  1. It depends on how the contract is structured. Degrom had 13 to 15 mil a year of his deal deferred 15 years and I'm pretty sure there is no interest accruing on that money. Degrom will be earn 52.5 mil from ages 47 to 50..lol
  2. He's being paid 13.5 mil not 18.
  3. I don't know why we didn't. Historically looking at elite relievers 4 and 13.5 isn't awful. Melancon got 4 and 62. 4 and 54 would seem like a bargain for Hendriks.
  4. Seems silly on the face of it, but if we had structured Roark's deal as a 1 year 12 with a 12 mil buyout and option with the ability to pay him 1 mil per year for the next 12 I'd be paying him the 1 mil a year for the next 12 and reinvesting that money saved in a heart beat!
  5. He got 3 and 39 and 15 in his 4th year, not 18 mil a year. That 15 mil option if declined to be paid over a period of time according to Rosenthal...so like a million a year until he's 50?
  6. 3 and 39 with a 4th year for 15 with a 15 mil buyout. So it's 4 and 54. Are there tax reason's it would be structured that way?
  7. 87% of that 87% are guys I don't want. Another player that could provide and impact is off the board. Liam Hendriks gone.
  8. I know bad joke..but seriously we need some help from somewhere. We brought out the big gun. Shapiro did a personal tour of our facilities and Hendriks signed with Whitesox. No one wants to play for us.
  9. It pains to say it because I don't really like him, but we may need Drake's help to close the deal with Bauer. If Drake agrees to do some cross promotional stuff with Bauer on social media that may seal the deal for us!
  10. I don't think Buehrle is a hall of famer, but he did have 214 wins. An ERA of 3.81 and he played the first half of his career in the steriod era. He was one of the best fielders at his position and might hold the record for pick offs. I don't think he's a hall of famer, but kind of glad he will last more than a year. He was one of my favourite players while he was here.
  11. He's a tick better offensively, 2 years younger and a better defender. If Grossman's 2 and 10 Grichuk is probably 2 and 14. Signing guys isn't that easy. Just look at us. As much as no one wants to come to us, no one wants to go to cleveland either.
  12. Who's going to give Springer 30 a year for 5 years though? 5 and 125 seems pretty realistic. A team might stretch to 130 or 135. Mariners, Giants, Sox, Jays?
  13. Schwarber 1 and 10 to the Nationals. I thought they said no DH in the national league this year..lol.
  14. Cole pitched reasonably well. I wouldn't say there's lots of surplus value, but there's no harm bringing him in on a minor league deal. Bass has been a lot better than cole over the last 3 years. I wouldn't mind bringing Bass back. I can't imagine it will cost that much.
  15. I of Paxton and Kluber would be 133 in Payroll. Both would be 145. I don't see why the Jays couldn't go there. I realize that all these scenario's would never happen. I'm just bored and throwing out dream scenarios because there's nothing else to talk about. I think Grichuk makes a lot of sense for Cleveland. Their offense blows and so does their outfield. This still have great pitching and Ramirez. They need offense and specifically power. Grichuk's below average in centre, but at least average in the corner. He's a solid 2 to 2.5 win player and he derives his value from what Cleveland is sorely lacking. 3 and 24 or 3 and 21 might make sense for Cleveland.
  16. Could happen. I already thought of trading them Grichuk as a cheaper option! They need some power. I'm also worried about the Giants. They are losing almost all of their payroll at the end of this year.
  17. The Indians have cleared a lot of payroll. I know they aren't spenders, but they have 23 mil committed plus league min would bring them up another 13. They can spend more than 36. I wonder if we could dump Grichuk on them. Even if we ate 2 mil a season our payroll drops to 62 mil plus league min salaries. You add Springer and DJL for 46 mil. Hendriks for 10. Kluber or Paxton for 1 and 12. A Jake Mcgee or Kirby Yates type for 3 to 5 mil. That gets us to 123 plus league min salaries bringing us to 133 range giving us flexibility in season and next season with Paxton's 12, Tulo's 4 mil, Shun's 3 mil and Roark's 12 coming off the books we would have 29 dropping off next year. I mean you could add 12 and sign Kluber and Paxton. They are just one year gambles and we would be 145 Cavan Bo DJL Springer Gurriel Vlad Teoscar Tellez Jansen/Kirk Ryu Paxton Kluber Pearson Ray Hendriks Romano Dolis Yates
  18. It said right in the article the Mets had been willing to off a 5 year deal for somewhat less than 150 million. What does somewhat less mean? 5 mil, 20 mil or 50 mil. Media speak. I wish players would just sign so we don't have to read ambiguous media reports.
  19. I understand Springer's stance. Rendon got 245. That's what he's looking at. Players need to realize the covid really effected things. TV revenues are also an issue that's coming up now. The market is adjusting. Players need to adjust. If Springer was a free agent last year he might have got 160 or 170. The Jays 115 offer is pretty solid. I'm sure the Jays would bump to 125. I don't see where he's getting any more than that anywhere else. The Jays might be bidding against themselves.
  20. Chachin to the Yankees 800K guaranteed plus 200K in incentives. I hope that's their replacement for Tanaka..lol
  21. I've seen no reputable report that the Mets have or had an offer of 5 and 150. There was no name guy that tweeted the that the mets had an offer of 5 and 150 out there, but he indicated that report had come from Martino. You go to Martino's twitter page and no where did he post anything like that. Yesterday Martino gave interviews talking about how the Mets don't want to exceed the competitive balance tax limit and ideally would be 5 to 10 mil under to make in season moves. Martino suggested in interviews yesterday the Mets would have to trade salary to sign Springer. I could see the Sox jumping into the Springer mix, I'm not sure who else though. I think there's a chance Springer does sign with us. There should be a Canada for Dummies book(It's not as scary as you think!) that we can give to American free agent targets.
  22. This is a crazy year. When I look at Bauer, JTR and Springer I'm not sure where their markets are. We're in on Springer, but who else? DJ seems to have the Yankees and Dodgers to drive his market and we're in of course because we're in on everyone. When have the top 4 players had such soft markets?
  23. I think that little train headed up that steep hill was saying," I think I can, I think I can!" not "f*** it, that hill looks like a bitch, I'll never get to the top!" If you're so confident Springer isn't going to come to the Jays, where is he going to land?
  24. I'd just place a wager with you, but you don't bet. So I'll just ignore Callis and Mayo and decide you're ridiculous for buying into their ********. He's 20, pitched 28 innings at high A and they are delaying the start of the minor league season.
  25. SWR isn't pitching for the Jays in 2021.
