  1. I enjoy watching soccer. I follow quite a bit, but I'm not a soccer nut. If I was a soccer nut I probably would have heard of Corbeanu before. Last night was the first time I saw him play. 18 years old with his height and he's fast. I didn't realize he's already been on the bench a handful of times for Wolves in the premier league. This kid looks so tantalizing. Millar I was aware of. He looked good when he came on and at 21 he's still got some upside. Larin looks like a different player too. He's much fitter. I was down on Larin, but he looks like a different player. What really struck me is I was excited to see Laryea play. I really like his game. He outperformed my expectations. I think he might be the most under rated player on the national team. I don't see any way this team doesn't make the 8 team final group. What will shock people is we are going to be a ball dominant attacking team even against better competition. The fall is going to bring some really fun games for team Canada as they try and qualify for the world cup!
  2. shame they gave up the equalizer so shortly after. It's going to be a fight in the second half to get the go ahead goal. They need a win.
  3. Corbeanu! Canada just keeps pumping out good young players. This kid looks so promising. I love watching Richie Laryea. He's so good. So much pace.
  4. June 1 sounds about right!...lol. It's a shame the minor league season is delayed. If Manoah is killing it and we have some injuries in the summer, I would not be adverse to Manoah skipping AAA and coming to the bigs.
  5. They are also randomly taking balls thrown and testing them at a lab. This is anything but crude, and anyone trying to use substances will get caught. The best pitchers in the league will be the one's who randomly have their balls tested.
  6. Good for AA going on a small podcast. A lot of GMs wouldn't do that. I always enjoyed AA's accessibility. He's got a lot of charisma and I always enjoyed listening to him. I might check your buddy's podcast out now.
  7. It's probably unfair to speak in hindsight, but if there were issues with the medical having him start late and targeting a mid May start date may have been the better route. Nate Pearson gets hurt and days later he's throwing and re-injures his groin. Springer strains his oblique and we're talking about an opening day start. Maybe our medical team is over aggressive in getting guys back.
  8. If you take balls to a lab there's no real way for players to get around this. It should be fun to see who's spin rate falls 10% this year.
  9. Man I hope they Jays put Springer on the 10 day DL to start the season. There's a reason we have Grichuk on the bench. Don't jeopardize Springer's for the long term because you want him there for opening day.
  10. is there a field cam for this game...any link?
  11. I thought he had a decent shot before the Yates injury. It's a shame about Yates. Hopefully he isn't out too long.
  12. Rowdy has to find his timing and confidence. It's spring training. His career OPS vs lefties is .764....let's not over react.
  13. I was joking.
  14. 1.9 wins in 37 games last year. He killed it!
  15. Could be, but that's why he signed for 8.5. It's not a talent issue, it's a health issue. If he is healthy this year he's a 25+ mil pitcher. Some weren't sure he could get the velocity back. 96 in spring training without regular season adrenaline seems pretty good. Personally I hope he stays healthy so we can trade for him at the deadline!
  16. It would have been fun hearing people(Buck and Pat included) complaining that you can't have 4 lefties in the rotation without looking up to realize both Ryu and Paxton have reverse splits. Paxton with 8 ks in 4.1 today...8.5 for Paxton was a steal.
  17. Watching Roark today and seeing Paxton strike out Yelich with a 96 mph heater on twitter today makes me sick to my stomach. I wish we would have signed paxton and punted Roark.
  18. Somehow Davis still has an option. I don't think they would ideally keep 5 outfielders, but Davis does have a speed element and solid late inning defense that could be valuable. He's done everything he can to make the club too. I kind of feel bad for the kid. I feel like that option prevents him from making the team, but maybe he takes that 26th spot.
  19. So how's the bench going to shake out? I'm assuming we go with 8 relievers so that's 4 bench spots. One is a catcher(Kirk) another is Rowdy/Grichuk depending on who you put in the top 9 and 2 spots left. Espinal, Panik, Davis. Who makes it? Davis and Espinal have options I believe. Could they go with 3 catchers and retain McGuire?
  20. You say that now after having seen him strike out 7 yankees in a row! I bet prior to camp you would have moved Manoah in a Castillo trade..lol. I tend to agree though. Manoah looks really good. He's not someone I want to move after having seen him this spring.
  21. It's good to hear, so when people complain about Buck I can remind people that there's plenty of people just as bad or worse than Buck.
  22. I prefer the cocky approach. Just pick names out a hat. We're that deep it almost doesn't matter!
  23. Baseball...be very afraid. Our .600 hitter is on the bench today..lol
