  1. You know Dave Hudgens is the bench coach, right?
  2. I don't think there is any argument where choosing to put the best reliever from the regular season into a playoff elimination game is a worse decision than deciding to not put the best reliever from the regular season into a playoff elimination game.
  3. Lourdes' standing as a finalist seems even more weird at first, given that the finalists are completely metrics-based this year. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/2020-rawlings-gold-glove-award-finalists-announced-301158327.html#:~:text=Historically%2C%20the%20Rawlings%20Gold%20Glove,players%20from%20their%20own%20team. But then you realize that there were only 8 players in the American League that had the requisite 265 innings in LF. LINK I'm still not quite sure how Lourdes made the final three. He's not in the top three in Statcast's Outs Above Average (counting stat), Statcast's Success Rate Added (rate stat), or DRS. His UZR was slightly better than Tucker and Rosario. Gurriel must have gotten some points in " traditional statistics with advanced analysis" - whatever the hell that means.
  4. Well at least Vancouver will have a full season team. They very well might have been stuck without a team at all. The Blue Jays would want their AA and AAA sites much closer than Vancouver. And of course Dunedin takes another full season spot. I'm not sure how many full-season teams will be left after the shakeup but this seemed destined to happen.
  5. Potential Rule 5 guys: Gabriel Moreno Otto Lopez Kevin Smith Josh Winckowski Chavez Young Ty Tice Samad Taylor Ryan Noda Riley Adams You have to protect Moreno. Ty Tice is the type of guy that doesn't get protected and someone takes a flier on him. Winckowski could maybe get grabbed so I think he's a debatable case to add to the 40-man. Otto Lopez is probably too raw for a team to use a positional player roster spot on him. Still maybe worth protecting him. So, they probably need two or three 40-man spots need for these guys, I think.
  6. There isn't any substance here but I'll post this alternate site report anyways: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/news/blue-jays-alternate-site-report
  7. After 11 of the first 36 games to start the season went to extra innings, the Blue Jays haven't gone to extras since September 3rd. A streak of 22 games.
  8. Tropicana field has been a house of horrors for the Blue Jays since the Rays became consistently good starting in 2008. They are 39-81 for a .325 winning percentage since 2008. But the record doesn't even tell the whole story. So many of the loses have been soul-crushers where the Blue Jays should have won the game. Either ******** luck for the Rays or late collapses by the Blue Jays. It might not be the most rational thing in the world but Blue Jays fans don't want to see the games take place there because of all those memories. http://mcubed.net/mlb/tor/tb.shtml
  9. Welcome to the board. This place isn't quite as active as it once was so it's always good to have new members. Feel free to ask any questions.
  10. He's also got a lil' combed-back look going on there. Go Ross!
  11. The playoffs were easy to make
  12. Damn. First and foremost, RIP to the 3 people, of course. But he looked like a good prospect. He was great when the Blue Jays played the Bucs this spring.
  13. Kirk is second in baseball in average exit velocity Too late to win rookie of the year and/or MVP?
  14. Not surprising. His velocity has been down in his last few outings.
  15. It makes you wonder how much structural damage could have been avoided if Giles was immediately removed during that outing in Tampa Bay.
  16. f*** it, as fans we've lived our lives long enough having to deal with being in the AL East. Especially since the Rays became good 12 years ago. Time to embrace coin flips after 162 games. Count me on team #16Teams But it was never going to go back to the way it was anyway. Too much money being left on the table. Especially after losing all stadium revenue this year.
  17. Is Gameday glitching or is Espinal really lobbing in every pitch at 60 mph?
  18. 20? More like 40+
  19. Uncheck the box that says "Retrieve remote file and reference locally"
  20. McKinney to the Brewers means every team in the AL passed on him. Even the Orioles decided not to spend a 40-man spot on him! That's actually a bit surprising to me. There is still a chance he might become a 4th or 5th outfielder.
  21. I'd be surprised. Just comparing this season to last, he's walking more, striking out less, hitting the ball harder and for more power. Seems legit. He's also 6'0" and 220 pounds, so it's not like he's some Santiago Espinal type twink!
  22. That's who the Blue Jays GAVE UP for Solarte lol Still not a big loss I don't think. Olivares probably projects as a Billy McKinney, or a bit lesser.
  23. Brewers win 19-0 and The Braves win 29-2. I wonder what the record is for most runs two teams combined to score in one night. 48 has to be up there.
