  1. Padres need some bullpen help after trading Rodney. Plus, I could see Storen having success there.
  2. Who is on the trade market...
  3. Josh Phelps in 2004 I believe.
  4. Does he have a good glove as well? Really haven't seen him play.
  5. San Diego 43-56 4th NL West vs. Toronto 55-44 3rd AL East Pitching Matchup: Colin Rea (5-4, 5.01 ERA) vs. Aaron Sanchez (10-1, 2.87 ERA) It took 20 seasons of Interleague play, but with the Padres making their first trip to Toronto to begin a three-game series on Monday at Rogers Centre, every existing franchise will have visited every Major League city at least once. The Padres send Colin Rea (5-4, 5.01 ERA) to the mound for the series opener, with the right-hander looking to rebound after allowing eight hits and four runs in six innings in a 4-2 loss in St. Louis July 20. The Blue Jays counter with Aaron Sanchez (10-1, 2.87 ERA), who leads the American League with 15 quality starts in 19 outings. Sanchez has thrown 125 1/3 innings this season and is nearing his professional high of 133 1/3 thrown across three levels in 2014. An innings limit on Sanchez, 24, may be the only way to slow down the right-hander, who hasn't lost since April 22 and enters his start Monday having won his last nine decisions. In his only start since the All-Star break, Sanchez threw seven innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts and no walks in a 5-1 win in Arizona July 19. Padres Lineup: CF T. Jankowski 1B W. Myers RF M. Kemp 3B Y. Solarte LF A. Dickerson 2B R. Schimpf SS A. Ramírez DH B. Wallace C D. Norris Blue Jays Lineup: RF Jose Bautista ® 3B Josh Donaldson ® DH E. Encarnacion ® LF M. Saunders (L) SS Troy Tulowitzki ® C Russell Martin ® CF Kevin Pillar ® 1B Justin Smoak (S) 2B Devon Travis ® Game Notes: • Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is expected to return to the lineup after missing 30 games with a hyper-extended toe sustained June 16 in Philadelphia. Bautista, who appeared in three games with Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend, is hitting .283/.342/.501 with 12 home runs in 65 games this season. • Padres second baseman and former Blue Jays prospect Ryan Schimpf set a San Diego rookie record with his ninth home run in a month on Sunday. The 28-year-old leads all qualified players with nine homers, .852 SLG and 1.249 OPS in July. Schimpf was Toronto's fifth-round Draft pick in 2009, and spent seven seasons in the Blue Jays' organization. • The Padres have homered in a franchise-best 22 straight games, tied with the Boston Red Sox for the longest streak this season. San Diego's streak is the longest in the National League since the Atlanta Braves homered in 23 straight in 2006. http://img.thesun.co.uk/aidemitlum/archive/01863/You-Stay-Classy-Sa_1863195a.gif
  6. Jays have a lot of pitching depth, they would be fine.
  7. Seattle Mariners 50-47 vs. Toronto Blue Jays 54-44 SEA: Miley (6-7 , 5.36 ERA) vs. TOR: Happ (12-3 , 3.43 ERA) 1:07 PM ET Line: TOR -174 Lineups: Blue Jays: 1) 3B Darwin Barney 2) DH Josh Donaldson 3) 1B Edwin Encarnacion 4) LF Michael Saunders 5) SS Troy Tulowitzki 6) CF Kevin Pillar 7) RF Ezequiel Carrera 8) 2B Devon Travis 9) C Josh Thole Mariners: 1) LF Nori Aoki 2) DH Chris Iannetta 3) 2B Robinson Cano 4) RF Nelson Cruz 5) 1B Dae-Ho-Lee 6) 3B Kyle Seager 7) C Mike Zunino 8) CF Leonys Martin 9) SS Luis Sardiñas Notes (courtesy ESPN): J.A. Happ will be going for his career-best 13th win of the season on Sunday. Happ had a six-start winning streak stopped last Sunday when he did not factor in the decision in Toronto's 5-3 victory at Oakland. He allowed five hits, one walk and five runs in 5? innings. In his last seven starts, he is 6-0 with a 3.19 ERA. Happ was 4-6 with a 4.64 ERA in 21 games, including 20 starts, with Seattle last season. After being traded to the Pirates, he was 7-2 with a 1.85 ERA in 11 starts. In three career starts against Seattle, he is 1-1 with a 6.35 ERA. Miley (6-7, 5.38 ERA) will make his 18th start of the season and his fifth start since being reinstated from the disabled list (left shoulder impingement). He is 0-5 with a 5.60 ERA in his last five starts dating to June 12. On Tuesday he allowed six hits and three runs in 6? innings in a loss to the Chicago White Sox. That was good enough to earn him another chance on Sunday. In four career starts against Toronto, he is 1-2 with a 6.98 ERA. In his last two starts against the Blue Jays he is 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA. Drew Storen gone, Ryan Tepera called up.
