  1. Stripling and Castillo are nice swingmen to have on a roster as SP insurance. Look at teams like the Dodgers who built up solid SP depth. The Jays won't at least sink if they need to call upon Stripling or Castillo for 2 or 3 starts if someone misses time. Even look at the Mariners who got both Castillo and traded for Matt Boyd.
  2. I've been saying this all day! Lack of SP options if there is an injury would definitely tank the Jays chances. Doesn't hurt going after another arm if it's a reasonable cost. I would though pay a high price (not a ridiculous deal obviously) for Carlos Rodon or Alex Cobb if they can be available.
  3. If he plays everyday, will definitely help my LOD team.
  4. Literally haha.
  5. It's okay, I believe Michael Marino!
  6. Shocked the Cubs haven't traded Contreras yet.
  7. Bring Thor home!
  8. Jose Suarez or someone else.
  9. Edit: And Ohtani!
  10. Last hour should be fun. I still think some big moves will be made and I don't think the Jays are completely done.
  11. Again, where did I say everything can be fixed at a trade deadline? There is nothing wrong with this Blue Jays core when they're all clicking and healthy. You're not adding another big superstar or an elite ace SP to the rotation at the trade deadline. They addressed the bullpen today with Bass and Pop which was nice. Another SP would have been nice for depth purposes, but lets hope guys like Stripling and Kikuchi can stick as the No. 4 and 5. If the Jays lose one of their top three arms like Gasuman, Manoah or Berrios for a significant time or even just 2 or 3 starts, that will bite them. As well, hope Springer plays everyday down the stretch and they don't lose anyone else to a major injury or else you're looking at more ABs for Tapia and Zimmer! So yeah kind of nice to have some assurances and depth, which most World Series contenders have.
  12. Where did I suggest they make a stupendously big move? It would be a shame if they missed out on the Postseason by one game again because they failed to address some weak areas on their roster during the offseason and at the trade deadline.
  13. Since April of this season haha.
  14. I never said the FO should fix everything at one trade deadline. I still think this is a solid team when things go right and click, though the Blue Jays still need to get to the Postseason. If they miss out on making the Postseason, what do you think happens? This team was considered one of the World Series favourites before the season started and they don't even make the Postseason? Would be a huge disappointment. One of the weaknesses of this team heading into the season was lack of depth and lack of high K% relievers. The Blue Jays are still 57-44 with most of their current stars underperforming and some stars being injured on and off, like Guerrero, Bo, Lourdes (lack of power), Springer and some others. On paper, this is probably the best core the Blue Jays have had since 92/93. Doesn't hurt adding or upgrading the roster if possible to give them a better chance down the stretch and if they make the Postseason. They did a nice job adding Bass and Pop for the bullpen. Adding another starter really wouldn't hurt in case there is an injury to one of the Jays top three. Another BP arm wouldn't hurt as well. As well, another factor we have to consider is the border restrictions, which might have limited the Jays from targeting certain players or arms discussed on this board.
  15. Before the All Star break and before this hot streak, most posters on here said the Blue Jays needed to make 4 or 5 upgrades haha. Today though, the team is fine as is.
  16. The Blue Jays were considered a World Series contender on Opening Day, though things have changed since then. Look I agree as well the Jays are a solid team and "if" they can get to the Postseason, they have as good of a chance against anyone. Any upgrades can only help and give the Blue Jays a better chance at going further. I love the Bass and Pop trade, though those two alone won't put this team over the top. As well, lets see what the Jays do against teams like Tampa Bay, Minnesota, New York, Seattle over the next two months. They've beat up on some easy teams the past two weeks so I wouldn't get all excited and think this is the real team. It's funny how before this hot streak, everyone on here were panicking and crying for the Blue Jays to make significant upgrades. Now all of a sudden, posters like you and others are saying "this team is a World Series contender as is." Funny how things change that quickly.
  17. Haha not sure didn't watch. I still think he can be a solid BP arm. Would be a nice signing in the offseason as a starter turning reliever reclamation project.
  18. That didn't last long. Sanchez actually pitched well in his spot start. 8K's in 5 innings. Jays should bring back Sanchez and stick him in the pen!
  19. Phillies did good getting Marsh. Not a big fan of the Mets getting Ruf. I know he crushes LHP but JD Davis can be a solid guy.
  20. Angels are the worst organization.
  21. We need some relievers with high socks!
  22. Bring back Vernon Wells or Superman!
  23. Atkins needs to do this deal. Play the angle that Raisel Iglesias is related to Enrique Iglesias and more girls will attend the games. Perfect marketing ploy!
  24. Yeah they really drained it for Soto and that would have been expected from any team. I don't think we've seen a young generational talent like him get traded with 2.5 years remaining on his contract. They never had to drain the farm system for guys like Snell, Clevinger, or Manaea or any other trades in the past as much as like they did just for Soto, which obviously is understandable. Though after this big hit to their farm system, they better come away with a World Series over the next 2.5 years while Soto is in San Diego to make it all worth it. Otherwise, it's going to be tough being a Padres fan after 2024.
  25. Hazel Mae will be giving him a one-on-one interview asking questions like what is it like now playing for your childhood team and representing Canada! Sportsnet will definitely drive the Canadian angle haha.
