    Hard to disagree with anything you said. The difference is the Blue Jays have put themselves in this position chasing down a Wildcard spot because of their inconsistent play over the course of the season thus far. It's frustrating for sure because a lot of us expect better from this team given their solid young core and talent. When the Jays get swept by the Angels or lose two of three against a sub .500 team at this point in the season, yes that's something to get frustrated about given that they need those wins to secure a spot in the Postseason. A team like the Dodgers or Yankees already have those wins banked because they were consistent and dominant during the first half. So if the Dodgers lose two of three to the Nationals, it's not the end of the world at this point in the season. The Yankees look like they're in free fall though, which would be a historic collapse. Though still they're 5.0 games up over Tampa and 5.5 over Toronto despite their awful play.

    Home games will be a huge advantage in that Wildcard short series no matter who the opponent is. Having last ABs if a game gets to extra innings along with 50K screaming fans at the Rogers Centre definitely is much more favorable.

    Last time I checked, Rays have been a better team up to this point. And yeah, because they're the Rays!

    Where did you say lets bet? If I make a prediction at the beginning of the season and say the Rays will win the Division, why do I have to bet anything to make what I said true lol.

    Rays will win the division like I said back in April.

    They were supposed to play at PNC in June 2020. Was going to drive down for the weekend. Had a hotel booked as well haha good thing I had free cancellation.

    Morton likely will come back on a one-year deal. Jansen can be replaced or brought back again on a short term/high AAV contract. Swanson will be tough to replace though Vaughn Grissom can likely fill in with the bat, though not sure he can stick long term at shortstop. They can find another corner OF during the offseason. Easy to upgrade over Rosario and Grossman. Braves definitely have built a sustainable winner for this decade. If their core players and arms stay healthy, I'm sure they can win another World Series or two.

    Ray/Manoah in 2021 and Gausman/Manoah in 2022 has been a wash. Matz 2021 > Kikuchi 2022, 2021 Berrios > 2022 Berrios, and Ryu 2021 > no Ryu in 2022. Stripling alone hasn't been enough to cover the struggles of those guys. I would say depth was the same in 2021 and 2022, only difference is that the Jays actually got solid performances from Berrios, Ryu and Matz in 2021, whereas in 2022 that hasn't been the case even for the replacements they brought in, other than Stripling.

    Yeah difference was Ryu was healthy most of 2021, Matz gave them 29 starts and was decent, alongside they acquired Berrios at the deadline and he pitched well down the stretch. Manoah also made 20 starts. In 2022, only 6 starts from Ryu, Berrios has been inconsistent, Kikuchi hasn't even come close to what Matz did last season. Stripling has been solid, but him alone can't make up for all the other downfalls in the rotation.

    I think Winker rebounds with the bat next season. Still only 28 and has a .340 OBP despite him being awful this season.

    Judge regresses somewhat in 2023 IMO. He probably goes back to being a 5 WAR player. Doubt he puts up another 8+ WAR season given his age and injury history though who knows. He's definitely capable of putting up special seasons like he did in 2017 and this season. If the Yankees win a World Series, I could see them paying him whatever he wants. If Yankees get bounced in the ALDS, they likely let him walk.

    Wouldn't sleep on the White Sox. Battled some significant injuries this season and have underachieved greatly. They were highly rated as the Blue Jays entering the 2022 season as well.

    Perfectly said. Orioles have been known to spend big when they're competing and this could be a big offseason for them. The team had success from 2012-2016, so they had a strong 5 year window of being competitive. I could see the same with this current roster. It's not a 1 year thing, likely looking at them being a threat in the AL East for another 4 or 5 years if they spend wisely and their top young talent produces.

    Yeah Baltimore would have to spend that money wisely, though they can definitely add some significant payroll if they wanted to which is scary. Orioles had success from 2012-2016. The AL East will always be one of the most difficult divisions in the AL. Yankees and Red Sox will always spend, and the Rays are always a threat even with a low payroll.
