  1. Who needs Springer?
  2. Merryweather should probably just shelve that curveball.
  3. The stoppable force vs a moveable object. Roark vs the 2021 Rangers
  4. Just some more on this: The average of those 9 projected wRC+ numbers is 77.2 (not the most scientific thing to do, I know) Jonathan Davis' projected wRC+ is 75 Joe Panik - 85 Santiago Espinal - 75
  5. Still dumn not to get the vaccine.
  6. Fangraphs DepthCharts wRC+ projections this season for that lineup: Kiner-Falefa - 72 Dahl - 85 Gallo - 105 Solak - 87 Lowe - 104 Trevino - 52(!) Holt - 76 White - 58 (!) Culberson - 56 (!) You shouldn't take anything for granted in baseball but good lord that is anemic. Gotta take the series win here.
  7. Dolis has to start throwing more strikes. He won't be able to get away with this over a full season.
  8. TSN has a good schedule if you have it.
  9. We'll see how much contact he makes as he gets into the upper minors. He looks like a strong prospect right now and the bat was impressively quick. But don't forget that he also struck out in 6 of his 12 PA this spring. I wouldn't read too much into his spring either way.
  10. I wonder if Rogers just offered $5.5M less to Ross in his contract negotiations!
  11. It was definitely a slider. Check out the vertical and horizontal movement (sort by Ray then order by velocity): https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=2021-03-19&gamePk=642099&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=pitchVelocity#642099 Didn't have as much drop as some other sliders so maybe it was firmer than he wanted it. Not a fastball or changeup though.
  12. Ray goes: 96.7 mph FB 97.1 mph FB 91 mph Slider 97.2 mph FB to strikeout Schoop I'm really looking forward to Ray this season. The velocity seems real. He's in the 4th inning right now and I doubt he's going to be asked to go more than 6 innings hardly ever.
  13. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2021/3/18/22337384/perfect-pitching-machine-trajekt-winmill-jeff-kensrud I'll let you click instead of posting it here. An interesting article about what technologies and approaches hitters are using to strike back in the world of pitch design and times-through-order penalties. Teams are also moving away from batting practice just being an uninstructive time to crush meatballs. When the Blue Jays signed Zach Stewart in 2019 it was apparently just to throw BP. Here's a video from the article about a Toronto companies' pitching robot: https://vimeo.com/454792845
  14. Sounds like Charlie is still feeling guilty over the Giles situation!
  15. Eh, I think it's fair enough to comment on with tact. It does noticeably affect the broadcast.
  16. Martin had a nice, patient walk. Groshans' earlier AB he was late on the fastball again and had a bad check-swing whiff on a breaking ball way outside.
  17. The Aquiline Ace is still a Blue Jay!
  18. Kirk keeps stretching out his right leg. It looks like he might have tweaked his groin.
  19. This CF camera is going to be great to watch for home games. It's such a better experience clearly seeing the movement on pitches.
  20. Roark only broke 90 mph once. It appears he's still looking for the velocity he lost last season.
  21. There were 6 balls put in play off him: 94 mph (flyout) 106 mph (HR) 106 mph (2B) 98 mph (HR) 100 mph (groundout) 101 mph (lineout) They completely teed-off on Allgeyer.
  22. SWR pitching around 92-93 with the fastball.
