  1. Orelvis Martinez' single had a 105 mph exit velocity.
  2. Most of the fans behind home plate weren't paying attention and missed it lol
  3. Another error for Austin Martin. Martin to CF in 3,2,1....
  4. I thought Groshans bat looked slow, too. In videos his bat has seemed super quick. Maybe just a bit late today.
  5. Anyone notice that Judge seems to have a new set of chompers?
  6. Holy f*** that was an annoyingly produced inning by YES. Did we need a shot of Aaron Boone for every second? With his lack of respect for the health protocols too!
  7. I can't stand Buck either. It seemed like every inning last season he would complain about pitchers not using their fastball more.
  8. Zulueta has 52 walks in 77 career innings in Cuba. Hopefully he can figure out how to harness his stuff but he appears to be pretty wild. Edit - Actually 116 BB in all the 163.2 innings on Baseball Reference. His Cuban numbers are aggregated weirdly on BR. It also looks like he pitched 10 innings in an exhibition series of Cubans against Can-Am Indy teams in 2017.
  9. Guys like Ben Nicholson-Smith and Arden Zwelling are saying the Blue Jays don't have much payroll room left. It doesn't sound like there's a chance to get Odorizzi.
  10. 1/$8.5M + incentives that can raise that to $10M for Paxton. I would have done that in a heartbeat.
  11. I think YES might broadcast every Yankees game. With fewer opponents this spring a good portion might be watchable.
  12. I've already spent a couple bucks on 2 versions of this game and never played it.
  13. Maybe he'll agree to taking just a portion of his money then re-sign in Japan. In any case a 40-man spot has been cleared.
  14. I was looking back at some of AA's drafts and 2015 has to be one of the worst drafts by a team ever lol https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?team_ID=TOR&year_ID=2015&draft_type=junreg&query_type=franch_year&from_type_jc=0&from_type_hs=0&from_type_4y=0&from_type_unk=0 Travis Bergen's 1.2 innings are probably the only thing the Blue Jays are going to get from that entire class. Brady Singer wasn't signed and his pick turned into JB Woodman.
  15. Wasn't Marcus talking about him and Bauer last night? I think Marcus is projecting!
  16. I guessed 1/$42M back in August and thought that could be a touch high. Pretty good guess though! https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/9301-Around-Baseball-2020?p=1446389&viewfull=1#post1446389
  17. I don't see why Arenado would opt out. Unless he put up like an 8 WAR season in 2021. He's making $35M for the next four seasons, then $32M, then $27M. I don't see him realistically matching that in free agency.
  18. Yeah. My post was inspired by seeing a comment that suggested offering Walker 2 years $25 million.
  19. The Sportsnet commenters are going to be irate when Taijuan Walker signs for like 1/$7M with the Mariners or something.
  20. Jon Harris streams like every day on Twitch to 1 or 0 viewers. Kinda sad to be honest! https://www.twitch.tv/jharris_29
  21. There is just so little professional data on Groshans that I can't really get too miffed at any ranking of his. Law must think he's not a shortstop. It's hard to imagine a shortstop with his batspeed and power potential not cracking a top 100. Nate Pearson is kinda in a weird spot in the Blue Jays fandom right now. They've got a guy ranked #5 on at least one list and there is basically no chatter about him. Remember all the hype from Travis Snider when he was similarly ranked. Obviously it's because expectations were tempered by last season and we've been blue-balled for a whole year due to his injury and performance. It's just a game of wait and see, no questions of potential service time manipulation going into the spring training. The big acquisitions distract from Pearson too but he just seems to be in a weird place in the minds of Blue Jays fans right now lol
  22. Don't like this much but the 40-man spots were needed and Matz has some upside I guess.
  23. It's already posted in this thread. They got Loup!
  24. I liked McCown because he was interested in sportswriters and sports stories. He'd often have interesting guests on in the 6pm hour. The Friday roundtables where McCown and some writers would get together and just discuss a slew of topics were often something to avoid, lest they start trying to place armchair GM. Maybe those points sound a bit contradictory but I just mean the storytelling was good, the analysis often bad.
  25. WAR leaderboards for the last three seasons: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2020&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2018-01-01&enddate=2020-12-31&sort=22,d Obviously it skews things with the shortened season last year but Semiem is #11 in baseball. Just ahead of Nolan Arenado.
