Gonsolin is their 6th starter! If the Dodgers want to stay under the cap for the 4th year in a row, which they may not it gives them salary flexibility and Stripling is a much better 6th man. Gonsolin should be in the rotation.

I hope we go out and sign Springer. I just don't see his market. I would love to start praising management again. A springer signing would certainly move me back into the happy fan camp.

All the more reason they should have been in on Darvish which was not a big asking price. They could have got Darvish and Bryant in a package deal and solved 3rd base and the rotation for next year.

well we can see where the contract settles and the reports that come after. There's a big difference between the Jays walked away because the money was too much and the jays were willing to offered a similar amount and he chose the Yankees. I would love to hear the Jays offered more and he took less to stay with the Yankees. That would give me more hope for the remaining guys.

I'd rather have Price at 2 and 32. Stripling for Price. Go make the trade. The Dodgers can go over the cap, but it seems like a point of pride with management staying under having been under the last 3 years. This would give them some salary flexibility to deploy capital elsewhere.

I feel like David Price could be traded for a lottery ticket prospect or maybe the Dodgers take Stripling back. The Dodgers have been under the luxury tax the last 3 years. This would give them some payroll flexibility. He would be a nice add to this team. 2 years left on his deal. That fits in with the young kids coming up.

Roark is 35 years old. He got rocked when he moved to the American League. That trend continued last year. I don't expect anything from Roark. His FIP in 2019 was 4.67. It's not like he was good. Walker is 27. He's had a lot of injuries. If I was going to gamble on upside, at least Walker has some. I really like Walker the person, but I'd rather sign Kluber if I was going to go the gambling route.

Last year Pitchers didn't have a normal spring training to build up to the season. 17 innings wouldn't lead me to believe Baez is worse than Cole.

It's Corey Kluber throwing day, which will inevitably lead to 3 or 4 Jays article from various local media groups indicating the Jays sent scouts to watch and they are interested! I'm glad the media will have something to write about tonight. It would make sense anyone interested in Paxton or a handful of other starters would want to wait and see Kluber. Maybe we can get some movement on the starting pitching market after today.

He had a swinging strike rate of 19% last year and 17% the year before in 85 innings. He's a guy that can give you more than one inning. I'm not sure how pitching in Oakland would have much of an effect on the amount of swings and misses he get. Chapman gets paid 18 mil a year in New York and he's never pitched more than 57 innings in a year for them. I don't know what sort of argument you could make to say he hasn't been a top 5 reliever in the game over the past 2 years. i'm fine with you saying you don't want to pay a 32 year old reliever that much money over that amount of years. Guys can fall off the rails at any time. Chicago who already got a one year rental in Lynn probably probably feel pretty good about Hendriks as their highest leverage reliever next year. How will they feel about that in year 2, 3 or 4? Time will tell. I would have liked Hendriks, but given the needs of our team I wouldn't have went to those levels either. We need to get out there and overpay for a Springer, DJ Lemahieu, JT Realmuto or a starting pitcher.

He's had a sub 3 FIP 5 of the last 7 years. League average FIP is 4.5. His other 2 years were 3.22 and 4.33. Even his one bad year wasn't hot garbage. The last 2 years he's had a FIP 1.14 and 1.87. 3 years and 30 was never going to get it done for Hendriks..lol