  8. Yeah like BTS said, the arm you likely replace him with from Buffalo isn't going to much of an upgrade, if any at all. It's unfortunate that Storen hasn't panned out here because the Jays could really use him right now. Not sure what the exact stats are, though it seems like when Storen hasn't pitched in the closers role (even when with the Nats), he was pretty awful. Even when they went out and got Papelbon last season and pushed Storen down to the 8th inning, he just imploded.
  9. You can probably just purchase them on StubHub close to game time the day of and print them off at the UPS Store on Front St. Cheapest pair in the 500 level is $20.96 USD each on StubHub right now in Sec 529, Row 10, if you're inclined to purchase them in advance.
  10. Mariners aren't that s*****. They're 49-47, their lineup has a pretty darn good middle of the order (Cano, Cruz, Seager) and they threw two good pitchers at the Jays in the first two games of this series (Paxton can shut down a lineup when on & Iwakuma is really good). I expect the Jays to crush Miley tomorrow.
  11. I stayed at the Hyatt when I went to Chicago back in 2009 to catch a couple of Cubs games. Nice hotel and a nice bar/lounge as well. I believe your close to Millennium Park and I recall there was some good spots around. Definitely want to go back to Chicago again, seemed like a great city! Use StubHub or you could always check the Cubs site as they do release tickets close to the game. Not sure if you can scan the tickets from your phone via the StubHub app for Wrigley, though if not you just have to be close to a printer like Jay just said. As well, check out Vivid Seats as I've bought baseball tickets from them before as well.
  12. They should have closed the roof today because supposedly he pitches better with the roof closed. Plus with the humidity out there haha.
  13. Not for long though lol.
  14. Sanchez either gets shut down, or moves to the BP at some point from the sounds of it. He is either replaced with Chavez or Hutch. And stretching out Chavez likely will take around 2-3 starts. Plus, if you lose a starter to injury (e.g. Estrada, Happ, Stroman) on top of that, things are looking a bit thin. I agree that they could improve their offense as well, though if there is an opportunity to get an arm at a reasonable price, it doesn't hurt.
  15. You can never have enough pitching. The last thing the Blue Jays need is to be digging for guys like Chien Ming Wang, Ramon Ortiz and the Aaron Laffey's of the world to be making starts down the stretch if one of their starters or two go down to injury.
  16. Half a season worth of stats isn't considered that much of a small sample size.
  17. It would be cool to see them both play on the same team someday.
  18. Yeah just checked on the Blue Jays site. A seat in Sec 116 would cost $115 each + service fee's. That's crazy! I thought even with dynamic pricing tickets were like around $90 face value for premium games. I remember paying around that total for the Home Opener and I was even sitting in Sec 119 and closer up. Do you have season tickets?
  19. Tickets are $120 each face value? I know they raised ticket prices to weekend games, though still never thought they were that expensive.
  20. His K% rates have been on the rise as well the past two seasons in comparison to his first three seasons in the bigs. Any reason to this?
