem with tax payer money coming in. It should just be from the city and the province. The people who pay those taxes largely reap the benefit. The question is need. Is a 31 year stadium really in need of replacing? That's for Rogers and the tax payers of Toronto to decide.
  9. I don't get the whole economic for stadiums. If they don't make money, which they don't we can't have them. We have them because they are fantastic facilities to use. There's a cost to owning nice things. I think municipal and provincial governments should provide funding. The people they represent will get to use the facility. Federal government's should stay out of it. I don't care if Mosaic makes any economic sense? I don't because every time I go there I absolutely love my experience. Whatever the tax paying cost it was worth it to me. We spent a crap ton of money on an art gallery in out city and I will never go to. I have no problem because many people will go and enjoy the gallery. The gallery will never make money, but it's a fantastic facility that many will enjoy so it's worth the expense.
  10. If sask and it’s 1.1 million people can fund a 320 mil stadium without a dime from the feds then Ontario and it’s 14.5 million population should be able to fund an 800 to 1 billion dollar stadium.
  11. Almost is a scary word. I don't want a penny of my federal taxes going to this stadium.
  12. So is there going to be any federal government money put into this?
  13. It's time to go sign both Kluber and Paxton on one year deals. Go get it done Shatkins.
  14. Our number 1 is Hyn-jin Ryu. A guy we signed..lol. We have money to spend. A rotation of Ryu and 4 question marks will have a harder time making the playoffs over 162 and we don't know if playoffs will be 5, 6 7 or 8 teams. I know you're fine with waiting 2 years until the kids are ready. I know you are convinced SWR will be an ace, but there is a chance he won't. You don't waste years. If you are good enough to compete go out and get some certainty.
  15. I would say the chance of us seeing SWR are almost zero. He's pitched 28.1 innings at A+ ball and hasn't pitched more than 106 innings in a season and had to take last year off.
  16. Man...I would have really like to get Morton at 1 and 15 for the Jays.
  17. 6 man rotation? Is it possible the Jays and other teams look to a 6 man rotation? With the lack of innings last year, are teams going to be cautious and try and protect arms? With a kid like Pearson I'm guessing they are going to limit his innings.
  18. I feel like James Paxton is going to sign with the Jays. Boras is saying way too many good things about us. That would really get me pumped despite the obvious injury risk.
  19. We weren't under a rebuild. We made the playoffs in 2016. I don't recall any bold decisions of a tear down. We never traded Donaldson in 2017. We offered Encarnacion a 4 year deal in 2017. That didn't seem like a rebuild move. We signed Morales in 2017 to a 3 year deal. That wasn't a rebuild move.
  20. Yes, but some of our guys are pre-date Atkins. Atkins didn't want to draft high school players in 2016. Long term scouts wanted Bo Bichette ahead of Woodman. They lost that battle as we took Woodman first and Brian Parker fought tooth and nail to take Bo with their next pick. He was fired 2 months later. So Atkins gets credit for Bo, but he never saw him play and it was hold over scouts from the previous regime that drafted one of our most important young pieces. GMs get credit for a lot of things that can be attributed to luck. You want to draft this player, but another team takes him and you settle for a guy who ends up being far better. You trade for a player who you think could provide some value, but he ends up being a star and you would never have imagined he had that upside. Pearson is a stud. That's the Atkins regime. Lourdes was a fantastic signing. Teoscar is looking amazing. Biggio is a wonderful young player. I believe Kirk is going to be a stud, but Tinnish has been with the Jays forever and long time area scout Dean Decillis brought him into the fold. You don't think we would have had Kirk if AA was our GM? Alex wouldn't go against the same guys who worked when he was a GM to sign a guy for 30K. This comparing of the 2 GMs and declaring one is better than the other gets old after awhile. You probably need 3 decades of work to see if a guy is a really good GM and by that point they are ready to retire! I'd rather focus on the Jays of today and what we need to do. Unfortunately the offseason moves at a snails pace so it's easy to get side tracked with this crap.
  21. So AA is a Saber denier and believes GM meetings are a waste of time. That sounds like a whole lot of fiction.
  22. are we trading for Harden to play 3rd base? Take this talk to the lounge!
  23. I wish building a winner was that easy.
  24. This just gets me excited. A fit Vlad. Let's go spend some money. Make a trade. A couple impact players are within our reach. Add a couple relievers and let's roll. We're ready to compete!
  25. Morosi now tweeting Vlad is down 40lbs since the start of the season. 20 during the season and he's lost 20 since the end of the season. He's hoping to lose 10 more and get to 235. Not sure how reliable this is though..lol.
